IMO healing is just too screwed up in the 1/3/5/7/9 leveling of skills environment. If you couldn't get rank 3 of a skill at 5 and max at 9 (maybe something like 1/4/7/12/15 instead) you wouldn't have the ability to heal for 10 autoattacks of damage during the more passive phases of the game. Also you could allow healing spells to keep good 2ndary effects (like Soraka's old buff) Nidalee's AS buff could be stronger, etc. Or you could use the WoW healing model where the same heal is worth ~ 2 equivalent offensive abilities.

The difference in my eyes is like this: Healing in LoL can counter burst and pokes, but there really isn't anything to counter sustained damage, which is the team fight prevalent form of damage and the most dangerous later into the game. The only thing that really can is equivalent sustained damage of your own and enough lifesteal/spellvamp to keep you up.
I think an interesting model would be a support with a smaller, spammable heal that increased in cost as you spammed it. I wouldn't be able to negate/deflect incoming burst like a big heal, but it would slow down "chip away" damage that you get from mid/late game ADCs and bruisers.

Well, healing doesn't really counter burst in LoL, because heals typically have longer cooldowns than the equivalent burst spell, and/or heal for less. So it just ends up putting both teams in the same position as if one of the offensive burst abilities was never used, but that offensive ability is typically up before the heal is.
I.E. Comparring Annie Q: 4s cooldown, 85/.../245+ .7 vs. Soraka W: 20 s, 70/.../350 +.45
See. Also Nunu E, Ryze Q, Veigar Q. Basically if Soraka gets caught out, W likely doesnt save her, and if her ADC is caught out, it likely doesn't save him (She would much rather have a snare, stun, slow in those situations). So its not stopping burst, or sustained damage, it counters poke, but counters poke fairly hard.

Just shitstomped a singed with farm off boots + 3 into Force of Nature garen build at first back once again. A moment of silence for FoN before it gets removed. Was one of my favourite items and it's name and stats just fit so well.
On a side note, they are removing a ton of regen from items, fon gone, randuins regen gone, philo//shurelyas regen destroyed. Warmogs didnt really gain any regen it just hit status quo honestly. I liked the regen on tank items and I thought it was very important because you get poked a lot on the front line which is why I often build randuin/warmogs over sunfire/mallet say. They consider it a useless stat I guess? Or rather, adds too much to the cost effectiveness of high tier items or something, meh.
Also, whining about getting camped top is like the dumbest thing you can do a top lane main. Like 10% of the actual top laning these days involves playing like it's a 1v1.

Well he's one of the best NA toplanes, stream is insane quality and he explains a lot which people love. Yeah he can get really annoying and he isn't the right stream for me but I can definitely see why he's so largely viewed.
