They didn't even have 3.15 till last week (week 1/2 LPL have the old summoner spell icons), Yasuo wasn't enabled till this week, and IIRC they still don't have 4.1. But Tencent being bad at patching the Chinese tournament servers on time has been a known issue forever. It just means that for any international event not called Worlds, Chinese understanding of the game is inevitably going to be 1-2 patches behind. Well yeah, it really looked like iG and WE were playing the games with their game knowledge based on outdated patches/metas. I mean, it's known that that is the case, but it was really obvious for anyone who knew to watch out for it. At Worlds, OMG adapted quite well to the patch change, while Royal relied on a strong showing against OMG and facing a non-Korean team in the semis to get through (IMO). But WE has always been quite slow at identifying modern strategies, and it's even worse now without Misaya's captaincy to steel them through tough games. iG has always been quite good at adapting, but 1 week really isn't enough. Maybe it's time to stop making excuses for the Chinese teams and just recognise that their game theory is just too insular and undeveloped for them to compete internationally at the moment. Tencent needs to patch properly and China needs to evaluate different regions and metas before they can return back to the top. Edit: I really thought C9 would get through Fnatic, but it seems that they aren't used to closing games against top tier opposition. They are very good at snowballing a lead against mediocre opposition, but they looked quite lost in G1 and G2 against Fnatic's world class defence. Shame too, I really wanted to see C9 vs KTB, since neither team is mechanically top tier but their macro strategies are at the forefront of the recent metas.

from what i've read it seems that omg has the best coaching/analyst in china and they learn the most from scrimming against korean teams. didn't watch the WE game but apparently they got crushed in 20 minutes

Where are you getting the "venue closing time" from? the website? Venues are well known for going late / opening early for big events, they just charge a premium. Shit i think every wedding reception ever did this lol.

They had to clear our the audience for the last game on friday. If this gos to game 5 they would have the same problem. Going to be an awesome winners ceremony in front of 10 production staff tho.

They were behind schedule that night (by alot apparently) and this is planned in advance.

But even if Fnatic>Gambit in this tour, i would still put KTB as favorites, something around 60-40 for the BO5. Game 1 will tell us a lot of what will follow.
