In this game of Maru vs SoO Maru goes for Roach/Ravager on Prion Terrace (Heavily favored for Z IMO). Maru's composition is Marine+Tanks+Medivac and he micros like a freaking god but still can't hold. My point is, it seems to be a good composition vs Roach Ravager if you have amazing APM which in my case seems to be not high enough. Amazing holds though in this particular match.

On Prion it's really difficult because the Zerg shits out infinite roaches off the gold bases. If you don't do damage to them you're already kinda boned. I don't even bother playing normal games on that map because of it. On other maps holding attacks like these with marine/tank is much more doable.

Widow mines are completely useless vs roach/ravager, don't waste your money on them. The problem with pure bio over marine/tank is that you need a lot of it and good upgrades and most roach/ravager attacks hit before you have either. The potentially infinite value of tankivacs just makes them a better option for me.

I litteraly veto Prion because of TvZ alone. Well, I guess I'll just have to try marine+tank more and practice my micro :-) I still really enjoy killing a Zerg with a huge mech army once in a while even if that translates to an overall lower win rate. ;-)

heyjo, i got a question. In TvP esp on Ulrena i face a lot of Protoss cheese stuff. How do i scout and react, to proxy Tempest? Lets say i go reactor first into marine WM Medic as my opening. What would be the best reaction and scouting? When do i need to identify that it is proxy tempest and what would be the right response to it?

How to deal with corruptors/ultralisks in lategame? If I use liberators on air attacks, Ultralisks pass under the liberators. If I focus the libs on the groud to deal with imbalisks, corruptors kills the liberators. I use ghosts, but even this way they just A+click my army.

I watched a few pro games (the T lost even when scouting it early / going to double starport vikings...) so I don't think you can hold it off playing defensively since the map allows for tempest abuse. I tried and it didn't work out indeed.

Therefore my guess is that you should do some bio tank medic allin early enough or whatever timing that can kill it.

I've seen MarineKing win a game on the skin of his teeth (didn't see the whole game tho) with some weird compo (lot of marines and medivacs) doing multi drop and stuff, weird basetrade, but it's probably harder and not reliable.

Turtling with ghost liberator behind turret walls while counterattacking consistently is probably your best chance.
if you have enough ghosts you can snipe the corruptors if he tries to attack your libs with them.
But honestly, tvz lategame is so hard to win that you're probably better of doing a huge 3 base allin before the ultras come out.
Many of the coolest moments in sc2 happen due to worker harassment

Query: Has any high-level player experimented with bio mech comps where he gets a quick second factory to produce additional tanks? I know , for example, in TVT that you often take a second factory after establishing a third but any effort to build a second factory sooner? More frequently, I see the 3 - 5 rax , 1 fact , 1 starport setup.

Do we not see two factory builds because a) tanks are bad relative to bio, b) you can't afford the extra tank production off < 3 base or c) other?

You shouldn't have the gas to do that with proper medivac production and upgrades. However, like Polt, you can get the gasses of your third base instantly whenever you take your third and go from 1 factory tank production to 3 factory tank production quicker. Timing should line up okayish if you build the third factory with the scv that was building the second factory.

Edit: and yeah tanks get way better as the game goes on, you'll want an army that's mostly tankivacs with a few vikings lategame. Marines are cannon fodder.

EDIT: Hey guys, I have a question.

I'm a big time MMMM user in TvP and TvZ. I'm OK with it, but I know that Liberators are what you're supposed to use.

Thing is, I like making a LOT of Medivacs? When is the best time to start mixing in Liberators? Should I stop making Medivacs at 6, then switch to Libs?

that's preference, I usually make 8 medivacs before I start with my liberators. Or that's my gameplan but I more often than not just get tunnelvision and mass medivac with drops going ham on the protoss

Slightly different question: any recent pro examples or just high level suggestions for seizing the initiative in tvp? Any way to do damage early? Reference to vods would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah lol, this is something I'm also after.

I tried to do a variation of a three rax, with the idea of poking, forcing overcharges, falling back, picking off units, delaying the the third, etc.

Maybe something along those lines would work.

Honestly the only style that actually feels solid in TvP is more of a TY approach. But that's ridiculously hard to play if you're not used to playing a turtled "mech-like" style. I haven't seen any pro games out of Korea that showcased a solid aggressive TvP style. TvP is just super hard imo .

I'm kinda feeling bored with Terran, does anyone else have that problem? I'm diamond atm and I feel like every game plays out very similarly for each matchup (games on the same map are almost the same at times). It's gotten to the point that I vetoed Dusk Towers because not only does it bore me to tears, over 33% of my games this season are on that map. Besides the occasional cheese there's not much variety. And especially in TvP there's not really anything I can do to mix it up.

On my 2nd account I've been playing random, and the fact that I don't have to veto any maps really helped my enjoyment of the game so far.

So basically, do you have any recommendations on how to have fun playing Terran?

Cheese yourself?

Hey, what do you do in TvP?

So far I'm wondering about opening with a 3 rax in that match-up and poking the front of Protoss base, HOTS style, with Marauders and Marines. Pick off units and/or force overcharges, force Protoss to make units, etc.

Have you tried going for 16cc builds?

10 depot
16cc
17 rax
18 rax

Then get both Oritbals, then take gases after you get both orbitals (or just 1 before if you go for a 3 rax). I do that in TvZ and TvP or else I feel like I'm just economically behind when I do a Reaper expand.

You can wall off your ramp with the starting depot and both raxes, even on large ramp maps it's doable.

I've tried doing some 3-rax stuff, but I almost never get around to doing pressure with that opening because the Protoss will put on pressure themselves if they see I opened 3-rax. So I generally prefer getting a faster factory after expanding.

As a side note, I personally do not feel inclined to kill 2 of my SCVs before I make a depot.
