Just to clarify: I don't think 500dpi is far too low for 1920x1080, i actually use 630 and would consider less, is just that you have to be really careful with posture and how you grip/use the mouse in order to benefit from lower DPI on an interface like this i think

Well, i actually dont really care. There are other people atm i'm working towards skillwise.
Everyone, regardless of whether they know it or not, aim for Cookiezi in terms of skill. He was, and arguably, still is, the best all around player sans FL which imo is a bullshit mod to begin with. Nobody really ever came close besides maybe Niko, ReimuSS in his prime, rrytui, Karuta (only in HDHR), and SiLviA; even then, it was crapshoot half the time. Beating Cookiezi on the scoreboard back in the day wasn't even a thrill, because you knew it was only a matter of time before he came back and smashed you on his way back to #1 (speaking from experience). That's how strong he was, and I think its a shame that newer players won't ever get to see the sheer amount of skill he exhibited at all levels of play.
in my day the #1 spot was hotly contested, it was pretty fun to see which of the players in the top 10 would hold onto it for a day
then white wolf suddenly got way better than the others in the top 10 and held onto it for a while until cookiezi came along and wrecked everybody and people thought he was a hacker
i guess maybe with no cookiezi then the #1 spot might be more contested now, who nose

I'd rather aim for reachable players in shorter time. My point was more from a motivational point of view. Maybe you are of such a skilllevel that you could use those scores motivationally, but i am not. I will catch up, redefine my target and catch up again, slowly improving every aspect of play. That's how I improve. Cookiezi will probably never come within range. (maybe in an indirect way, i target x, who targets y, ....., who targets cookiezi, but that's too roundabout for me to count motivationally)

You're right in that 500 isn't way to low, I actually realized the other day my windows slider was at 5/11 and not 6/11 (it looked in the middle so I just assumed) so the effective DPI was 330 (400 base x1.0 drivers x0.75 windows x1.1 osu!) not 500, which is absurdly low. This also may have attributed to my drift issues. I have since corrected the issue and have been playing between 500 and 600 (1800 base x0.275-0.35 Driver x1.0 Windows x1.0 osu!) depending on how I feel. The Razer driver was initially giving me issues but I seem to have solved it. I still get drift issues now and then but I have no real problem holding 400x Combo without lifting when it was closer to 150 before, I think it's mostly a focus issue at this point. There are maps that felt toally out of my reach that I can clear no problem now.
Huehue, got the comment i was good for my rank today. It's been a while since that happened^^ Although rank doesnt mean a lot, to surprise people is always a good sign.
Want to point out though: Your screen resolution is lower than ours, at 1000dpi you have a sens of 1.44 inches to cross screen on X axis, mine is 3.048 inches and red_hq's was formerly ~5.82 inches and now a bit over 3

yep, i know
I've played around with lower dpi, but it just doesn't work. I want to be able to cross the screen in one movement with one part of the hand (when you look at the palm the left bottom side) touching the desk. Considering the smallness of my hand, this movement speed is perfect for me.

I just hold wrist differently, different style of movement. Even a 20% change in sens requires quite different usage of hand/wrist and if it's low, lower and upper arm positions (as well as low, med and high sens resting wrist/hand/arm differently on desk for control) so of course a +100% change in sens is very very different, it's really questionable what's better IMO. Using ~3.05 inches to cross screen atm, i think i'll maintain that you can't go wrong with 1:1, 2 inches to cross screen (1280dpi on 2560 width, 960dpi on 1920 width, 720dpi on 1440 width, 640dpi on 1280 width)
My left-right is extremely good i think, i can hit the left-right cross screens on story of my wife double time - it's just the other stuff catching me out and a few angles and inconsistencies making me consider going up 90 or 180dpi (8/7'ths, or 9/7'ths sens)
Approx 0:25-0:38
Quite proud to be able to do that with mouse with any level of proficiency. I'm not sure if i can improve much further than that, but directly left to right and right to left is one of many things to work on for good control especially at lower sens

@_@ wow. I have a hard time keeping up with that with the relax mod, how do you even suggest training to get to that level?
Edit: Oh, I can't even read that map, on autopilot I get worse than on relax.

Autopilot is kinda bugged. Because the cursor moves at a linear speed between notes. (as opposed to a start-stop motion) The actual timing window can be really small.

Yeah, after a certain point it becomes VERY hard to hit notes with that mod. I've had runs where I hit more notes with nofail on something than autopilot.
Oh, and if anyone here actually plays mania (and I haven't already made you DL my maps) I've got 2 new mania maps uploaded:
Tatsh feat. ENA - Flash -2nd Desire- - This started as me messing with speed changes. Since then it's grown into a full map. The ending gets really hard, but only for a short period. The patterns here require good finger independence, so it's a good way to train that.
Tama - Sonna Yume wo Mita no ~ lonely dreaming girl - This one has some mildly complicated holds throughout the song. It's not mapped to the end of the song.... but the song has a "fake ending" partway through and that's where I've mapped to so far. I like this one more than the other one, but there are parts of both maps I really like.
It has been a while since I posted here. I played on and off, but I started playing again a lot. As always, streams are the worse and ar8 seems to be the limit for now. I can somewhat manage ar9, but I die too quickly. I began to play easier maps with HD a few minutes ago as of this post. Somewhat bored of banging my head against ar9.
Fine here. I've been switching to tablet and back again. Huge improvements ever since on all aspects of the game. So im quite happy the way things are going.
I'll check if you're online some time to come and take a look
I even got fraps working and put something on youtube, which i will now advertise shamelessly:

How are you guys doing?
I think it's mainly cause ar9 songs are categorically harder than ar8. Like I browsed through my ar9 songs and there were virtually no songs I would call easy. Anyways, try starting with some easier ar9's:

Hm, i would indeed say ar is correlated with difficulty, but that's not all there is too it. It's also getting used to a certain ar. While some people are used to ar 8, and think that ar 9 is very fast, some people are used to ar10+ so much that they claim that ar9 is unplayable or hard to play, because of the low ar. There also are songs that are hard partly (or mostly) because of the ar.* I personally think problems with ar boil down to 2 things: either handling more circles then you're used to when playing lower ar or, when playing higher ar, having less time then you're used to to react to coming patterns. Both just need practice. I get the idea that most people neglect low ar, like most people dont practice slow streams: it's boring and frustrating at times.
*These come to mind: https://osu.ppy.sh/s/21342 Not very hard, but ar 9 would be easier imo https://osu.ppy.sh/s/16349 I only play the lesjuh diff, but that one needs some ridiculous control to get high combo, because of 220 bpm combined with ar 8. Also, before i played anything ar10 i was relatively better at the song then now.. https://osu.ppy.sh/s/10406 This would be hard even without low ar, but you have to hold back your aim/rythm greatly at times.
Hey guys, just started playing! Im KTFlaSh96 on osu.
anyone know the best way to get better at the spinners? im like, probably the worst player ever at spinners (using mouse and keyboard) with like an average of 175 lol.
