They probably gave similar high ratings to D:I, so there ratings are worth absolutely nothing.
D:I is a 59 on metacritic. That is awful, a shit tier rating
D4 is an 88, which is very good. only a handful of games get 90+
any game that is 88 in a genre you like is worth playing
What’s funny about that haterade post is that it’s extremely easy to check what Diablo Immoral’s ratings were. Lowest of low efforts lol

We are comparing apple and oranges here. You are talking current ratings from metacritic (PC) for D:I, not pre-release, first day ratings for another plattform. D:I had very high "official reviewer" ratings very early on. The negative ones only came in later to balance things out. D:I was like 80+ critics or but 0.5 by players for the first few days on mobile meta critic. And yes, you can check that farvacola, thank you very much.
Blizz is going to nerf said items that enable that kind of dmg into the ground
The user even says he has to skip regular and elite mobs because he keeps dying, and he has to hide behind pillars to avoid being one shotted by said bosses which he can barely kill.

Diablo 3 also has an 88 on metacritic and a lot of people didn't like that, so we'll see how it goes.
I don't trust reviewers on blizzard games.
true, that is a better comparison. i think now though, aside from the kinds of reviews you see on metacritic, there are so many high level streamers/youtubers who got early access and their reactions have also been generally positive from what i've seen. i dont think we had that with d3?
feels like it's gonna be a decent launch. how the game is season after season after season will be an entirely different hurdle
Based on the beta, D4 looked to be a fine game, fun enough but nothing special. For me, not worth 90 CAD for a game that I will probably just play the campaign a handful of times over the course of a few years. If it were on steam, I'd buy it for 20$ in like 5 years, as it is, probably won't get it.

Eh. regardless of Blizzard, i think publications are going to give bad reviews for any ARPGs or Diablo-likes.
They're basing it off the campaign where if you're a hardcore ARPG, you care about balance, end game, builds, player creativity that they are probably not going to be considering. Maybe its changed a bit more since we have way more ARPGs on the market than 2012.

i dont rly care about the seasons tbh, i just wanna play the campaign, reach max level, and maybe do that with a few classes. seasons, in concept, are stupid.
The retail version will essentially be the Server Slam version of the game + some bug fixes. This might help some people make a choice for their first character, or at the very least kill any hope for a major rebalance on launch day.

I have something like a general quota of 1 buck / 1 hour of FUN gameplay (means grind doesn't count) which for me personally means it's probably worth to pay 70 bucks at release. But I'm still waiting for all reviews and will start playing in a week or two

Sorc it is then rofl
I still haven't decided between Sorc, Necro, and Druid; I have about a day to figure it out lol
This was my perspective on the classes, after playing them up to around level 20:
Personal Diablo 4 Class Rankings (Before Release): Necromancer: 9/10 – Good mobility, great range, good skill variety, great minion synergy/usefulness, always strong Sorceress: 9/10 – Good mobility, great range, good skill variety, spells work well together, glass cannon, always strong Druid: 7/10 – Good mobility, great range, great skill variety, great defensive skills / replenish life, only decent vs. bosses Barbarian: 5/10 – Decent vs. mobs, no mobility/range, lack of skill variety, boring, useless vs. bosses / chaotic spells Rogue: Didn’t have time to play as Rogue, but looks pretty fun and useful, with a decently high skill ceiling
Diablo 4 Class Builds I Found Fun And Decent: Necromancer: Reap (None) for melee + Hemorrhage (None) for ranged -> Sever (Supernatural) -> Blood Mist (None) + Skeletal Warrior Mastery -> Decrepify (Horrid) >>> the 4 purple/darkness/shadow nodes Sorceress: Frost Bolt (Flickering) -> Frozen Orb (Greater) -> Flame Shield (Shimmering) -> Hydra (Summoned) Druid: Storm Strike (Fierce) for melee + Earth Spike (Wild) for ranged -> Lightning Storm (Raging) -> Blood Howl (Innate) + Debilitating Roar (Innate) -> Wolves (Ferocious) Barbarian: Bash (Battle) -> Upheaval (Violent) -> Ground Stomp (Tactical) -> War Cry (Mighty) Rogue: N/A

I aim for roughly an average of 1 buck / 3 hours of gameplay (including grinding cause it can be fun with some games). Whenever I have games like Diablo/Civ/Total War that easily beat that, I'm more willing to pick up games on the shorter side like visual novels and shorter rpgs.
So I think some streamers have access to endgame already. Some people I know are more into watching those videos and I heard that barb and druid are generally considered the best at endgame. They acknowledge the start can be a little rough though, which we've all seen. I've always planned to play sorc first. Still undecided which melee char I want for my 2nd char. I was leaning towards barb at first but I'm thinking druid right now.
Right, at least one who had barb as top tier endgame said that it's based on whirlwind being OP (same as D2). Druid is probably the more well rounded character. Then again, whirlwind being OP is iconic for the franchise. It was THE D2 barb skill. D3's whirlwind is forgettable.
Meh, ultimate timers are still so long. They could probably cut them in half and people would still find it difficult to justify loosing a slot for a skill that's on cd for most of the playthrough.
In ARPGs 10 second cd is long, idk how they got the idea that 60 is alright. In d3 rain of vengeance at 30 was barely tolerable, I thought they'd reduce these timers to reasonable levels in early patches, but so far no luck.
I also don't get that they're nerfing elixirs, kinda seemed like a bother to deal with them anyways. The bonus xp is nice, but you have to be statted like crazy for +10% dodge or +6% crit to matter.
this is the first gameplay vid ive seen since beta gameplay and i have to say what the fuck is this shit? that gameplay is literally d3 greater rifts with new environments and aesthetic changes. d4 may as well be a new d3 expansion or a d3 remaster than a completely new game by the looks of this video.
