There were also a lot of pretty good Korean mids before they all started sucking relatively speaking. Don't remember their names though...the mids on Blaze/Frost? I think I'd agree that Froggen was the best AP mid in EU back during S2 along with Alex Ich but iono looking back if I could definitively say those two were the best in the world. KR was still a baby region last summer, only Ambition was up to snuff. MidKing & ManyReason had some hype but it was short-lived. China was a bit of a mystery, they had been isolated for pretty much an entire year after IEM Guangzhou due to visa issues. There was a lot of interest in WE but when they finally played in Champions Summer & IPL Faceoff they kinda choked. It was only around the S2 Finals that Misaya and Zitai started being properly recognized. Maybe in hindsight you could say that Froggen & Alex weren't ahead of everyone else, but in the Spring & Summer of S2 saying that would have been like saying that Faker is overhyped now. There were a crapload of videos with their plays floating around and people were losing their minds whenever they got a kill, no matter how simple. Anyway, my point was that Sheep got his chronology way wrong. The "EU best mids" thing wasn't some epeen contest with "KR best tops", the latter started being said several months later when Maknoon & Shy got popular acclaim.

Sorta hard to smash lane when you have to lane with Chauster.

Yeah I wouldn't say it's his fault, but that doesn't really change the outcome in the end. It's one of those things where you can't prove that it's true, but you also can't prove that it's not true So it will never be resolved until he gets the chance to play against world class teams again. It's just my assumption that you probably can't really maintain a world class skill if you're "rotting" (for the lack of a better word) away on a mid tier NA team, when top AD carries from other regions constantly play and practice against the best of the best.

I think Lovelin is a manly man, but his success at Worlds has a lot to do with the rest of the regions being unfamiliar with OMG's jungle style. He is very good, however, but probably not quite as good as people seem to think he is. ClearLove was a good jungler, but he's probably fallen off quite a bit now.

Not even lol to say Korea was a "baby region" last summer is absurd. I mean sure if your only perspective was circljerking voer Froggen and watching TSMBAYLIFe sure the "Korean best tops" only came in S2 finals, but to people who actually followed the scene it was floated way before when you suggested, and the EU best mid was a direct response to that.

China Junglers blow. clearlove/Troll was awful too but he became much better in the period after S2. China jungle talent si definitely lacking. Meh, we've discussed the impact of KeSPA on ESPORTS to death over the years at TL, I don't think there's much left to be said. The only thing we can actually say about KeSPA is that it has its pros and its cons, it's a bit naive to brand KeSPA as a simple net positive or net negative. Bait Faker Ahri, Veigar 1 shot. Finally, the legend of the Veigar lategame will be revealed on the world stage.
