you dont pull this kind of crap in sports. at any level.
in baseball, if anybody tried to run up the score, you can guarentee players will be thrown at, hard slides, etc etc. in basketball my guess is there would be hard fouls and the like.
but then again, this is girls sports. and to have a differential of 100 points, its probably not a competitive league either.

Exactly. In fact this is way more disrespectful because they where playing to get the score up to 100 wich was not so friendly in first place. I mean once youre winning 50-0 its obvious that theres something unbalanced in the game and that reaching 100 is not a like a valid goal.
well I just think all you people that think the apology is stupid is because you're all tainted by how people act in SC (ie. you never see someone apologize for owning someone real bad in SC)
but I think forfeiting the match is taking it a bit too far. I really doubt the losing girls' team wants that much pity
Obviously a case of poor sportsmanship as it's an unspoken rule of mutual respect to not run up the score against a defeated opponent. That said, I'm not sure how I feel about how much positive reinforcement the losing team is getting for being completely and utterly defeated in the game. Being invited to watch a Mavs game in a suite for losing a game by 100-0? C'mon...
Winners go home and fuck the prom queen who becomes pregnant and has a life of ruin for the both of them. The losers put a gun to their mouths and end it early.

No problem then. The losing team has either already forgotten about the loss or thinks the score was 100-0 in their favor.
It's just ettiquitte. Full court press when the other team hasn't scored a point? Really? Or did I read that wrong.
Anyway it's like taking a shot at the end of the game when you're already going to win in the NBA, it can piss people off. Or walking a hitter on purpose when you have a 10 run lead.

Lol, I hope this was recorded i wanna watch the game
In my opinion, its an insult to go easy on another opponent, or just "play around" if you feel like you have won the game. It's just like making pylon hearts in Starcraft.
If you treat your opponent as a equal opponent regardless of their performance, at least you are respecting them. If you go easy on them, you don't even show them the same respect as another player; but that of something inferior
How fucking smug of them to offer a forfeit.. obviously they can't (and shouldn't) change the game to a forfeit, it's just a way for the winning team to act like their classy. That was also one of the reasons it got so much media attention.
i feel like shit more when i lose to someone who isn't trying at all than being completely owned by someone who is trying to the best of their abilities.
I think the reason they suck so bad is: "Dallas Academy has eight girls on its varsity team and about 20 girls in its high school.". With almost half the school on the team you dont really have the ability to get to choose the most talented players. But if you know you are going to get owned and still sign up I dont see why anyone should care if you get owned or not. Someone is going to finish last in every game, competition ect. If you dont want to finish last quit, but then someone else is going to finsih last and so on. When I played football (I think I was 10 or so) we once lost a game with 16-0. Next time we played them we beat them with 7-2. Getting badly beaten didnt crush our tiny hearts or scar us for life.
I think this stems from the fact that there have been some kinda high publicized incidents with high school sports (I think the last case was in football where a team wins by some huge margin then gets a backlash against them. Plus they are christian schools so they don't want that kind of image of them being such idiots. Basically they should have rested starters by half and not pressed for turnover so they wouldn't be in this situation. I like the other story recently where a team played a team from a detention hall for high schoolers where the other team had half their fans root for the other team and gave them a sense for actually having a "home game" and that people care.
You don't play a full court press against a team that you outclass. It's tasteless and they should be ashamed of it.
I can only imagine how pathetically bad the losing team must have been. They shouldn't have even been in the same division in the first place, but if the game had to be played, the coach should have had some sense and changed the defense rather than being a prick and cheering them on to 100, as if it was an achievement.
