Kind of getting tired of this game changing over and over and being forced to relearn things every couple of weeks :l Like others, I wish their patching would be less often.

I don't think it's as bad as you anticipate. In the Jayce patch they bought all ranks of Body Slam up to 1050 MS. Now they're bringing it down between Rank 3 and 4. I think it's perfectly reasonable and won't hurt him too much. It's certainly a nerf, but nothing he can't survive without.

Seriously... Fuck whoever played Gragas in the tournament who caused him to go FotM and get nerfed.

His damage is the same, but the CD nerfs and Body slam speed nerf are annoying.
Survival is winning, everything else is bullshit.

Posted on the forums about the Abyssal nerf. I can agree with a slight nerf to its range, but 1000->600 was retarded. 800 or 750 or something would be fine. Make it work the average short range ability, but not as well on long-ranged ones.

Fixed: Wards no longer list that they have 20 Attack Damage.

I really hate this nerf. It takes away the option to put down offensive wards to get that extra little damage to win mirror.... oh wait nvm.

600 range = Ashe auto attack range.


I'm assuming that item auras work the same as skills do. Auto attacks have slightly higher range than spells due to how they work. Like a spell with 600 range doesn't have as much range as Ashe's autos do.

There's a red post somewhere about it after Ori's nerfs because people thought that her Q got ninja nerfed since she could auto attack further than Q traveled.

Regardless, it's still a stupid nerf imo. Deathcap is a way more powerful item than Abyssal that gets built even more frequently, I dunno why Riot felt the need to nerf Abyssal and not Dcap.

Honestly this seems to be a great example of Riot's design philosophy. DCap is an item designed as a universal AP caster item, while Abyssal is designed as a niche item. It became used almost universally so they nerfed it. Same with supports getting nerfs when they got play mid.

Riot has a clear idea of what they want items and champions used for and will nerf/buff as needed to keep things in their defined roles. This is opposed to just throwing stuff out there and letting the players figure it out/do whatever feels right. It's easy to see how this can rub players the wrong way but I can also see the designer's viewpoint as well (wanting to keep control over how their creations are used).


At 600 range I can confidently say that virtually no one will build this item.

I can get behind Riot having an initial vision of a champion but they shouldn't just nerf things to fit that vision. Twisted Fate was intended to be an AD carry, yet they let him slide as AP. Gragas was supposed to be a tank as was Galio but they're okay with them being played as AP carries.

It's the fact that Riot's nerfs are inconsistent combined with the fact that Abyssal wasn't OP in any way at all. It just gave mid laners options instead of, "always build Dcap first never not build Dcap first."

There is such a thing as middlegrounds. The lol patchs are TOO BIG TOO FAST. They could change one champion weekly instead of changing 10 every 3 weeks. The patchs would be faster but the overal changes slower.
To keep up with the ratio change/week, I think 4 changes a month + 1 champion and 1/2 changes to said champion during that month would be a good pace, and would allow for meta changes and adaptations. Get an exp boost based on day not wins, play dominion vs bots till 15, players till 30.

If they would've nerfed the AP and made it -15 MR cut it would've still been a good item for bruisers while still being a tactical choice for AP mids.

Ok, so another problem I have with this is, why should anyone say "this wasn't meant to be bought by you"? It's a good item, sure. But TOO good? I thought it was really neat that there was a good team utility option for APs which became commonplace.

I think in our modern age technology has evolved to become more addictive. The things that don't give us pleasure aren't used as much. Work was never meant to be fun, but doing it makes us happier in the long run.

I think Riot maybe wants to stop some type of playing that Abyssal was promoting, not necessarily the item itself. Perhaps mids were becoming too safe, or something. Just seems like what they said is a half truth, whereas maybe its realyl directed at something else.

It wasn't even "too good." Only like half of pro players built it as first item. Lots of people still got Dcap or got RoA on champs that required it (like Anivia). For several mids it gave them the option between more survivability while sacrificing damage or more damage while sacrificing survivability.

There were lots of pro AP mids who just got void rather than abyssal. I'm not gonna bitch about the nerf anymore I just hope that Riot starts introducing more items in season 3. Annoying that I can basically plot out my build as most champions before even starting the game and I liked that Abyssal gave me options when I played mid.

Apples to oranges. League has new champions coming out every few weeks, and even new items sometimes. It makes sense that it needs more changes in its patches (although, I think riot is a little to quick to nerf stuff most of the time)
