I dunno, didn't they split with WE at MSI despite having Turtle at ADC?

I don't think Misfits is going to do much. I don't value them much higher than I did Splyce last year.

LZ and IMT were insanely lucky in their group draw. IMT isn't going to advance first, but to advance second all it has to do is beat GAM and what will likely be either FNC or HKA.

TSM has a very easy group given that it was pool 2 (poor AHQ) but it is more difficult than it appears because of WE.

What fun is it being cool if you can’t wear a sombrero?

Bizzaro World, where TSM won the tiebreaker game at MSI to keep the Pool 1 spot for NA:
A: EDG, SKT, Misfits

B: Longzhu, Immotrals, Marines

C: G2, Samsung, Flash Wolves

D: TSM, AHQ, RNG

Once again, at least on paper this year, loosing the pool 1 spot doesn't turn out to be a problem.

Really hope we can see Gambit in groups in a way that doesn't fuck WE/C9/FNC.

A: Edward Gaming, SK Telecom T1, ahq e-Sports Club
B: Longzhu Gaming, Immortals, GIGABYTE Marines
C: G2 Esports, Samsung, Royal Never Give Up

With how little I've seen this year, it feels like I'm totally in the dark.

Longzhu should have an easy time. G2 could be out after groups. Seems fun.

Yeah LZ didn't need any luck but they have a pretty weak group compared to the teams they could've drawn, aka a CN team. Meanwhile G2 are in probably the hardest group they could possibly get, a Samsung that beat KT and probably the best team Uzi has ever been on. Only good news for them is that they're unlikely to get a strong 4th team, I guess C9 is a possibility?

Top three luckiest teams I'd say are:

1. LZ
2. IMT
3. TSM

Top three unluckiest teams I'd say are:

1. G2
2. ahq
3. RNG, maybe MSF because of WE

Anyone else think its a little odd that IMT released a "Champions" jersey when they didn't win? Also nitpicky time but there's an American Flag on their jersey but only Pob is actually American, but the ad uses Xmithe.

The youtube video for it is called "World Championship", so it's clearly based around being their roster for Worlds, not whether or not they won NA. As for the flag, I think it's based around the team being a US based org and not so much individual player stuff like TSM does.

I will say that I'm not liking the gold and not keeping the teal though.

Both are really minor things to nitpick tbh.
The flag thing seems fairly normal in traditional sports. Football is the first sport that comes to mind where many orgas are international and comprised of players of various nationality. I can't say for certain but I imagine if there was a flag on football uniforms, they'd be the home flag of the orga, not the players themselves.

The flag is definitely a minor nitpick, although I'm pretty sure TSM does the correct flags per player (as mentioned above) and they operate out of the same company so it clearly could be done, but I would say making a "Championship" jersey, making it gold, and premiering it with a video of how "everything you touch turns to gold" is just in weirdly poor taste for an org that didn't win their own region.

Also 100% unrelated but for those unaware, SKT chose to take Huni and the junglers to round out the roster.

They ranked WE over RNG, and I can totally stand behind that. Even though technically the playoffs placed the CN teams the other way round, EDG is probably still the weakest team of the three if everyone plays their best. I would place EDG over TSM and G2 though, I think it's going to be a KR/CN dominated worlds this year.

Yeah, really interesting decision. Maybe Kkoma figured the jungle rotation is more powerful (I think it is as well, Huni/Untara don't change the team behaviour much, it's more their solo play that differs), and Huni has the experience on the world stage so there's a lower risk of nerves. Except it's Huni and he tilts, so...

I expected Peanut/Blank to be SKT's duo role. There's a lot to be gained for kkoma/SKT to have Blank watch the first 1-2 matches backstage then come in during a later set with a customized strat specific to the opposing jungler/team.

Huni over Untara surprised me though. dat tilt...

Idk. China is likely better than NA/EU, but sometimes they just do stupid shit. I also think the gap between China, Taiwan, EU and NA is a lot closer than most people realize. The funny thing is that I think the rankings overall are good, but I'd put LZ ahead of SKT. The fact that SKT chose Huni over Untara is going to bite them hard imo. It's not surprising considering how they've ranked the two throughout the season; but it's surprising that they have such a drastically different opinion still on the two.

On China, watching only two games of the finals between RNG and EDG, it feels RNG was overall decent, but made some mistakes that might prove major against top teams, like counterjungling without lane support. EDG seemed ok individually, but that's about it. Very little synergy between the members though.

I feel G2 or TSM should win against EDG and at least go even against RNG.

The espn ranking is probably how I would rate the teams, for the teams I have seen. I still have to watch some WE to round it out. The only thing I was surprised about was 14th for C9. In my mind they could've been near 11th as well.

I liked Untara as well. SKT has enough weapons to win games, even without Huni. Huni might lose them games, though..
