Generally I add either too early, when I should still be working on my army, or too late and I have a huge bank and a tiny army. When you guys expand, when do you add on more gateways/robos/forges/etc? (Plat player) When exactly you add on production facilities will vary depending on what you are making. Still, assuming some basic gateway heavy composition, I'd add a few gates while the nexus was making. Sometimes I would add those gates as a wall to make the new expo safer. The idea is, your income should be getting slightly ahead of your army production anyway, since you managed to save up 400 for the nexus, so then you can afford to add gates. Then, when the nexus finishes your income will jump up again, and you can afford to produce out of the gates you just added. Of course this can change if the added production is a robo or if you are planning to invest very heavily into tech. i.e. I would probably delay adding gates if I was adding forges and a twilight for 3 upgrades I wanted to start asap.

So maybe one (or branches from one opener) build for each race, maybe with an annotation on what it's good against, what it's bad against, and what important decision making I need to do at what time to make adjustments. I'd like to break my platinum plateau and find focused game plans that will get me into diamond or even low masters without cheese. After being in plat for a while I feel like that will be all it takes. Sorry that this probably has been asked countless times

I've found that if I try to go to HT/Archon, the push comes before storm finishes and depending on the map and other player's micro, I'll hold about 50% of the time. If I go for Robo bay, they've already got a reactor-starport and can immediately start churning out vikings to stimy colossus production. Creator-Prime's Double forge style will have 6 gates, 2 immortals 1-1upgrades finished with plenty of sentries and gateway units to hold off this timing assuming proper control. blink should be halfway done/close to finished too so when they retreat you can pick off the medivacs and any straggling units with ease.

I've been thinking of doing a FFE into 1SG and 1robo (with gates ofc) play against zerg because I am very terrible against muta play with HT and blink micro in defending and i can't ever get out of a defensive mindset so the zerg just expands everywhere over the map. i'm thinking/hoping the robo also helps me defend against roaches if he chooses to techswitch so i can have room to switch based on what i see. Mainly, i just want to be able to defend against mutalisks without having to storm, split and blink stalkers to defend, send zealots to defend against lings, harass with DT, manage warp prisms, and macro at the same time. If my idea for a build sucks or won't work can anyone point me to a build that i can open with that's not an all-in and gives me to room to wiggle in against mutas so that i dont have to have the APM a pro? Perferably something with SG so i can harass with pheonix and voids. TY ![]()

TY ![]() here's a modern build that opens stargate and transitions into robo (colossus) and a third http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=318708 if you suspect muta, the guide tells you to tech blink and HT, however Ive seen hero instead go for phoenix and range and then continue into colossus once muta harass has been limited/shut down.

I normally plan to do some sort of +1 pressure after I FFE, and then am unsure of the best path once I see speed research. You have to keep poking to confirm if they stop gas at 100, or keep going. If they keep mining it's pretty indicative of a roach or bane bust.

It's probably the best (maybe immortals are better?) way to get a 3rd base securely. But three hatch before gas just seems to be begging for a +1 2 base timing, which hits pretty strong. Can usually deny a third, or at the very least help secure yours.

Some of them release replay packs here, but you could just as easily check out the vods at gom.tv. Regardless, there are much easier replays to find from foreign players, which really probably make a difference if it's code S or NA gm at your level.
