Setup
- Semi-open setup.
- The following roles can be used and can be of any alignment: Veteran, Roleblocker, Doctor, Jailkeeper, Role Cop, Vanilla Cop, Tracker, Watcher, Vigilante, Vanilla.
- The following roles may be used and can only be of the mafia alignment: Strongman, Backup.
- Roles may or may not be X-shot. This will be stated in your role PMs as "X-shot [role]" (e.g., 1-shot Strongman)
Game Mechanics
- Order of Operations: Mafia roleblocks -> town roleblocks -> heals -> mafia/ vigilante kills -> investigations -> other
- No notifications except for investigative results.
- If an X-shot role is roleblocked then they are not refunded their shots.
- Duplicate roles are possible.
- If a town and mafia roleblocking role clash, the mafia role always wins.
- Backups can assume roles of all alignments and their ability is passive.
- Mafia kills must be delivered by an individual and can be tracked, roleblocked, etc. If mafia fail to specify who submits a kill then it will be randomised among the living mafia players.
- Mafia KPN formula = Number of mafia divided by 2, rounded up (e.g., 5 mafia = 3 KPN)
- A mafia power role can perform a kill and a night action simultaneously.
- Mafia can hold their shot/s.
- Town cannot no-lynch.
Role PMs
+ Show Spoiler + Doctor: Choose one player to heal from one attack every night.
You cannot self-heal.
You cannot target the same player on consecutive nights.
You are not notified if you successfully healed a player. Veteran: You will, by default, survive the first KP that targets you.
If you are roleblocked, you will die if targeted by KP.
You are not notified if you lose your vest. Role Cop: Check a player each night to receive their role.
Results will be presented in the following format: Role Cop/ no result.
You are not informed of how many shots a role has. Vanilla Cop: Check a player each night to learn whether they have a role.
Results will be presented in the following format: Vanilla/ not vanilla/ no result. Vigilante: Shoot one player at night.
You are not allowed to shoot yourself.
Your shot is not refunded if you are roleblocked or jailed, or if your target is healed. Roleblocker: Roleblock a player at night, preventing them from taking any action.
If you roleblock a role with X-shots, then they are not refunded their shots.

Mafia-exclusive Role PMs
+ Show Spoiler +Backup [role]: When a specific PR of any alignment dies, you take on their role.
This ability is passive and cannot be roleblocked.
If that role had limited abilities that were spent, you are not refunded these abilities.
If you are role-copped after you have taken on a role, you will appear as that role. Strongman: If you target a player for the night kill, your shot pierces through all protection.
This includes roleblocks, jails, and heals.

The objective of the game is to lynch or kill all mafia members before they outnumber the rest of the town. It's much like a game of poker because mafia members are also part of the town during the day and may manipulate the vote to their liking. If the mafia at any time outnumber or equal the townspeople, they win. The town's goal is to lynch all the members of the mafia. The game is typically very active, so the thread may grow large quickly. However, it is essential to read the thread to play the game. If you do not have the time or patience to read the whole thread, do not play.
Rules: Cheating:Cheating includes (but is not limited to): - Posting after death. You may have one polite goodbye post; but it may not contain any potentially game-changing information.
- Ruining the game by doing something like hand out your mafia's member list to the town.
- Logging on to someone else's account to get their role or looking over someone's shoulder to get their role.
- Comparing role PM times to determine roles.
- Posting screenshots of your inbox.
- Posting any PM you receive from a host.
- Getting yourself modkilled to help your team. Your non-majority-decided death may not be used as a bargaining chip.
- Signing up more than once using smurf accounts.
- Betting items outside of the game in exchange for in-game benefits.
- Sharing accounts with other players. Only you may post on your account.
- Posting the link to any QTs you have.

Signups: Signup for the game by posting /in in the thread. You are responsible for being aware when the game starts.
Game-specific rules: Modkills:This game follows the TL Mafia Ban List. If you are modkilled, your punishment will go beyond being eliminated from this game. Please refer to it for questions about your punishment. If you want to use this game to sit out your ban, post in the Ban List. For the record, there isn't a voting thread but I know that some players found it annoying to not have a record of votes to look at last time so if people want one then let me know. I'm not particularly fussed either way.
A similar principle applies for deadlines or roles or what have you.

A Backup is a role that doesn't have any powers until a PR role dies. Then it takes on the powers of that role.
Variations of this role include the Universal Backup, where the Backup takes the role of the first PR that dies, and a role-specific Backup which only gains abilities if a specific PR dies.
For this setup, the second one is being used. It is also being used as a mafia role only.
I am also amused that the game is almost full already within 12 hours. It would technically be full if Fecalfeast wanted to play.

I'm not inherently opposed to adding more people since I have time to tweak the setup (the format allows for as many players as you want) but I would want to make sure everyone who has signed up will play first. Replacing slots becomes a bit of a pain otherwise.
EDIT: If I were to do this then I'd add Serial Killer as a possibility in the setup. I will let people know if I go ahead with that change, however.

Yeah, it's quite a big thing with the UK universities. I'd hate to have exams and graduation coming up right now. I'm lucky in that I don't have to worry about my degree much.

As for other stuff, the tl;dr is that I fucked up balance by forgetting to add appropriate mafia KPN for a 20P, I modkilled ykl and KSC because they asked to be replaced out and I had no replacements, and I have no commentary on any other aspect of the game aside from noting it was both funny and sad to observe at times.
You can find more of my commentary on the setup in the obs QT but I'll take suggestions on improving balance from the mafia team/ other players too.
Shout-out to Skynx for being a good sport and introducing me to videos of angry footie fans.

A lot of the mod-kills had decent odds of being mislynched, I think. Obviously the game wouldn't have been such a mafia-stomp without them but I don't think it would have suddenly made town get its act together.
