I want to see Peanut and Bang retire and SKT get a new ADC and just make Blank the starting jungler. lol peanut just needs to be on a different team, you are way overreacting No, Peanut's been weak all year long for SKT, and was almost always subbed out for Blank in the second game for the "download complete" strategy. Which worked ok for most of LCK and most of Worlds, but failed SKT at key moments this year (Worlds finals and LCK Summer finals). So let's see if I understand this right. Peanut has an absolutely fantastic year on ROX last year. He moves to SKT and doesn't have that great a year but does ok. This means he should retire? I'm not saying he should retire, but he definitely needs to take some time to step back and either get his grind on or decide what type of jungler he wants to be. On ROX he was solid, but this year he just seemed non-existent. You literally said he should retire in your first post. A player didn't have a fantastic year on a new team and your reaction is he must retire now you changed that tune to just step back. Why? SKT has always preferred more of a control type jungler so getting Peanut was always a risk. He thrived in a team that allowed more fluid play to happen. Let's just see what he's like next year either on SKT or on another team. Ok, I did. I was wrong and caught in the emotion of SKT losing. Sorry. It's cool. The series was tough on fans. Now is not the time to do any good reflection on the performance or the team as people are far too emotional.
SKT weren't at their peak this year, in fact that struggled quite a bit at times. I think people expected them to flip a switch at worlds to regain that form but at the end of the day that was just far too unlikely.

I just don't get what happened to SKT in the Summer
They were almost unstoppable in LCK Spring; they dominated MSI
And now this? I mean even if i was a SSG fan (I'm not) I would at least expect SKT to take 1 or 2 maps from SSG with this result

Fans started to hate him, fabricated stories about him and made a witch hunt. KR Riot then fined him for a remark he made months prior. He's stated he doesn't enjoy lol itself but likes the competition. Think he was just done after all that bullshit. Otherwise it's just a weird coincidence he starts slumping super hard around the same time.
Then you factor in that they don't have an anchor player in top lane like they've hate the past few years. Don't have Bengi or another anchor in the jungle. Bot lane had to do so much more work than they'd otherwise have to.
|
Give Samsung Taliyah/Sej/Xayah thanks
|
Not having an anchor in other roles doesn't really excuse Bang's performance though, he made some very poor plays. Think SKT will have some roster changes for next season, they need a proper coherent team plan, and currently it's not working out. Although with the massive pre-season changes who knows, maybe their team can work out again.
He's stated he doesn't enjoy lol itself but likes the competition
I thought he says he views LoL more as a job than a game.

I mention the anchor players because they help make your mistakes not quite as painful. Look at game 1 this series. Ruler makes a mistake at baron of switching to dps the suppressed Peanut. This causes baron to be a bit of a shitfest where ambition also makes a mistake leaving Peanut able to steal it. Normally those kind of mistakes would signal a snowball. It didn't though because Curvee does an absolutely amazing flanking play that saves the game for them. Curvee having Huni's number the whole series when it came to game impact post laning leaves Ruler and Co able to be more free with themselves.
Bang played poorly yes. Having other players unable to pick up the slack hurts when you have a member playing poorly. SSG players made mistakes, there were opportunities for SKT to win this series but they just weren't up to snuff. People acting like Bang playing shit is the sole reason SKT lost is pretty sad.

Just the last game he saved the enemy ad 3 times by mistiming his ult. He kept poking the cho with warmogs instead of others or the tower when pushing. He legitimately did nothing when their mid laner had a pick whose entire job was to enable Bang. I dunno if they would have won but Bang was absolutely awful this series.
Let's be real everyone can have bad plays. The last game faker inted a few times and he missed his mantra q which made blank die at the start however he snowballed the game and had a lot of good plays. I didn't see Bang have any good plays.
Game 2 Huni tried helping his team and game 3 he did pretty much what you can expect out of a trundle. Not sure how did he exactly lose....
|
If Haru playing gives a Samsung Ezreal skin I will take back everything bad I ever said about subs.
|
Yea Bang played one of if not the worst series he's ever played. I still don't think he lost them the series on his own.
Huni picked Yasuo into a team with Jana/Malz/Xayah and couldn't do anything? Who could have known that would happen! Compare that to Curvee. Gets counter picked 2 games but manages to absorb that pressure and find openings to impact the game. Gets one counter pick and destroys. Maybe that's just his team being better enabling him to perform better. Who knows.

On ROX he was solid, but this year he just seemed non-existent. Edit: If it's a pure style mismatch between Peanut and SKT's normal playstyle, then that needs to be a long discussion from both the players and the org to decide if they want to change. And prior to now, you would have no reason to doubt SKT's overall gameplay and strategy. But now they have to deal with a new, foreign emotion: losing on the biggest stage. Edit 2: You can level the same complaint vs. Huni too, because he just played as a carry in top even on tank champs. But it worked because he had the mechanics to pull it off, even if the worst part of his game is his Teleport usage. And for this Worlds meta it started shifting back to a mix of tanks and carries, and Huni by in large did what he had to do to get SKT a chance to win. But SKT as a whole just seemed nervous, which is a thing I didn't think I'd see.
Lets be clear. First, Peanut joined SKT to win worlds. Second, players change when they join SKT, SKT doesn’t change to fit its players. If you thought Huni was ever a good fit for SKT, you’re just wrong. Huni playing as a “carry top” as a tank isn’t an issue. Huni is legit the third best carry top in SKT’s history; the downside is he’s third best of three. Huni’s play skill is super overrated and over estimated. There’s a reason why many analysts and people here were surprised that SKT took Huni over Untara.

I think blaming huni is just people who thought he was weak before worlds justifying their preconceived notions he did fine he was probably the second best player on skt and maybe made less mistakes (and plays) then Faker. He had tons of pressure in game 3 and others he was fine.
As mentioned a bunch skt's bot lane was much weaker and the team play of SSG was stronger.
The truth behind this statement really depends on huni's autonomy in regards to picks and map movement. Look at the way Cuvée plays out being an unanswerable split push game 1. Then watch what hunt does after having draft and pressure resources put into him.
Game 3 specifically his jungler is showing top the entire first 10m while his bot has to get blasted by lulu Varus. He gets way ahead, ahead enough to be worth the pressure, he then goes ie second and immediately groups??

Ahahahahahaha. Eat it championship chaser Peanut and SKT fanboy Huni.
Feels so gratifying how the rest of the year played out when I caught tons of flak for saying there was a possibility Bang wasn't the best AD in the world.
|
i mean this year was complete dog shit for bang. he clearly was not best ad in the world even before this split
korean netizens are already joking about checking his bank account for throwing. it was just a next level of bad.
i'll be very surprised if at least 2 positions on SKT aren't completely changed.
