as we though, rack of neuts, multiple points, bait domi, cynos in an archon We go for both points, call in for backup in intel channels, not much people answering since a lot of afk, archon enters triage. I get a phoon with a full rack of heavy neuts, land on field and start neuting the archon, big pirate fleet of armor bs/absos (yarr) lands in and kill me. We proceed to convo them and apparently theyre not with the archon and theyre not able to break it so they need our help. We fleet, start shooting it but not enough reps to break anything, so we try to get a second neut boat in, by that time still not anymore help from intel channels (its been like 30 mins), and 3 BS of SPAM land. Now, we know that yarr and spam are allies often, so we dont know whats going on. SPAM starts shooting us, and apparently they are with the archon. Everyone bails, massive clusterfuck of fail, im writing that and im still not too sure what happened. Was pretty funny. | ||

So I went on the field with a scanner about the same time as the neut phoon came into play. We're discussing on TS various admin stuff, getting intel out on the channels, deciding a course of action etc. when a Yarr fleet jumps into the belt and goes straight for our neut phoon (and killed a TEXN in our fleet as well). From our perspective then, it seemed like Yarr was protecting the Archon. However, after the fact I've gotta ask what the fuck they thought they were doing? It's not impossible that they were just on a roam and happened to d-scan down a carrier. However, if that's not the case, they could have only gotten the intel through the messages we sent out on the intel channel (they don't have to be directly in the channels, just hear it from others). A bunch of Hatchery guys saying "carrier in Oddel" and they jump in and kill our neut phoon straight off. Seriously, wtf? Anyway, after they realized they couldn't kill the carrier on their own, they wanted our help. We went in with the same fleet -1 neut phoon and started banging away. After a while, SPAM ships came in, and (like Cael said) we assumed they were with us since they often fly with yarr and they have a member in our corp. Nope. They are there to save the Archon. After the battle was over, we had a SPAM guy talk with us directly. He said they TOLD yarr that they were coming and to back off or get killed. Once again, I have to ask wtf was yarr doing? Nothing like "hey a bunch of ships are coming to kill us, be ready" in fleet chat or anything like that. If they wanted to fight, they should say something so that we wouldn't bug out. If they wanted to run, they should say something so that we DO bug out. Either I'm missing something or that was an absolutely stellar fuckup all around. | ||

Today's incident pretty much reaffirms that we shouldn't try to predict these guys or assume which side they're on. I wonder how things would have turned out if Karah was online and actually telling us what's going on. | ||

The cause of that big mess was mostly the fact that 1. we dont know how the fuck to fight carriers 2. we dont have ships to kill carriers 3. our comms cant be joined by anyone else. Anyways, having a carrier hotdropped on us in space is always funny. | ||
