With almost half the school on the team you dont really have the ability to get to choose the most talented players. But if you know you are going to get owned and still sign up I dont see why anyone should care if you get owned or not. Someone is going to finish last in every game, competition ect. If you dont want to finish last quit, but then someone else is going to finsih last and so on.
When I played football (I think I was 10 or so) we once lost a game with 16-0. Next time we played them we beat them with 7-2. Getting badly beaten didnt crush our tiny hearts or scar us for life.

Their loss had nothing to do with dyslexia, their "learning differences" aren't "learning disabilities" and it's not like they're playing against a school for the mentally challenged. Their loss stemmed from an extremely small pool of potential contenders.
It's similar to how it was with my high school sports teams. Each of the schools have their athletes, and it's simply by luck that you'll get a good player on your team because he lives in the area and attends that school. However, there was a private school in my area (De La Salle, anyone in the Bay Area has heard of them) that is famous for its excellent sports teams. While the high schools in my region were always somewhat competitive with one another, none could hope to be anywhere as good as De La Salle because that was a school that offered athletic scholarships for high school enrollment (treatment usually reserved for colleges and universities), meaning they were always able to pick and choose the best players over a much larger area than any local high school.

It's kid sports, not real competition. You're not supposed to allow steamrolling like that. It's poor sportsmanship, how can you not understand this?
My ghetto high school waterpolo team had 8 players. We played "ironman"; the whole team played the whole game, every game. Meanwhile schools that had more white kid pool boys averaged about 20 players. So they had fresh swimmers every 2 minutes, and bleachers packed with cheering, even at away games. We couldn't fill seats at home. We got rolled a lot because there just wasn't enough players/interest.

In case anyone was curious, the coach pulled his starters at the end of the 3rd quarter, when the score was 88-0. lol
You have to feel kind of bad for the backups/2nd stringers though.
"Hey coach, it's 70-0 can we get some play time?"
"No, I need at least an 80 point differential before I let you losers in."

If the opponents gave a shit about being humiliated why didn't they just forfeit at half time when the score was 50+ to 0? Its a competition, play to win and give it your all. Besides I have a feeling this team was so outclassed that the other team wasn't even trying that hard in the first place.

The problem here wasn't so much the team winning 100-0, or even the team losing 100-0. It was that the administration of the losing school, knowing full well that they would be fielding a varsity basketball team more or less held together with duct tape, decided that scheduling a game with a perennial powerhouse in that area was a good idea.
