Watch streams when you aren't playing.
When you are playing, focus on one hero and learn game mechanics and that hero's strategy. Even after you've think you've master that hero, make sure you master the game mechanics. Now you'll have the basics to learn the next hero and so on and so forth. That's the basis of learning any moba from a newbie perspective.

Playing this game in party of at least 3 = 8/10, fun expieriance. Playing this game in solo queqe after beta patch - 1/10, i think hitting wall with head would be more fun.

I don't even play anymore solo tbh, the MMR variance solo is just way to much for a game where it's not really possible to carry.
|
I'm convinced that with a true soloQ, this would change.
|
with a "true" soloQ you would also eliminate teams of 4. furthermore waiting time for 2/3 premades would go through the roof. doubt they want that.
better solution would be to simply leave the soloQ mmr untouched when you q premade.

I think the main problem here is that Blizzard is loosing the MMR-range too quickly. If I don't find a match the first 20 seconds it feels like they just take anyone to fill up the game, which is the wrong approach. If they would wait a minute or so to properly find matches of even numbers(2/3 premades vs 2/3 premades for example) it'd be much better. I'd rather wait a little longer than to waste 15-20 minutes on a hopeless game.
I don't know if freezing your soloQ mmr is going to solve it, since the problem is not that your MMR raises so high playing with friends, the problem is that your mmr plummits when playing alone.
|
aren't that two sides of the same coin? I realized that the most useful skill to have in soloQ is map awareness and ability to guide your mates of some sort. this is very different from a 5man premade were you can focus more on "raw" skill and TS makes coordination a lot easier.
i do think that the skillsets from soloQ and premades are different enough to justify having two different MMR for soloQ and premades. (maybe even more depending on teamsize)

Solo-queue will be fine once Blizzard starts matching people of similar/identical ranks. Right now, Blizzard thinks it's a good idea to match Rank 1 people with Rank 47 people. I'm hoping (but I doubt) that this is simply a population issue -- ie there aren't enough players. The reason why I don't think that this is the case is because this was not an issue during the alpha.

so i think ive accidentally found a bug in the game... when you play with sgt hammer on garden terror map, and enemy terror turns you into a plant while sieged, after you turn back to tank you have the ability to move (not just slowly, but like full speed) while sieged... and no, i did not get slow movement ability on 16, i got gradual increase in range. is this working as intended or is it really a bug?
also, why dont the thrusters for hammer reset after you die?

So me and a buddy has been duo queuing with Illidan and Rehgar. This combo seems incredibly broken. Maybe it's because we just play in quick match, since he doesn't have the required levels or heroes to play in the big leagues, but we're just wrecking everything. We had a game where we litteraly 2on5'd their team while our plant guy destroyed their entire base, with like 55k exp contribution while our team had lowest around 25k.
It feels like a tiny/wisp combo on speed, which is something we play in dota too.
On the other hand, I'm not sure I'm capable of winning with any other heroes than Zeratul or Illidan. That's not very good for my ego.

A good Illidan player with any good support player will do some serious work.

Indeed.
Also, they should just release the game, the queue times makes for funny matchmaking... Giving keys randomly is just retarded. 5 minutes on any queue (hero league and quickmatch) and i am very low diamond or plat (hero league).
On EU primetime. The game is dead or the matchmaking is retarded, or a combination of both (this didn't happen on alpha as you guys are saying, so i don't understand this). I can't see how many more people are playing the game anymore, which makes me wonder.

I don't think the game is technically ready for release yet. At the very least the rejoin mechanic is stupid and unusable, but there are several other glaring issue. I think people are just impatient because they want the game and don't understand that they are working on more during the beta than a few heroes every so often.

In a world where the only thing release really means is that the reviews get written, you have every incentive to work out every technical kink before release.
It's also really important for them to get the number of heroes up before release. On a quick, bullet-point comparison with other MOBAs this is an obvious deficiency.
Things like balance are, interestingly, less important for that specific goal, as important as they may be for the game's long term survival.

Cool bug I encountered a few days ago, dunno if they fixed yet.
When Stitches gorges someone, and then Zeratul VPs Stitches, the gorge will still spit the person out while Stitches is VPed. If Stitches is facing the right way, then the person can pop out outside of the VP. Makes Zeratul a really strong counter to Stitches.

I don't know, I am playing only quick matches so far as I don't possess 10 heroes yet, but my queues are always between 10 seconds and 1 minute, maybe 2 minutes the most and I am on EU. It doesn't matter if I am alone or with friends.

i guess it also depends what you are playing. if you play a healer/support your search time should be significantly lower.

I assume in QM and Coop the matchmaking tries to at least make the team composition balanced right? I had a weird game last night where I queued into Coop as Jaina and ended up in a team with Valla, Tychus, Zeratul and Nova. Lucky it wasn't a QM game because that just sounds like the most horrible composition ever imagined. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a 4 stack either because the next game, I queued right into a team with the Tychus again without any of the other 3. So that's at least 2 people solo queuing as Assassins being matched with another 3 that are all assassins? That's some weird bug and I really hope its just Blizzard not giving two shits about team composition in bot games. I had an issue in QM once with a 3 assassin + zagara + tyrande team while solo queuing (needless to say, we lost this game quite badly) but it wasn't as outstandingly weird compared to this.

Solo q is not fun Considering all of my friends only plays dota.

I just haven't seen him come up in a pro match, but it is possible that Gazlowe is seriously undervalued?
I was messing around with him and he just seems pretty strong on both Dragonshire and Temple...but he did work for me on Booty Bay as well. It could just be that I'm getting scrubs in quickmatch.
