As a matter of fact we did have technical difficulties at times. My fight with Kelly, my buttons weren't programed at all and were left default for the first match, so it had to be replayed (I had actually won that first one by some miracle). Jamal and Alyson had to re-race after some issue when he had already beat her. I think they missed some footage they needed. And even in the finals due to a glitch in a game it has to be replayed that you won't see.
But none of the games that were replayed changed the outcome of the winner, THANK GOD, cause imagine the scene that would have caused lol.

So, provided you don't sleep at all we have about 14 hours of practice and please keep in mind that there are only 4 stations to practice on and we have to rotate. I will say most people probably practiced 6-8 hours- and all of us were exhausted 24-7.
Also, we were given options as to what MIGHT be picked to play, not told which it was. For instance, PGR we were given a possibilities of 3 courses, Rockband 3 songs, VF5 3 courses etc. I only say this for the gentlemen that thought we we knew what we would be playing for sure and could practice it solely that night.
Also important to point out is the peripheral's used in competition so far are not the standard controller or obviously a keyboard and mouse, so other then music sync games everyone is learning for the first time, unless they had experience with the music sync games. This was not necessarily a bad idea, in fact I think it was a great idea as it puts everyone on equal playing field, including the predominately heave PC players who most certainly would have had a tough time playing these games on a controller that the others are very comfortable with.
I will also say the music sync games are not calibrated correctly and anyone can see this if they watch the game screen and listen at the same time. This can be overcome by adapting to the lag quickly, but never the less makes the game that much more difficult. I had the easiest job on vocals for the game and scored a 94% on a game that I scored 100% on in practice. I literally had to close my eyes at times to keep on track and I know that the instruments can't do this since they have to watch the screen unless they have the song memorized.
This really turns the competition into an adaptability, strategy, and natural gaming talent contest, which in the end I think is most certainly fair for all the contestants. You can always save yourself by gaming skills alone at the end of the day, but I will say it most certainly sucks to see someone with little experience in a particular game go against someone with alot.
Please don't look at this as an excuses for any of us, it is simply a fact that most certainly effects game play throughout the competition and was a hurdle to overcome for everyone.
And, uh, sorry for the book lol

"Here's a list of excuses. BTW, they're not excuses" Maybe, but those kind of technical difficulties are pretty legitimate. It's not that hard to deal with the spotlight and fans, but it's unnerving if you can't set configs or input is messed up. It's like trying to play CS on a spiking server. It becomes a matter of trust with the equipment.

i think the show is a lot of fun. it should be called Reality Show with Gamer Elements. its certainly not all about the gaming.
and... they should have to play starcraft at some point? no? :p

Shows been fun to watch. Yah 100k for this is pretty much 'what?' considering CS, SC players are getting what 20k for winning the WCG GRAND FINAL. Doesnt make much sense.

you show up and play for a couple hours for that.
For this show you live with these people isolated from the world under all this stress being filmed for weeks.
100k is a good amount imo.
I'm loving the show btw. I find myself looking forward to it every day, and wishing it was on more often.
I just wish I could find a good torrent for the 720p quality eps so I could rewatch them in HD.

when you come in first place and get to pick the challenger vs the person in last place... can you pick yourself to play vs them? =P

yeah that would be funny^^ lol if the person who came in last place really sucks balls at the specific game and your the shit while everybody else is mediocre/sucks and want him out 100% what better way than getting rid of him yourself~

I had to say this because I was there and know she didn't hook up with anyone as that comment would lead people to believe.
BTW, I love my mini tyreal I got from that even hehe =P
You absolutely sure? Because I definitely remember Chelsea giving some piece of paper to him. After tasteless had said he won like half a million dollars of prizemoney in the last year.
Either way if it wasnt her roomnumber that leaves me the victor because I actually played the piano with her. BEAT THAT MAJAEYOON!
(this was the sundayevening of wwi btw, I'm not sure whether I saw you there but Im pretty sure I saw you at the WCG teamliquid meet, we didnt talk to eachother though)

Hey Ciji,
a friend of mine, he is in his early 30s, for me is my personal Ultimate Gamer. He has all the major game consoles from back in the 8bit days, be it Atari, Sega, Nintendo, SNK, Sony and whatnot. Ofc he is also totally into PC games, from shooters to stuff like Maple Story. And "offline" games, tabletops, pen&paper, poker and so on. He used to skate and be physically active but both of his kidneys don't function any more because of a desease so he had even more time to play games. All in all he and his younger brothers are just game and "playing" addicts in general. In every game he plays he instantly becomes an above average player. I believe this guy would rock every single isolation gaming round. Just because he already practiced every type of game you can think of.
I don't think people underestimate you. They might just get the facts wrong. If you put a bunch of super duper allround gamers into a house things might get boring. There is no real drama because all challenges will end close. You guys in the show all have one game or a small number of games you are extremely good at. And that is how this show works. The producers are counting on the assumed fact that everyone will struggle in a certain type of game.
Of course some people in this thread just also seem to forget that is a huge difference in performing in a casual environment or a heavy pressure environment. Nevertheless I have seen some mediocre gaming performances in the last 3 episodes. It's simple: some of you guys seem to be good allround gamers and some just seem to be good at a single type of game. It's that easy I think ;-).
Greetz
P.S.: if you win the show, will you get a Mercedes 190 Evo 1 or 2? ;-) Ppl. who love the good old 190 just cannot be bad people. I will cheer for you!

I am positive she didn't hook up with anyone, she is a big flirt but doesn't just hook up with someone- no matter how big they think they are. Frankly, I was shocked at how much the girl gamers do hook up with the guy gamers at these European events, you should have seen the next week at ESWC Tournament at the bar. They paired off like they were being lead to Noah's arc! You might see it a bit at console tournaments a few times in the US, but the Europeans at the PC tournaments is a crazy hook up fest, or at least it was at that one. I think it also stems from how female gamers are viewed across the pond vs. over here, console market really is so much different and of course just the culture difference and views on sex.
I'm not saying that they can't go get themselves some, more power to them. It's just viewed a bit differently here. =P

More like, fake boobs, playing games all day at the age of 25 and no decent education. I think the example she is setting is terrible because at the age of 45 all women like her are set aside and lead empty lives. Im sure she is fun to be around, I just don't like shallow people on television, ever.

just look at the olympics, its like 24/7 sex between athletes, in beijing the olympic organizers supplied 100,000 condoms to the athletes village.
