No, but from what I've experienced when you load units into a Medivac the units inside are unbound. Either that or it was a handful of freak coincidences. If you remove a medivac from a CG, all its contents are also removed from that CG. Maybe that explains what you're seeing? I don't ever have my Medivacs bound to CGs.
Well, you must have been recreating the cg somehow. Simply loading units onto a medivac will not remove them from a CG. I.e. Once, the units are unloaded again, they're still under the control of the same cg.

Hi JaKaTaK
Thanks for your quick answer. I'm sure I will not come up with any cool modifications to TheCore, as I'm sure it is well thought out I still will have to modify for my own use. I have a special setup for my keyboard. I have a big book placed left-front of my keyboard to rest my arm at. That makes especially pushing both shift and ctrl at the same time awkward. I'm righthanded btw. If I notice something interesting when making my own version, I will of course report back
|
@Stekaer Don't discount your modifications! We want your mods For real though, let us know
|
@JaKaTaK
Sure. I'll give you my hotkey file as soon as I'm pleased with it, and ready to start trying it out. Of course I will need to learn and test in real game. But then I will let you know about changes I make
|
@JaKaTaK
Is it possible to use TheCore Visualizer to show my own hotkey files?
|
Will you ever release a version that utilizes the "grid?"
|
@ sixilli I am very confused. The short answer is no. Why would we do that?

I was just thinking maybe having a grid version would be nice for people who like to off race a lot. I know it's kinda weird to have a grid version of a highly refined system but it might be something worth trying. If I ever get super bored I could maybe take a shot at it. All I would do is leave the CG's and remap the remaining buttons. I was just wondering if it was even possible 0.o
I've also decided to make the leap to the Core for sure this time. I was a diamond player last season. I've tried learning the core but decided to give up on it but recently I've been unable to utilize all the CG's I want ergonomically enough. So I'm re learning the core. I also remapped the CG's to be easier to learn for me. I wanted to make it so I can have each production facility in its own group for separate rally points. o,p,[ = 1,2,3 (Barracks, Factory, Starport) L.; = 4,5 (Upgrade facilities, CC's) 9,0,-,= 6,7,8,9 (Army) . = 10 (not used yet)
My only feedback to the core is that the way the CG's are laid out makes it difficult to learn. I know the keys are organized by quickest and most convenient but that logical thinking isn't the first thing to pop in my head when I need micro and macro. Otherwise everything is great, Good job and thank you :D

You are right. TheCore isn't meant to be easy to learn, just efficient to use once learnt
@ Jak,
In wondering if we can use gg tracker to take a look at gms and see their cg setups?
I know this is liable to appealing to authority and selection effects (cuz pros and gms don't have accessible cgs). Still if we could get exact cgs using new data types that we didn't have before, we may be able to glean useful information. In particular, I'm uncertain as to whether 8 controls groups should really go to units.
|
@Ninjury: I've been watching a few streams and the GMs/pros I've seen seem to be using around 3 or 4 CGs for units and the rest for structures like so: 3 for production (Terran and Protoss), a couple of random CGs that have CC/nexus on them but are never used. I have never seen anybody use more than 4 CGs on units in a ball.
|
But one could argue that pros aren't using all of their CGs because they're inaccessible on the Standard layout. If they used TheCore and could easily reach all ten CGs, they may decide to use them more.
Ninjury noted it I see, but it still could be a factor.

In most games the highest number of unit CGs would probably be 7.
TvP: MM, Vikings, Ghosts, Medivacs, 3 Drops TvZ: MM+Hellbats, Tanks/Widow Mines (usually mutually exclusive), Vikings, Medivacs, 3 Drops TvT: So many unit comps possible I can't list them here
Even then, the Medivacs with the main army don't really need to be bound, so that's 6. 2 CGs left. I would recommend using them for Ebay/Rax TLab/Ghost Academy and Armory/Fact TLab/Port TLab/Fusion Core. Basically bio upgrades and mech/sky upgrades. The notable exceptions would be Hi-Sec Tracking and Building Armor.

Btw- i have used a lot of different versions of the core, both left and right hand,small/medium and even large and i'm playing very regularly,if you guys want me to help test something and/or collect some data from me. I'll gladly help.

A quick question I'm using Terran Medium. I also like to off race zerg. Will I still be able to play zerg effectively with this hotkey layout? I would put each queen on its hotkey like life and idra.

@Antylamon
I don't really want to tuse the cores inject method. I was wondering more if the cores hotkey layout is the same between ZM and TM. Like is spawn zerg the same on both ZM and TM?

Does anyone use a rebinded "base camera" key for TheCore? I know that defeats the purpose of the free cameras you set on your bases but I've always liked using that key to quickly scroll through bases and do stuff. Stuff that could be done with the free cameras used in TheCore granted, but still, I'm curious if anyone is using this key and not using the free cameras (or at least most of them anyways). Cameras do offer a bit more control I'll give it that, but it gets tiresome setting it up for expansions you have yet to take, and then resetting it after you do take an expo every single game.
|
I use the last 2 base cams on my opponent bases for easy scouts and checking up on tech i may have missed on previous scouts. Later when getting those bases i just reset the cams.
By the way, any reason for the removal of "space" key for "last alert"? I rebind it back every itteration of the core since .4 and see no reason why is not the default.

Using last alert is a great way to mess up. Have you never tried to jump to an alert only to find yourself looking at a random marine that just got made? :/ I've always found it incredibly annoying but it seems some people have continued using it, so I'm rather confused here.
