He will get buffed... If anything. Winrates show that he doesnt win even nearly half his games Might be because too many people try him as AD carry (at which he is bad) or jungler (at which he is mediocre at best). Once people find the best role and items for him, his winrate will rise quickly. Jayce feels pretty safe as a top lane pick, I don't see him losing any top lane match ups, due to the nature of his ranged/melee switching abilities. With that being said, I also don't see him dunking on a whole bunch of top lanes either. I don't think he needs a buff *yet*, I don't want him to end up being like Riven (balanced when released, but no one knew how to play her, then they over buffed her).
I think he's probably best played as a more DPS focused bruiser, I've seen too many people rush Fmallet on Jayce. I could see bilgewater cutlass rush w/ brutalizer as very good solo lane items early on for him. His full item build will probably end up looking like, boots/ghostblade/lw/maw/BT/GA

So, I'm really unhappy that Dragon/Baron kills get time stamped in chat now. I like that it tells you who killed it, but I don't think it should announce it in chat.
It's convenient, sure. And I appreciate it sometimes because I'm a lazy midlaner who never keeps timers. But because of that, I've developed a pretty good "6th sense" for when the buffs are coming back up. The time stamps completely remove any dependence on keeping timers or having a sense for the respawn time (except on red.blue I suppose).
It's one less thing to separate good junglers from better junglers (or teams in general). It might not seem that significant to some, but I really do think they should remove the chat announcement.

One thing I don't understand is why people say jayce is bad in the jungle? Sure his first clear may not be the best, but he clears decently with QW - mana not much of an issue cuz W passive. And his ganks are awesome - speed boost, ranged attacks, gap closer that slows letting you E knock them towards your tower.

Jayce bot basically gives you leona Jarvan without the lack of range for farming creeps/coming out of the lane phase.

You can [all] chat spam a bit to push the message up so it's more annoying to look for it :D

Jayce bot actually not that bad. Granted I think Teemo bot is also viable with the right support but Jayce doesn't really have any issues farming and brings way more utility to the table than your average AD bot.
In order of preference, he can be run top, bot, or jungle. His jungle seems really bad early, and he needs the farm from lane to be relevant lategame.

I write down the time where it'll respawn anyway so I doesn't change much for me when the opposing team does it. How do you time stuff btw? When it got killed/dropped (for a ward), or when it'll respawn/disappear? I prefer the second personally, as I find it easier to get a quick look whenever by pressing the chat history key.

When dragon dies a lot of people type enter d enter and its the same damn thing. Nothing to do with being skilled just a bit of extra effort.

typically, you type out the time it will respawn in chat.
edit: in any case, I find it doesn't matter anyways, since the only time any1 actually remembers the respawn is when somebody types out a 1 min warning, so there's still about the same burden of attention involved for the person keeping track.

I personally don't do anything to time it. I base a lot of my insight on when blues spawn/get taken since I'm so dependent on it. Or I just have a general sense of when 6/7 min are about to pass. I just think it was a dumb addition.

run Leona Jayce with someone who can hit Zentih blades and your order will change, Leona combo with into the skies followup is hilarious.
@Soniv, still it beats the alternative of the occasional who got it situations.

Oh, I like the overhead announcement, I just dislike the chat announcement.
@shikyo, idk, did someone? And would that be considered cheating? (would be in my book)
|
No idea, I just read about that somewhere some time ago.
I think I've seen a few games where they type a seemingly scripted "Dragon will respawn at xx" whenever it died, so probably there's those around. I'd kind of consider it cheating but on the other hand... It's not like you're modifying game files or anything.

I have stupid ideas all day long I should stop theory crafting...
But how would you start with a 550 bank ? What if assists worked like in DotA (you only need to be near the dead body) ? Would be a nice Karthus nerf Would you buy lvl2 boots which are ONLY lvl2 boots for 250g from lvl1 boots ? Moar MS = moar action

Its Jabebot... you just /w jabebot !timer dragon when you get it and it reminds you in 5 mins that it respawns in 1 minute.. not illegal btw or it would be shut down already

I still plan on timing Dragon/Nashor. Having someone post the respawn time is still useful as it reinforces that future point in the minds of your team. I've actually found that I rarely scroll back for timers because simply by posting them I lock them in memory.
Also, with all the other crap that ends up in chat scrolling back trying to find the dragon timer can be hellish. It's much easier to pick out someone saying "1737d" than trying to find the "[17:37] SOANDSO has killed the dragon!" amidst all the kills, downed turrets etc.
While this still makes timers easier, I'm somewhat ambivalent. Timing buffs was never anything more than some simple math and habit. The real skill was always in caring about timers in the first place, thinking 1-2 minutes ahead of them, and getting your team together with precision and punctuality.
However, I will probably put more effort into timing blue/red camps. I should have been doing that before anyway.

A bad first clear is in and of itself enough to disqualify a champion from jungling, and Jayce's first clear is bad. He's essentially relegated to Cloth Armor + 5 Potions as any other opening will collapse without a leash. Direct counter-jungling could easily be fatal for him even in good conditions. The first clear is what sets the tempo for the rest of a jungler's game, and Jayce's clear is too risky to be seriously competitive.

550 gold = dorans + 2x hp pots, remember when riot had a problem with dorans + 1x hp pot?
Assists based on proximity would just make you feel really crap if you healed/buffed/damaged somebody within the assist timer and then, because you had to run elsewhere, lost the assist. If you're janna, and drop a shield on somebody and then run off to help somebody else, and you lost whatever assist because of range, then that would just feel awful, for no reason at all.
Pretty much only supports (who end up with excess slots) can afford something with such garbage slot-efficiency as a boots 2 with no other stats.
