Ummm, we did! I just tested it and it was overlooked in the HotS move. It was 7x2 instead of 12.

If you two are still interested in participating; we are looking at ways to make the Hydra more interesting and distinct than its BW ancestor. Actives and passives are welcome as long as they feel zergy and are clean and easy to understand. No transforming into buildings, no infesting bases. Something clean and easy to understand like Blink or Stim.


Some ridiculous ideas going through my mind :
- Make roaches an hydra upgrade (something like armored hydras), making both roaches and hydras more interesting, giving a natural feel to a hydra-roach composition, and giving a good reason for the roach to be a tougher, more supply unit. If you really want to take a risk, make roach warren a hydra den upgrade, and put roaches at "T1.75" as a hydra upgrade. So you could use the tough roach if you have a very late lair to hold or do an all in, with the T2 roach being clearly distinct and recycling into a harasser by researching burrow.
- Give hydras mutations : the mutation takes a little bit of time and give a "specialization" to the hydra : speed boost (more than currently), air attack & +1 range, tougher (+hp, at hive), all unlocked by researches. The idea is that an average player can choose a research and have his hydras how he wants them, and a skilled player can research multiples and switch when needed. Or even have formations of hydras with tough ones in front and range ones on the back, with speed ones as reinforcements. The mutations could be different, but the idea is that each research gives a powerful, different feel to the hydra, and you can switch to adapt to circumstances, but having multiples requires time (for the researches), and time (to morph between them). Feels zergy enough to me.

Interesting! A bit clunky, but it certainly could work.

We are currently leaning towards letting them morph into swarm hosts at Lair since they have complementary playstyles (As shown in HotS PvZ) and share upgrades.

Ok, another design patch is one the way. This has tons of goodies for Zerg pressure and aggression.

Protoss
Mothership Core
-Photon Overcharge damage reduced to 30 from 40. (Duration is still 30 seconds.)
-Tweaked Protoss gateway unit build times. And standardized Warp Gate (Only allows warp gate transformation and has a 10 second increase to standard build times.)
-Colossus Thermal Lance damage standardized to 20x2 from 15x2+10x2. (Overall reduction to light targets, over all increase to non light targets.)

Zerg
Zerg is getting a TON of new options for easy pressure and overall utility for their early game.

-Zerg Ground units
-Hydra, Ultra, Zergling all have faster burrow animations to encourage ambush and burrow save play.

Hydralisk
-New Passive: Accelerating Biomass: Hydralisks attack 10% faster on the creep. (Makes their attackspeed 1 on creep, their current attackspeed hasn't been reduced to compensate).
New Mutation: Swarm Host Costs: 175/50/1. Requires Swarm Den.

Swarm Host
-Total cost reduced to 150/75.
-Morph time is 20 Seconds.
-HP reduced to 140 from 160.
-Supply decreased to 2 from 3.
-Swarm Hosts no longer generate creep.

Locust:
Passive: Accelerating Biomass: Locusts attack (20%) and move (40%) significantly faster on creep.
-Attack damage reduced to 10 from 12.

Nydus Network
-Cost Reduced to 100/100.
-Nydus Warren now requires a Spawning Pool instead of a Lair. (Spawn Nydus Worm still requires a Lair.)
-New Ability: Spawn Secretion Worm-100 Minerals.

Secretion Worm
Cost: 100 Minerals
Requires: Spawning Pool.
Build Time: 20 Seconds.
Restrictions: Sight.
HP: 100 1 Armor.
Ability: Spew Creep: The Secretion Worm spews creep up to 13 spaces away in a line. The creep grants sight the first time it spreads to the location. Channeled ability, 30 second cooldown.

Have you considered keeping roach as tanking unit, but instead high hp, high suply unit, more zergy, high hp/suply unit with aditional upgrade to do better vs aoe? Something like 60hp/1 armor, 2 per egg for 50/25/1? Good burrowed move speed, almost melee. Tough to kill and annoying.

We have! We found that it really hurt the defender's advantage for Terran. When Roaches hit the field, Terran mech just died if Z split at all.

I guess i had to miss it. I was pretty sure your aproach to roach was beefier t2 unit with some fancy bonuses from burrow.

Is it possible to play vs anyone on eu? I have tried one goal channel couple of times but nobody seemed to be there.

There's no point trying to play on EU as the mod isn't even available in its current updated state. Also, given the small size of the community actually looking to play the game it makes sense for everyone interested to congregate on one server.. and that server is NA. It might actually be worthwhile if someone put a note to this effect in the OP as I imagine more than a few curious Europeans have checked the EU channel a few times, found nobody and given up for good.
I am terrible at this game!
