Lookin' good. And as much as it pains me to say this, going for replay casting is actually a good idea. Ideally, I would like to see live casts of players competing on-site, but logistically speaking casting replays is the better option. A lot of the problems are exacerbated by Blizzard themselves for not supporting LAN or automatic game-saves when someone gets disconnected, and now this is what tourneys are having to resort to as to avoid the massive failures/regames/broken streams/excessive lag that was all too prevalent in this latest MLG event.

I'm sure they'll be allowed to participate in the qualifiers next time.

QUALIFIERS! Imagine that! 28 spots through QUALIFIERS!

considering the number of tournaments going on and the overall skill level of the player pool, this is the tournament that I will be leaving out of my viewing schedule. I'll likely watch the finals, but probably nothing else unless something epic happens.

Archangel, Tastosis are quite possibly the most respected casting team in the community BECAUSE they can provide analysis. Having relatively high level players participating in the casting for the league can only help. You can even find a lot of love for Tastosis outside of TL, such as on the battle.net forums.

I actually don't see that criticism of Day9, either. I think of him as being a yell-a-lot kind of guy in tournament casting.

No, Artosis provides analysis, Tasteless repeats what Artosis says 75% time and says stupid things other 25% and is not that good at play by play stuff. What he is good is jokes and has good chemistry with artosis.

Give someone like artosis to TB and you get a much better casting Archon (if they also develop some chemistry) as TB is superior to Tasteless in almost all ways.
This is why I'm not a big fan of TB or HD. They simply don't know what they are talking about when it comes to the highest levels of play. Sure, they could be entertaining, but if they don't know anything about the game then what do you expect to get out of it?

I expect to get entertainment. Since TB is awesome at that I will surely get that.

On the other hand Tasteless was complete opposite when he was casting alone during world championship.

When did he cast alone during WC?? Please enlighten me...

Whenever artosis was being a coach and not a caster. He would spend that time either looking or sounding lost or complaining that he was missing artosis even while the games were going on. I can assure you TB would have entertained us big time during those times...

I'd like to see you try and fill all that dead-air. I'm sure even TB would get pretty awkward when it's just a camera staring at you for 15 minutes and theres nothing going on while teams try and decide what player will come out next. There wasn't a single game that Artosis wasn't commentating. Tournaments don't hire casters to entertain people while theres nothing going on. They hire casters that are good at what they do, which is casting games. Not telling jokes in front of a camera for 15 minutes, then talking about how they don't understand why MC decided to build 2 gates before he got a robo. What it comes down to is that TB doesn't have any perspective on play outside of bronze league. While Tasteless has game knowledge far beyond most of the people on this site.

You claim you want entertainment and that you'll get that with TB, which I'm sure you will. But why would you also not want the same level of entertainment that you get from both Tasteless and Artosis, along with the highest level of game understanding you could possibly get?

Can you get the casting Archon to cast IPL? No?
Then I will gladly take TB then other casters out there that are available.

At no moment did I claim TB is better then Artosis+Tasteless only that TB>Tasteless.

I dunno what you are talking about, but the conclusion seems to be a big load of bullshit sir.
With all due respect Tb is great, but in casting sc2, he is NOWHERE near Tastless.
That's a fact for you.

Wow, it's really nice to see so much info straight from the source so soon after the original announcement. Really looking good so far -- seems like you guys are really organized and know what you're trying to accomplish. Best of luck!
Artosis: "You need to hold my hand." Tasteless: "I'm very good at that."

Hey, first of all I love what you're doing and I love that you're all answering questions in this thread.

I want to ask if you plan on monetizing this. Obviously, IGN can be its own sponsor and since sponsoring works by advertising, is this league to be seen as the best ad IGN has ever made? Or are there some other possibilities?

Still, TotalBiscuit is a very polarizing caster at least. Some people hate him, some people love him, and I'd like to see a more neutral choice that everyone can at least tolerate. Personally I wont be watching any match that is cast by TB, but thats my preference.

I'm a little disappointed in the player pool, as nobody from Liquid is in it. Mainly I mean Tyler.

I also think the terran pool could have been a little bit higher quality. QXC needs to be on that list.

daayyyyummmm. Before and after I discovered TL, IGN was my go-to site for my gaming-related interests. It's definitely one of the biggest gaming sites in the USA and with exposure like this...:O

If this really becomes successful and grows and grows I really think we can see some Korea-esque progaming scene in USA. so pumped and will definitely be tuning in.

EDIT: I think people are being too harsh on the casters. Every caster has their flaws from Tastosis to Kelly to HD. What we should be doing is not bashing on the casters before they even come out and cast this tournament for us. If the casters do not provide the level of commentary needed for a tournament of this level, I'm sure that we can, as a community, provide criticism and help them to learn and become better casters. Bashing them before this tournament even starts does nothing but to hurt the viewership and eSports.

Only Tyler is in NA from liquid and allegedly he turned down the invite. QXC is in Spain.

Both happy and sad, if I had 1 hour before work, and I had a choice between a winners league match and a 1v1 series, I'd watch the team game every time. It's being run by IGN so I have full confidence but the pre hype had me 100% on team league and I can't help but be disappointed.
