The timing was fine, the control was what kiwi messed up on. Rather than the zealots engaging the zerglings, and the stalkers engaging the roaches, the opposite happened. The stalkers got wrecked by surrounds and the roaches took out the zealots.
Not only that, but most zerg would not have made that many units. Most would have done an extra round of drones. Also hiding the roaches behind the hatchery allowed Slush time to get the zerglings produced to flank, and avoided the roaches getting scouted.
It's a much more subtle game than "fail timing."

I'm a huge kiwi fan, but this strategy is...well....let's just say I don't like it at all; dunno why day9 thought it was brilliant, but kiwi just went +1 mainly-zealots vs almost pure roach, no way this can work if slush plays standard (meaning no idra-esque super hard droning + teching)
On steppes its great. If kiwi had microed his zealots better or just not engaged and secured his expo he would have been ahead. The build was good it was his decision making that was not.

More roach hiding by Slush. I like it

double robo all the way, to losing the game ;x

Awesome quote.

Anybody else think that the players are sticking in these games a lot longer than other tournaments? I'm going to rewatch some MLG replays, but it seems like players are sticking it out a lot longer.

Some players are different then others. Also it sucks being down 0-2 in a bo5.

Lol 4gate + 1weapon auto win for toss

xD. Slush could just pull 2 more drones and kill the cannosn as their morphing. Oh well his loss for letting his expansion be delayed

I've seen that style by KiWi or other cheese in almost every match i've seen him play..
Always one base.

So, is the forge FE just a free win for zerg? Doesn't seem like that cannon block really does anything, and roaches are so inexpensive.
Doesn't seem like it's a particularly viable strategy.
