But also keep in mind that's what it's supposed to look like after WEEKS of farming, literally endgame progression at the end of a league. WW barb will be good for packs and map clears, but can maybe struggle with elites & bosses. I think most people will quit before ever getting to see that high level of content (character level 100, torment difficulty, level 100 dungeon with modifiers etc.) I think what makes people literally vomit in their mouths (me too, btw) from seeing that footage is: 1) Damage numbers popping up like crazy, and they're not even scientifically noted (K for every 1000, M for millions, B for billions). Either make them pop up on only really big, crazy crits, or shorten them... 2) The constant flashing of mobs that are getting mowed down... although I am not epileptic, this did annoy me by the end. 3) Random death of the player (literally getting 1-shot by deathrattles like explosion on death, or leaving behind pools of poison that completely take you out of the fight/fun of it.) Even PoE has this and pros like Zizzarian and Mathil have REPEATEDLY vented about these mechanics being absolute ass. 4) (Probably) unpolished & unbalanced endgame. The enemies seem like damage sponges again with absurd HP, uninteresting mechanics and the barb might only have 1 valid, endgame build which is WW barb, which looks hella boring. Biggest problems I have with the game currently are: 1) only 4 skills on the skill bar (excluding left&right click) and no dedicated ultimate button if they keep the tiny skill bar. 2) cooldowns seem absurd early and the generator skills are worthless (both damage-wise and generation-wise). Every theorycrafter I've watched seems to suggest stacking CDR% on spenders later on

But I would first ask if the person is randomly dying because they are a glass cannon build that forsakes a bunch of defence or is even the most tanky of builds going to randomly fall over (which is, sadly, the case in PoE) Yeah, the number of BS 1-shots, combined with servers being both distant and meh, made PoE just not worth it for me once I got to the more endgame stuff and map-grinding. Enemies should be dangerous, but the danger needs to be less `spiked' than it was in PathOfExile.

Is there a decent chunky challenge to be had for a run playthroughs of various classes? I find with ARPGs I’m caught between two stools, it feels a bit of a cakewalk to just play through the story and whatnot, but I’m not super interested in optimising and end game like many fans of the genre are

Every theorycrafter I've watched seems to suggest stacking CDR% on spenders later on Pretty much how I feel, and this kind of gameplay footage from end game is what I wanted to see before deciding to buy game or not. I'm still undecided, I don't like what I'm seeing a lot in terms of gameplay, I really don't like the huge damage numbers and the sound of random 1shot damage spikes sounds like the opposite of fun and deep gameplay especially for hardcore. It's much more interesting when there is depth to the fights and things are played out over a number of different blows trying to get away and fight it off. There are 6 skills on the bar but it looks like the barb is just WWing around activating some mods at cooldown intervals, it's a bit too simple, doesn't look very fun. Sure some builds in D2 are overly simplistic and rely on spamming a skill or a few but there's other things to be done that work well using up to 16skills and well, I expect better from a sequel frankly.

Offense for PCs always scale better than defense. And when mobs scale on both, they end up one-shotting players eventually. There's also the added issue that some classes scale terribly on defense, so some classes always end up as glass cannons even if they can take a few hits in the early game. Every endgame tier list I've seen is already predicting that whirlwind is going to get nerfed. I don't know what else barb has going for them, which makes me lean towards druid as my first melee char. Druid feels like it has more options. The devs have stated they want D4's combat to be closer to the speed of earlier games, so we'll see if they nerf accordingly.

But maybe Harris1st wasn't talking about the WW gameplay but more about all the numbers on the screen, the graphics etc. If only people communicated more clearly what they mean ![]()

I played all beta on WT2 and some fights were actually engaging. This video from the WW Barb just shows the same ol' same ol' huge numbers, bullet sponge, fastest clear speed kind a game that I don't enjoy EDIT: It's not even about the grind I played enough MMO's where grinding was part of the game but could still be engaging (grouping a bunch of enemies, then CC then delete) You don't need to play necessarily smart/ concentrated at all times, but you still needed to pay enough attention what to click when and where

Do I have to work a bit for it and employ varied tactics occasionally, or when you know what you’re doing build wise and get good gear do you just nuke everything? It’s a tricky balance to find, and from what I’ve read general gamers (well, me anyway) and real ARPG big fans aren’t really looking for the same experience so that makes it trickier still.
