Anyway, I get bored, and I notice a hulk with 2 full jetcans sitting next to him, while his orca sits on station boosting him, instead of acting as a big jetcan . I almost flip him with my linkloki, but then I realize how embarrassing it would be to lose a linkloki to a bait hulk. So I warp my oracle to him, put his ore into my can. He immediately warps off to station, and I warp there, planning to log off for the night. He docks and undocks in a maelstrom, and launches a flight of berserker 2s at me. I burn away and kill them, and then realize his mael has dual 425s, which means it is terribly fit. I start scorching it, and in half shields, he warps off (since I have no point). But aha, he warped to another station! I followed him, and my highsecgriefingcorpmate is frantically trying to find shield reps to put on his cane so the maelstrom doesnt murder my poor oracle. He lands on the station, I shoot him again, and he warps again, to a gate 50 au away. Surely by the time he lands he will be deagressed and can just jump. We land, I shoot him again, and instead of jumping, he shoots me while aligning out. He warps back to the belt he was first at, and I follow. During the next 10 minutes I follow him all around, using up 500 nanite repping my guns, and failing miserably at bump tackling him more than once every other landing or so. I ended up using 500 nanite and having between 86 and 96% burn on my guns Finally, we land on station, and I despair, since he hasnt shot me for quite some time. Surely he will just dock? He doesnt, and finally he explodes. Lose billion isk maelstrom over 4 million worth of some highsec ore. gg http://teamliquid.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=14527853 What I think happened is he had his default "warp to" button set to warp him at 15 or 20km (he kept landing about 15km off me, when I had warped to 0) and in his panic at being melted by a thousand dps oracle, didnt realize how to fix it. | ||

With diminishing returns, isn't the difference between tech I and II rigs something like 7% in shield strength but like 1000x in cost? (I know that's not always a totally disqualifying factor, but it seems like a lot of people generally go with "never use tech II rigs." In this case it seems to have been 3/4 of the value of his ship.) Edit: Also, armor plates on a ship that seems to be set up for passive shield tanking? This looks like a fit I'd come up with, so my spidey sense is tingling. | ||
