Few minutes later (after getting distracted by a cloaky CNR on the gate but we gave up on it) we warped into their site but they had just finished it and had warped off. Fortunately they had warped to the gate my scout was on so warped to them at 20 to try and start shit. We shoot a few times, they jump. We move links + scout into the next system and we do a nice old fashion jump + nano/burn to sun through them. Kwark reps me for a single cycle to keep myself topped off and GCC's himself because I'm a pirate, which we had forgotten about. This means he's the only one tanking gateguns now and he has to warp off. They give up chase and burn back to the gate. We burn back to about 30-40km and continue shooting at a few targets. First cane we get to armor jumps. We start shooting at the second cane who hits armor...structure...pops. I'm pretty sure he wasn't agressed but wtv. Kwark warps back staying out of gategun range, so he can burn in and out to rep us as needed. Suddenly they make a wild dash for us with 2 drakes and a couple canes. We lead them about 40km off the gate then I pile my neuts on the drake, completely wiping out its cap and setting it dead in the water. As the rest of his friends burn back to gate to watch, the drake is forced to try to slowboat 40km. Obviously, he dies. Don't know what the drake was expecting tbh. Sadly we didn't have as good pilots and he managed to get away at 11% structure but it was a good fight none the less. Small galaxy. | ||

and as for fcing 100+ man fights, that just sounds like a masterclass in multitasking. imagine the job of pl's fcs (or any other fcs, though they dont do as good a job), you have to manage your fleet, (super)caps on standby, know how many of the hostile alliances there will be and what they'll all be flying, where all of them are currently and what they're doing, while listening to god knows how many scouts and spies. quite a fun sounding challenge, and unlike a small gang where you only care about whats 2 jumps away. grunts may only get to f1 occasionally (though pl usually does a bit more engaging fleet types), but the fc is playing a whole different game, and as the best bit, its not even in EvE. | ||

I think in larger fleets there are many people doing the job of what one person would do in a smaller fleet. From the PL vids I've seen, there is a main FC (Shadoo, Elise, etc.) who probably does alignment stuff and gives fleet commands. But there are also people who call targets, people who broadcast targets, people who run logis, etc. I know in Mumble you can have subchannels so that logis can talk to each other without talking to the whole fleet. | ||
