Aghs would require a rebalancing and recoding of a majority of champs.
And an improvement of summonables would require a rework of the game backend.

I think powerful item actives are cool though. It's hard to come back in LoL because the other team has 20% more damage and tankiness than yours so even if they make a mistake or you get a good initiate, they win the fight.
You didn't read. I never said refresher orb, I said refresher orb that ignores skills and only affects summoner spells. Flash, tp, ignite, exhaust, barrier, heal, ghost...

That'd be interesting but double flash would still be very scary and would make people whine that you can't be safe if your opponents have double flash. It'd have to have a long animation for the refresh.
I think Revive would also be strong with it.

it's easy to keep track of how teams are doing over a season. watch their ranking. it's hard to tell how they're doing in relation to teams in other regions, but even then, that's not hard either if you watch all regions.

it feels like more of a time commitment to keep up with the competitive scene now. it's also difficult to pick up in the middle of the season if you haven't been following everything from the start imo

The LCS coverage is way too lengthy to watch live anyways, plus the analysis is suspect.

I can definitely see how rank soloQ ladder is getting inflated.
1500 Elo was gold in S2? Now I think 1500 Elo is like mid plat.

Not at all. I improved a bunch since s2 and I barely missed the 1500 cut-off there. Reached Plat in s3, and would have been atm (two back to back promo 5th game lost by an intentional troll or a dc, old story all that). Having trouble to climb back through s1 after loss streaks but I'd hold my own in Plat since I regularly get some in my games. Your assumption means I'd be worse than in s2, which I definitely am not.

Which site are you using to track Elo?

My game sense is a lot better than in S2, but in terms of mechanics I never recovered after my break in mid S3. These days I either:
1. play jungle/support 2. play super passive as a laner
because I can't CS/harass anymore.

I am not using any sites. I am just thinking of the 1500 Elo level around S2/early S3 compared to the gold/plat players nowadays.

Those are all less gamebreaking than Aghanim's, Force Staff, or Sheepstick. Rod of Atos, Drums of Endurance, and Mek/Pipe have analogue items in LoL that happen to either be overnerfed items (Locket) or items with stat combinations/build paths that make them prohibitive to build except on a few champions (Gunblade, BotRK, Talisman). Eul's also has a partial analogue in Zhonya's (self-only).
Agha's actually hard because a large percentage of Aghanim's effects are only CD reductions or damage increases, which would be redundant with CDR and AP/AD in LoL.

Watching someone like Sky play confuses me. The guy's been at the exact same elo for like 1,500 games now. I get that entertainment is a major part of his stream, but he always says how he wants to improve and that he could get so many more viewers if he were better. I just find it very strange.

Gonna need those Necrobooks on my desk by tomorrow.
Riot get on that whole, recoding the entire game with multi unit control thing, ASAP.
Edit: Force Staff in League would be hilarious because of 0 animation turn rates among other things.

It's definitely not the mmr split you're mentioning.

You could still get different interesting aghs effects(not going to speculate on the cost/itemization of it, but only effects themselves)
One example for skarner: autos reduce cd of ult by .5s,1s on champs. Pull duration+ .25s.
Galio: ignore 1/2/3 instances of cc while ulting
Jarvan: Increase damage dealt to enemy champions inside cataclysm by 30%.
Shaco: Spawn 2 clones
Cass: Turn ALL enemies to stone
Kog: Ult Mana cost capped at 200(Helloooo AP kog)
I'd like to see force staff before aghs though(self only item).

Only way to get better is to play aggressively in lane even if you lose. Playing passive is not really optimal and it doesn't win you games.
Why don't you spam some normal games? Sometimes I'd play really poorly for a while and just go on my other account and just play there.

Unless you're playing a champion you have a lot of experience on, experiment and go ham with new champions. That doesn't mean play stupid and definitely doesn't mean you repeat the same deaths multiple times but it's pretty important to know the limitations of each champion. You can't find that out unless you play aggressive and play to the limit.
e.g. Riven is my textbook definition of a Top lane bully. If I ever play a new champion vs a Riven, I purposely play aggressive pre-6 even though I know she's probably stronger and better at trades. The important thing is playing around with what you know and still figuring out a way to come out ahead.
