What's the best source of information now on the game? Are there any sources of information about hero strength, build orders, and strategy for HOTS that are as good as TeamLiquid for Starcraft?
I recommend playing through every hero while they are on rotation and not concern yourself yet with guides out there. Once you get a good feel for a hero feel free to ask here because TeamLiquid is hopefully gonna be the best source of info. With that said, you can hit up hotslog to see which heroes are played the most, which talents were chosen, etc.
Tyrande first pick should become a thing, she is by far one of the more fun supports to play. Less focused on heals and more focus on team buffs/vision and a bonus stun. That said, I'm rooting for SK gaming.

True, i forgot that one, so 1/4 winrate on streamed matches. At least, it's a very interesting team comp and last week game was awesome :D

Ok, so chen is to ultimate, seperate the enemy team, while the rest gangbang somebody with shitload of stuns and Tyrande's mark of dead.

I also just noticed their team technically doesn't have an assassin. 2 support 2 warrior 1 spec. I'm still trying to figure out what Anub brings to the table that something like Kerrigan would not bring but better.
|
Longer range and double stun (and coocoon) i would guess, and he is more tanky. They don't really want to gather their opponents, just disgregate them and focus one of them hard. Kerrigan would do the oppossite.
|
I think cursed hallows doesn't lend itself very well for melee assassins, and el nexo definitely played the space more than the opponent. They zoned with tyrande's ult, chen, anub stun + cocoon and outplayed sk.
|
Nazeebo vs Tyrande, ETC and Anub? Don't see RS lasting for too long in this game.
|
lol yeah the hammer + nazeebo pick against so much cc doesn't seem too good, we'll see how it goes
|
Not sure why El Nexo decided to fight into a full graduated siege tank when they could have just as easily taken the bottom (and easier to defend) temple
|
They tend to do that kind of mistakes. Like on game one loosing a teamfight just for one keep. Same for the ending on game 3, they win the teamfight at the boss, and instead of taking the boss, when 3 temples are coming, they chase like crazy nazeebo and hammer xd
Sometimes they are really impatient and just want to win the game right away and make that kind of throws.
If they had taken boss, it would had been game right there for them.
|
Yeah seems like they have a bit of a problem with seeing a potential kill and getting tunnel vision. Sometimes in games like these you need to let a hero slip away to accomplish something more important. I'm sure in more time they'll fix that up -- it seems to be a common problem with new-to-MOBA players.

I actually believe they do it that way, average MMR, but if you get one 1500 and one 4500, it's hardly the same as 2, 3000. Specially if we consider that game sense is more important than mechanics and if the 4500 doesn't take an active roll herding the other players through his experience, or the others are too stubborn to follow, his 4500 won't matter that match. I had felt like the weak link in most games where i had been paired with top 200 MMR on hotslogs, and certainly it doesn't feel great.
On quickmatch about anything works to be honest, specially soloQ. Gazlowe is pretty decent in some maps, but people who say some hero just sucks is wrong, it sucks because of high level of play his abilities don't pay off, but we are not there. It doesn't matter it's bronze or diamond, we are just bad, the highest leap on skill is always at the top.
I know that it has me at silver. Not sure what that means when it is missing so much of the data either (at one point in time I was missing 12 wins on Stitches there but only 1 loss on him...thats got to skew things). However, I'd say at least 20% of the games I play in both Hero league and quick match I lose simply due to having someone afk (even in hero league) or someone who refuses to join for objectives. I know that happened to nights ago where I was queuing with friend who just got into the beta to help his exp up and we went 3-3 but EVERY loss had an AFK player that would move around the base occasionally or in one game a guy that solo laned as Zagara the entire map. And yet somehow those losses reflect an MMR. Its like the season in SC2 was I was masters in 4v4 and 3v3, but couldn't get out of silver league in 2v2, while diamond in 1v1. Random team leagues are just random...
I haven't played a MOBA before late alpha before and am enjoying it and didn't read the page where my profile was quoted. But I'm glad someone would go through the trouble of linking my profile..especially when I've never made a single claim about balance or understanding the game (other than the rate to get gold but that isn't balance).

I think the links here are still relevant: http://heroesofthestorm.github.io/tips
Also speaking of hotslogs ever since last patch I haven't been able to upload any replays, they all come back as 'pre-alpha wipe'. So my Hero League stuff is mostly there (as other people seem to be able to upload just fine), but I'm missing just about all my latest QM stuff. Which I guess is fine as QM is just for losing now it turns out -_- (I may start doing dailies on co-op just to save my sanity at this rate).

As i said, i quoted you for the amount of games, for the discussion we were having before. I should had sent the response in PM to be honest, so i apologize if you think i wanted to shit on your rank, because i certainly didn't (and i think i had made it transparent enough in my posts).
Meanwhile, 3DMAX pummeling Acer as expected.

i was just pointing out that calling your teammates scrubs, noobs and similiar terms is silly when you can't even reach top 20% of the server. the exact number here doesnt matter, im using it as an example correlating to sc2, where if you werent at least diamond people would dismiss you while repeating you just need to learn basic mechanics, build workers, etc. even then, somebody in this thread also made a nice point in saying that if you're not wearing a team jersey and have a sponsor, you shouldn't be making such accusations against other players. inb4 it was also you ^_^ i agree on most of your points, but i still think hotslogs mmr can be a decent estimate of where you are at, if you dont take if at face value and realize its flawed in many ways. in example, if you play with someone with 1.5k hotslogs mmr and someone with 3k, you will know...
I think there are 4 tiers of lay right now from my own experience.
There are people who fall into the game blowing category because they - have never played the hero before maybe are even talent gated, people who don't understand the objectives or how to work as a team, or players that are afk to exp/gold farm. These players are absolutely terrible to play with and they can be worse than playing with AIs sometimes.
Players that understand the general concepts and make their mistakes on timing, positioning, overextending, and so forth.
Players that understand the concepts, make few mistakes, and are very sharp on timing and positioning and can anticipate the other team's moves. Starting to learn patience.
Players that can do all of the above with impeccable control and coordinate even better. Have patience throughout the game and especially at critical points...sometimes you'll see them just bounce back and forth and not even attack until the moment is perfect. That NEVER happens in low level games.
But yeah both ends of the curve tend to slope as a parabola. The difference between silver in diamond is less than low bronze to silver or high diamond to masters if the system is working right. Its very frustrating though to find that the matchmaker is just making your games wins or losses based on how many players that are contributing nothing or sometimes a negative end up on your team. I know I had a win recently where we had a Raynor that had 5 kills and 16 deaths...our enter team was ~22 deaths. That's a hard thing to overcome...

Did you delete some of the replays in your folder? It caches the names with what was uploaded so if you had HauntedMines(#) then it will think that is an old replay even though it is a new one. You need to delete the cache to fix this issue.
Go into options and reset all uploads option will clear the cache.

Oh I don't really care and don't remember who was talking about what or why...I normally just open the last page or next to last page of the thread and start reading somewhere as I sometimes have 4-5 pages to read between visits (there seriously should be multiple threads, maybe soon).

There will always be a game here or there where you simply have inferior players but you'll never get better at these kind of games by blaming your team and not reflecting upon your own play and figuring out how you could played better to cause a more favorable outcome. At the end of the day you only control your own player.

I clicked the option to save all replays in HoTs. But my filesystem might be having issues as I often have several files with no date in the upload dialog. I'll go try clearing options a try when I get home to see if that helps.
I should add that I've only been playing since December, so it was post-alpha wipe. Which is why the message is so confusing to me.

At worst clearing the cache will cause it to attempt to reupload all the replays in your folder. If you have hundreds of games that might take awhile though.
