The question should be how does she fare in lane against the fotms now[pretty ok] and does she bring better utility and tools for every stage of the game like they do[nope].

Depends on which fotm you mean. Right now I'd say Leona/Thresh/Lulu are the best supports. Morgana destroys Thresh/Leona when paired with Draven/Jinx/Cait. I'd say Black shield has utility that matches lantern, a snare that lasts 3 seconds and an ult that stuns. I mean she's got just as much cc as Leona/Thresh. She is absolutely pickable for Challenger level play and is starting to see play in LCS

Yes, you are right in that she has good tools cc. But my point is that when you look at the top champs now you see they got better, safer ways to put that cc, let's see what morgana has.
Q is good snare, yea, but it can be easily dodged, it's not that fast., and if you use it as your peel and miss[can happen!] you are in trouble.
E is great skill , but too bad you cant defend 5 people at once with it 
R is good skill, but the stun part is hard to pull off versus good people as she's too squishy as support to be fully aggresive with it, and it's not instant
Compare it to say,leona, who got pretty bad time against morgana in lane but can easily stun entire team with her ultimate, peel easy with simple q, be in the middle of everything and dive freely because of tanky W st
So yea, morg have the tools, but she's just not safe enough imo to be constanly picked atm.

How do my fellow Lulu players feel about E max on support? I've been experimenting with it and I find it works really well against assassins and heavy burst which are very common in solo queue. I've also been experimenting with maxing poly second since seeing people become a squirrel for 2.5 seconds is great. Lulu is so versatile I feel any skill order could really work on her.
Edit: Leona is lucky to stun 2 people with her ult, a slow down on 3 people in considered great. Unless you're following up a 5 man shockwave you're NEVER going to stun 5 people

3-4 is possible in alot of places unless it's in the open, how many times can you morgana ulti stun for that much?
I max E>W on lulu all the time on soloq. It just you fend threats better, which is the main point of soloq lulu. 1 point of q is enough for the slow.

My main support is lulu and I sometimes max E 1st sometimes I max Q, depends, but W is always 2nd.
What happened with the new random pick order system? everytime I play duo the one with higher rank is 1st and buddy is 5th, from time to time 4th and 5th but always one of us is 5th like it was before, and this is in more than 15 games so it cant be bad luck..

Lulu is the best bodyguard in soloq, janna and cow are good in that area too but, lulu is unmatched in the miracles she can pull to save the team.

Her poke is still good with E max. E and Q have the exact same base, it's just that you're hitting one person with E as opposed to Q

So I see so many Lulu Mids now in the pro scene and high solo Q. I thought it was a random niche or troll pick sometimes but it seems legit....what makes her strong now all of a sudden? Are her ratios/dmg good?

Adding extra 1k health and like 600 shield to a 300+ armor 150 mr mundo/renekton/shyv is pretty good. Also the lane is super safe. Also excellent roam since +30 (.1)% ms boost is bonkers

lulu mid's biggest weakness is that it gives "toxic" players an excuse to start bitching and insulting their teammates before the game even starts. you have to do some serious psychological massaging just to make sure they aren't more concerned with proving that they are right about lulu being a bad pick than they are with winning the game.

lulu can sort of do all her spells damage by proxy. You can E and R your own tanks, and if you really need them to go hard you can W them too, and then fire your Q from the said tank at 1k range away from you for a 2 second 80% slow, which doesnt decrease much over the 2s if you have a lot of AP, meaning you have a super shyv or vi running at you while you can barely move, and even after you can use W to CC anyone jumping in and have about 1k burst so its real good vs assassins too which are quite popular now.
edit: LOL if you get W with 500 AP on an olaf he gets like +80% movement speed WTFFFF
i dunno what the best champ is to do that with, olaf is good, singed is good.
there's got to be some champion thats just completely broken with lulus 1.5k~ health boost and 80% speed boost and 60%+80% slows
