Right now I mostly go by feel. If I feel strong then I classify that as one of my better champs, and a strong champ overall. Because it's always possible to luck out and get the guy who's new to ranked, and to go 15-0 in solo top before the 20 minute mark, it's hard to go by win ratio or kdr. On July 22 2012 17:24 Arisen wrote: Im wondering if anyone has any tips for leveling an account pretty fast? I'm a pretty new LoL player and have heard all the horror stories about ELO hell, and when I did my placements on my first account to hit 30, I won like 4/5 and have been climbing ever since (almost to 1500). While this is all well and good, I really want to try out "elo hell" and maybe stream/commentate my games from a pretty low rating (idk, maybe 600) to 1200-1300) and try to make some fun/helpful tips on getting out ![]() Any suggestions on the best way to get to 30 asap without buying boosts? And is there any way to forfeit your games in the rankings? I mean, I don't really want to screw over people who are trying to get ranked highly when I do get there. Thanks! People have done this before in the past. When ELO dodging was acceptable, many many people would dodge to lower their elo and then play at a lower rank. It's no longer possible. Getting to 30 the fastest, I think can happen from buying an illegal account, followed by spamming games with exp boosts on dominion? I recommend you find someone else who has an account that they wouldn't mind getting some ELO on. But even then, I doubt people want a high elo where all they do is feed.

Though it's mostly two categories: those who do this, then get their account back and only play ranked once in awhile to avoid Elo decay, and those regularly go down, pay somebody to rise their Elo, and repeat the cycle.

I just don't understand HoG wasnt giving many stats since they removed cloth armor in the first place. you were paying 350? for 70 health and gp10, now you're paying the same for 20health and gp10. You arent losing very much stats on it regardless, it still pays for itself in the same time as philo and it still builds into randuins.

The thing with Philo->Shurelya's is that Kindle first isn't that much better, and it's not like you're going to buy all of Shurelya's all in one go. Whereas Warden's is actually really good and totally undervalued because everyone's like OMG GP10 and always buys HoG first without thinking about it when it's probably not better.

Warden's mail undervalued? That thing absolutely wrecks all autoattacking champions. I still get hog first though, mixing in warden's when I need my first big armor item (unless I'm going FH). Oh yeah, one year later, and you can still upgrade philo to elesia's then sell for a 10gp gain. Only item I think where you can upgrade and sell for a profit.

If you keep HoG until 15 minutes and sell it, you come out with a net gain of nothing. Over the 15 minutes you held the HoG, 11 of those minutes it was worth less than its value in gold, and for 4 it was worth more. You'd be better off just buying Ruby Crystals/Giant's Belts that build into items you want--which would be cost-effective for the whole 15 minutes. Obviously you could sell HoG later when it's made some profit, but given that the break-even time is 11 minutes, and that itemized gold value is worth more in earlier fights (e.g. 300 gold worth of item deficit is a bigger deal in fights at 15 minutes where people have ~2k gold worth of items, than at 25 minutes when people have ~6k gold worth of items), practically speaking people very rarely play games where HoG is held long enough for the lategame gold surplus to outweigh the early game gold deficit. On July 23 2012 03:34 arb wrote: You arent losing very much stats on it regardless, it still pays for itself in the same time as philo and it still builds into randuins. So by your logic, an 800 gold gp10 item that gives no other stats would still be worth buying because "it still pays for itself in the same time as philo". How long the item takes to pay for itself is a worthless metric, because it doesn't take into account the value of the stats on the item. Philo is good because it breaks even pretty much right out of the gate. HoG doesn't break even for 11 minutes now. That is a LONG time. Or you could, you know, finish Shurelya's, which is a fantastic item for like 90% of the champions that buy Philo Stone in the first place.

Also, can I get some champ recommendations for top lane vs Riven/Darius/Olaf? I used to just pick Urgot against anyone that made me scared to pick Akali or Fiora, but the nerfs make him really no fun at all.

Yorick is really strong vs darius and can do well vs olaf, I tend to think of riven as a counter to yorick but kennen and teemo are good vs her.

The best I saw was a turtle maxing ( standard) udyr that actually traded decently with yorick, but things like the Nasus rumor are total bullshit xD, I guess Riven is kinda ok too. @nmbr Yorick is good against all 3 of them, Kennen is ok vs Riven but I thik Riven still has an advantage when the person knows how to play riven, and believ eit or not Singed totally owns Olaf^^. Irelia also does decently against all 3 of them, better nerf irelia.
