Team compositions are "usually" better because you aren't grouped randomly with 4 other preselected heroes but the level of play isn't much different. You'll get shat on if you pick a "bad" hero though^^ | ||

The UI needs continued improvement. I want to be able to click on other units!! How much hp/mana do they have? How long on their cooldowns (for allies)? Is it just me or is Penetrating Shot (raynor nuke) really stupid? Why does your only nuke push the target away from you? Is it an escape? I mean hypothetically you can get behind someone and push them toward your team but that should not be your assassin's job. Some of the heroes need work; they are just straight up weaker versions of other heroes. In DOTA/League these weaknesses are balanced out by the availability of mobility items. The talents in HOTS do not do a good job of balancing these (yet at least). Some of the maps are much more fun than the others. The haunted mines is probably my favorite and the garden terrors my least favorite. The pirate ship map tends to lead to the longest games due to the huge number of merc camps and the size of the map. Do I think it can compete in terms of popularity with LoL and DOTA? It's possible with the right support and marketing from Blizzard. The daily quest system provides incentive and it seems much easier to get FakeMoney to buy characters or skins than in League. League and DOTA have a huge lead (why the fuck did it take blizzard so long to go live with this game? Why is it even still in beta??) but the video game/esports market is growing. TL;DR - fun, more casual version of LoL/DOTA that needs some ui improvements. | ||

Raynor skillshot is an knockback/stun (even unupgraded, it has a small stun component), that also has a pushback, it's useful to zone out melees, interrupt skills, and setting up kills with the stun talent. With some talents it may be an important source of damage, but otherwise raynor has always relied on his autoattack to do the heavy lifting. I haven't played much Raynor after patch tho, so there may be some builds that use it to full extend as a damage dealer skillshot. If you want a ranged assassin which relies more on abilities, Valla, Tychus are there as cheap options. Objectives are important, but playing smart is more important. IE, Cursed hollow, if your opponent tries for a 5 stack tribute, it's smarter to get the 3 lanes xp instead and give up the objective. Knowing what your opponent might be doing is important, knowing when to merc is important (many people just uselessly get mercs at bad timings all the time whom are wasted because you are not pushing another lane for the creeps to freely destroy walls/forts). Everything you do, if you are doing it for the team, will be an advantadge, if you want to be the solo owner carry of doom who just wins the map by himself by submiting opponent's teams due to being overfed, this game is not for you. If you feel like when you are doing something you are not being rewarded, it is probably because you weren't being a useful part of the team in the first place. IE - chasing down an opponent at 10% when ress timers are at 10seconds or the like, and you could be getting xp on a lane and pushing it, is very probably to not be worth it, specially if he already used a fountain. | ||

There are already talents that differentiate between abilities and attacks which is essentially the same thing as physical/magical damage types. Adding another layer doesn't improve the game at all imo. But it makes for more possible variations. When you have 40 heroes, it's not a big deal, it's probably even better not having a complicated damage formula, but once the hero counter goes up, it opens possible doors for hero variety. I just don't want HotS roster to become boring like LoL. | ||

Do you think dota2 removing composite damage made the game worse since it removed depth or do you think it improved clarity and made a bunch of ability interactions more obvious and easier to understand? This was always the best part of blizzard rts. The heroes feel so characterless because they hardly talk now or have epic quotes - Death summary. I want to know what killed me. -quick match should have at least 1 tank and 1 assasin per team and all-chat but they'll never add that ![]() | ||

Death Summary has to be in the pipeline. The clickable stuff, I get they're doing what HOTS did because like the concept of "deselecting" a unit is just completely alien to people who dont play RTS. I get that, but make it a target frame like WoW/League so we have best of both worlds. Hero voices, they have cut interactions, but honestly if there's one thing I want to rip off Dota 2, is the EXTREMELY extensive voice acting. You have all these famous characters with 20 years of backstorie, I think we can put in more than 2 minutes of voice acting compared to Dota 2's average of 15-20. It just adds so much to the characters, and the thing with this genre, ideally we'll be playing this years down the line, why not have extensive voice acting so wer'e not bored of the voicework a few months from now of. | ||
