I guess I just caught him at a bad time. Also the "explaining everything you do" thing doesn't really cater to me anyways.

I like it when he plays Lee Sin and Riven, that's when he goes full HAM, and that shit is hilarious.

The problem with healing in LoL is how there's nothing to prevent any of them being abusable in the long-term sustain case. The low mana cost/CD of every spell in LoL means that you're forced to reign in their combat power because it's awkward by design to make their mana costs/CDs high enough to be prohibitive for sustain.

He has said on multiple occasions that he doesn't play soloq with the same mindset he does when he plays real games. Pushes tower without wards and the like, he just tries to make plays and gain advantages on the incompetence of his opponents and it usually works out in his favor. And for someone who isn't on a team at the moment it's not like it ruins his play style when it matters.

Actually, he only plays soloq now. So.. Just gotta ignore that whine

wings is ok, he whines about getting camped so much it turns me off though. like getting ganked 2 times = camped.

I am pretty sure for wodx, there is no such word as "gank". There is only "camp".

There's nothing inherently awkward, it's just Riot's refusal to deviate from their "avoiding anti-fun" philosophy.

I could see a heal based off the target's missing hp (like karma, but who plays her?) as potentially good -- it'd heal a lot in clutch situations but suck at topping off the top half of a health bar. Incidentally, the new Crucible item heals based off % missing hp but I feel it's going to be used more for the cleanse than for the heal.
Or taken to the extreme: "If the ally has less than 30% hp, restores targeted ally to 30% of their hp". No idea how horribly broken that could be though.

Why do people watch this? Well he's one of the best NA toplanes, stream is insane quality and he explains a lot which people love. Yeah he can get really annoying and he isn't the right stream for me but I can definitely see why he's so largely viewed. Now BestRivenNA.... therein lies a mistery. Higho elo 14 year old that had an AMA on the front page of reddit is quite the gaper delay.

I don't get this statement, because Heal CD's and costs are almost always greater than the CDs and costs of non-heals. Soraka W Spam Loses to Annie Q spam.Heals are objectively bad combat spells, but when engagements are small and interspersed they are very good. Essentially they are good out of combat spells.

Those kinds of heals are too hard to balance. Its kinda like the old cheat death.

Does anyone know why he doesn't get picked at all? He seems like a really good champion with his passive armour giving him some nice defense, a long range stun when you get the combo right and also a long range splash nuke. And his Q can clear entire waves later into the game.
I build Athenes, Defensive boots, Void Staff, Rabadons mid and no-one seems quite sure what to do with him. He does have a weak pre-lvl3 since you don't get stun for a while, but after that it is reasonably easy to grab a decent amount of kills. End game you can just long range siege or harass all day, and they can't do anything about it without diving you in the midst of your team. Generally speaking anything Xerath can do other champions can do better. Ziggs serves a very similar role, but has better wave clear, a stronger laning phase, roughly equal AoE, an actual escape, and zone control. Xerath may become popular in Season 3 due to the changes to penetration mechanics. Stacking MPen on Xerath will cause him to deal true damage to any enemy with less than 140 MR. Even a Bruiser with MR/Level Glyphs, Merc's, and Spirit Visage will have an effective MR of 6. It's a ridiculous enough abuse case that it might cause him to reach FotM status. But then apparently he's boring as hell to play, so I actually expect it will take a buff to make him popular (at which point he'll get nerfed to the ground for being stupidly strong). The handful of games I've played with Xerath so far he seems to have a lot of trouble with anyone's who really good at isolating and blowing up a single person, especially because he has to stand completely still to do his full damage
I can't really figure out what advantage he would have over other long range mages like orianna and lux.

Look up his ult damage. You'll know where Lux and Ori can't beat him. Put him with Diana and it's penta material if you're fed enough.
