I don't see any magic resistance item being better than QSS. Even banshee's pale in comparison to QSS. It costs 1275 gold less, the active is arguably better than banshee's passive (it is, unless you are against blitzcrank/serious knock ups), gives 6 more magic resistance. Oh-ho, 375 HP and mana, you better make sure that you can use these stats REALLY well if you buy banshee's.
And that is the reason why Wit's end is going to ba a bad item. Even if we ignore the fact that almost all magic damage is burst and you won't have time to build up stacks, it just is not good enough compared to QSS in my opinion. Another thing about Wit's End was that it completely broke 1v1, it might actually be fun now.
The tenacity changes I like, except the fact that they affect silence. Liked the thing about silence not being affected, what made it in some cases better than stun, but w/e.
Jarvan nerfed but still top bruiser is cool, Karthus being nerfed but still top AP champion is cool as well. No overnerfing this patch and that's great. That's about everything I think about this patch ^^

Jarvan nerfs are okay, but laughable if they think it'll actually do anything. Nocturne and Karthus nerf is meh. Shen change is retarded. He's strong cause of his ult, not cause he "deals too much damage" without having to itemize. Gangplank sucks. So they increase his range...yea...>.> ... what? So, nerfing champions that are too strong and buffing champions that are too weak makes for a "retarded patch"...?

For the few recent patches there's a bad tendency going on - when people have obvious issues with certain champs/items they tend to "fix" something that is entirely different. Like they recognize problems with tanky DPS champions (with Irelia, Renekton and Jarvan being the obvious examples) and instead of nerfing those they kill HoG and nerf Xin Zhao.

So now they announce they're going to nerf Jarman, and people are going about how that's going in the wrong direction? I really don't get it.
Besides, HoG WAS too strong, if you ask me. They went overboard with the nerfs and now it kinda sucks, but a nerf was warranted.

Better fix to hog would have been to drop g/5 and kept armor.

The new Tenacity items are interesting, but I'm confused as to why they only gave them 25 Tenacity. 10% CC reduction difference is hard to quantify, but every millisecond can matter in high level fights.
Moonflair Spellblade looks horrible. I can't see any AP caster reasonably considering that option. Cloak and Dagger is at least a dual-scaling item for AD carries, but Merc's + Zeal is comparable in cost and trades 10% crit and Zerker's attack speed for movespeed, tenacity and MR. Eleisa's Miracle gives a monumental 10 mp5 when completed, and strikes me as the most likely to actually be seen in a game.

People were actually complaining about Shen's damage?

Boots always outperform all alternatives on their "secondary" stats. Mercurys is the best source for Tenacity because Berzerkers are the best for Attackspeed. Spellblade is interesting for casters that pick Spellpen boots over Mercurys.

Thankfully Riot doesn´t balance based on what people complain about.
A Shen that builds pure migitation (for his W) outperforms any other champ with a similar build. On the other hand he can´t really build for damage. Shens ultimate isn´t good for it´s Shield (otherwise Soraka would be FAR more popular)but because it teleports Shen. The issue is what he can do to save the guy he ulted, not the functionallity of the ult on it´s own.

Yeah I did kinda forget about Malady when I looked at Wit's End earlier. New Wit's End still looks good for Warwick and Trundle though, since they'd never have been able to use the mana burn effectively anyway since they can't poke down a mana pool before the fight and Malady's AP and MR shred are mostly useless for them (more useful for Warwick but he also instantly stacks Wit's End's MR now with his ult anyway). I'll probably try out building it after I get Wriggles/Mercs/Triforce on Trundle now, since I tend to want some sort of MR item after that anyway.
---
The Tenacity change is strange because I thought part of the reason they wanted to make the change (based on reading red posts a couple months ago) was precisely so Irelia and other champs with CC reduction didn't stack their innate reduction with mercs, but I guess Riot abandoned that.
On another note silences get slammed by CC reduction actually applying to them once this goes live. Big nerf to Soraka and Cho.

does it bother anyone else that the last def tree mastery is also called tenacity

A little bit, yea. I'm also slightly bothered by Meditation (mastery) and Yi's Meditate.

So, nerfing champions that are too strong and buffing champions that are too weak makes for a "retarded patch"...? No, it's the fact that the way they're nerfing the OP champs and buffing the UP champs. Jarvan nerfs are laughable if they think they're going to do anything. Increasing mana cost won't do jack shit especially since running philo or duo philo stones seems to be the new FotM, so Jarvan wont' run out of mana anyways. The ulti and shield nerf will depend on how hard it was hit. Mostly though, the fact that Jarvan gets a free LW with his q and he has a spammable escape/knockup wasn't addressed at all.
GP change will do absolutely nothing. Unless they buffed his stats a ridiculous amount he's still useless. Melee dps champs suck in the current meta unless they're tanky melee dps. GP isn't tanky; he'll just get blown up instantly in teamfights. He was only half-useful before 'cause he had the ability to control creep waves extremely well while turtling and farming like a mofo to get a retardedly expensive endgame set of items to rape everyone with. At the same time, he had pretty decent map presence with his ult. Now he has no lane control, his ulti is shit, and he still gets blown up instantly.
I said the Karth and Noct changes were meh because they were strong, but weren't exactly OP imo. Nocturne was strong not really because of his base damages but more because he was a jungler with a near-global ult.
|
Wit's End change is just straight up retarded. I don't see why they didn't just nerf the amount burned if it was "too strong."
Champs that need the attack speed won't waste gold on a Wit's End. PD, SotD, and Malady are all better choices. In terms of Mres, there are still better choices especially when half of the mres given by Wit's End is conditional and doesn't take effect until you hit stuff a few times. The 42 magic damage is worthless on most champs that would need aspd because it's magic damage.
People have been saying it might still be good on WW and stuff, but honestly...why not just get a QSS or a Veil or FoN instead for the magic resist. They're all better.
|
Noc is strong because he has a crazy CC and a near-global ult, along with a ridiculously safe, quick, and easy jungle. He is, in short, TF #2. And in conjunction with TF means there is a very quick double-gank almost anywhere on the map. Yet they decided to nerf his... spell? Wat.
Karth is strong because of his lane control in good hands and his global presence, except they feel the need to nerf Karth's ult and not the real global gay heroes (Shen/TF/Noc). Makes sense.
Jarvan is strong because he has two jumps, innate tankiness, a damage increase, two AoEs, a retarded passive, and two forms of CC (both AoE!) that cannot be QSS'd. Wait, that means he has 5 OP skills, all in one!

Like getting rid of Gangplank deny, this isn't a change because Wit's End is too strong. This is a change because Riot doesn't want mana burn in the game.

Actually it's because, as they said, Mana Burn is either really strong or absolutely worthless, and in 99% of cases it was just absolutely worthless lol. They tried to rework it to be more useful while still being anti-mage, but unfortunately its cost is still too high to justify buying it. They should really remove from Bow to Dagger and make like a 1200 gold item that does that, while making it buildable into a bigger item.
