Self proposed best player in the world Chauster and best adc in the world Doublelift really aren't as good as they say are... Not to mention the whole "2 threat" excuse is as lame as the "only have blue strat" excuse and the "it's cuz of jiji" excuse. The idea is that a new top laner opens up a lot more strategies for CLG. Look at what TSM is doing now with Wildturtle compared to what they were "locked" down with on Chaox(MF all day). Think about what a more versatile player gives a team. It's HUGE. I'm not really commenting on how well or badly hotshotgg did in the whole series. Just saying that teams having different players surprisingly brings different strategy to them. WHOA

Hotshot being okay on malphite; doesn't detract from the fact that he limits CLG overall game plan, cuz he can't play anything outside of chogath/shen/malphite. Look at all other toplaners in this LCS; megazero, sychosid, etc etc. all play carry top, and can also play support/utility top. look at SoaZ, he dominated his lane with NUNU. you'll never see that with HSGG. HSGG at his best is mediocre; HSGG on average is a liability.

don't get me wrong, HSGG isn't very good and his limited champ pool/play style definitely holds CLG back, but compared to how Chauster's basically a non-factor in every game, Aphro still feels uncomfortable as a support, HSGG looks pretty solid. Link does great some games, but he also seems completely irrelevant in other games.

Chauster's jungling was bronze league though.

The Aphromoo pickup disallows that but Chauster can play a top with threat potential giving them a chance to pick up a solid jungler. The other alternative is to pick up InSec from KT B. they'd have to sell the house to pay insec to play for such a bad team.

(Granted I can enjoy the big plays from Asian teams way more, I'm just reflecting on the overall game itself).

Chauster keeps proclaiming about how great he is but all LCS long he's just been incredibly underwhelming as a jungler. don't get me wrong, HSGG isn't very good and his limited champ pool/play style definitely holds CLG back, but compared to how Chauster's basically a non-factor in every game, Aphro still feels uncomfortable as a support, and Link has great games every now and then but he also feels irrelevant some games. Remember; chauster is forced to play jungler because HSGG always has a permaspot on the team.

In a vacuum like this where it is all relative improvement is tough to measure. Wait what. in S2, no one expects a second-tier team like TD and CLG Black to beat Dignitas and CLGNA. Sure, they've beaten the "top teams" before in the season, those were bo1's and IMO don't say as much as these bo3's. Iirc, Chauster has never really ever played the off-laner/bruiser role. Before the support+ad meta chauster played AD/AP carries. I have my doubts that Chauster will do better than HSGG in the bruiser/tank role, especially considering how he plays as a jungler. Even if jungling was Chauster's theoretically weakest role, he deserves any and all flak he gets for being so damn arrogant. He's proclaimed himself the best all-around player of NA multiple times and have historically repeatedly called other players trash.

At this point I don't think he would be lcs level in any role except maybe support since he's had no practice and I would imagine your laning skills/mechanics deteriorate rather fast playing only junglers all day.
