But more importantly, to me, at least, is that killing defile (unlike killing Q farm or R) doesn't ruin Karthus's feel. Nerfing Karthus R would be like nerfing Maokai Sapling. It is not what makes him strong, but it is a defining and original part of his kit.

Nerfing ult is definitely a needed aspect and would not affect his "feel."

Long ult timers is a bad design feature as well, because it increases the variance of engagements based on masteries that the opposing team cannot know.

Didn't catch much of M5 vs NA.

Though game 1 and game 2 aren't really worth watching, both just snowballed and the winning team just played cleanly until the end ![]()

Though game 1 and game 2 aren't really worth watching, both just snowballed and the winning team just played cleanly until the end ![]() Only a few teams really have that anymore imo. And even then it's normally just one or two stand out players not one player who just carries them through. Like, CLGeu probably could've been called a team that Froggen carries six months ago. But anymore and it is very definitely a team effort. I mean, TPA and WE have stand out players on their team but their wins are still team efforts with everyone making plays. You could maybe say that CLGna gets carried by Doublelift and Chauster, I guess? But even in that example you have games where jiji can make some clutch plays and it's not like Hotshot or loco had horrific tournaments even if they had bad games. I dunno of the top six teams at this tournament only one of them (CLGna) could maybe be an example of a team with just one (or two) star players. You can't really get by anymore with just one standout player, you need your entire team to make good decisions to win games.

If you really put the fate of the game in his hands, I don't think I'd trust him to carry.

Not that the other three are bad although bot lane is probably M5's closest thing to a weak link.

Alex and Diamond are in contention for best in the world for their roles, and are guaranteed in the top 3 or 5. Darien, Genja, and Gosu aren't even remotely close. Darien is categorically outclassed by the top tier of Korean top lane play (as are most Western top laners) and Genja is categorically outclassed by Chinese bot lanes (as are most Western ADs). This is perfectly fine, as no team has players that are absolute top class in all roles. It's just obvious fanboying if you think M5 is somehow exceptional, because it's pretty clear that Alex and Diamond outclass their counterparts much more than Genja/Darien/Gosu do (and those 3 don't lag behind any less than the players on other teams).

I think they've got a great shot at taking this home, as I think they'll beat Fnatic and they'll be tough with the upper bracket advantage.

Darien, Genja, and Gosu aren't even the best players at their role in their own region and all three make some really questionable plays with inconsistent results from time to time. Alex and Diamond consistently perform well. Alex Ich is probably the best AP mid in EU (or he's at least part of the discussion). Diamond should probably be considered the best jungler or at least the second best in the world. Not that the other three are bad although bot lane is probably M5's closest thing to a weak link. I would say Diamondprox's Lee Sin is in strong contention for best jungler in the world, but his support junglers aren't overly impressive (though still very good). Alex Ich is probably the "star" of M5 though. There's a pretty clear trend that when M5 win, Alex Ich did well, and when they lose, Alex Ich did average/bad. The rest of the team are strong enough to often win their lane, and at the very least not be a constant liability (ie NoobShotGG).

Caomei seems to be much more able to hold his own top lane, and I think the biggest improvement has been in the jungle play from ClearLove. He's been able to make more plays from the jungle and establish good map control without the amount of derpage we saw from him at S2 Champs. I think they've got a great shot at taking this home, as I think they'll beat Fnatic and they'll be tough with the upper bracket advantage. Caomei, hold his own? He practically carried his teams in quite a few number of games. I want to see WE vs TPA final.
