Friendly fire is very much a thing though, but if you are fighting on a hill with the enemy being uphill you often are able to shoot over your units. After the initial firing on the enemy while he advances, just pull your handgunners back and wait until the engagement happens, then move your handgunners to the flank and shoot him in the side/back. Shooting an enemy unit that is engaged in the back will also occasionally result in some friendly fire to the unit engaging them from the front, but it is totally unneglectable in comparison to the damage to health and moral that your enemy will suffer. You can also do some more advanced stuff like retreating individual units in a way that the chasing troop ends up in a setup crossfire. Archers deal friendly fire aswell but since they fire in an arc it happens much less. Thank you, lots of useful info. What if i'm fighting downhill? Does distance between my melee stack and my handgunners change the equation?

Now it is DLC, why is it entitlement to complain about a standard feature being moved to a payed one? I personally don't care much and thought it was a bigger deal when they released the exact same DLC for Rome 2 while the game was in a barely working state. Atleast Warhammer works this time.

Handgunners pretty much fire in a straight line towards the target, if you are fighting on a hill with the enemy being uphill, you should get better results by having your handgunners further away from your units since it will increase the angle of their line of fire. Letting the enemy have the uphill and therefore having a statbuf over you and the better charge can still be beneficial with this method. Melee also deals friendly fire, depending on the unit. For example, if your giant is fighting a lord/hero you might not want to engage with additional units depending on how the fight is going as they will swarm the single lord/hero and therefore the giant will deal a good portion of damage to your surrounding units every time he swings at the enemy lord/hero. I believe this applies to every unit that has a melee area of effect. In most cases it will be fine though, just don't put valuable units with low hp and small model sizes in melee against the same unit an AOE-unit is engaging unless you really need to. This doesn’t apply for artillery of course, especially canons/steamtanks. Their shots tend to bounce of the ground and will devastate your unit as well. You can abuse this bounce with attack ground though to fire on targets above maximum range or to cause even more damage.

I really hope that they come soon. I'm not sure how to count it. Is BftBG DLC 1 or were WoC DLC 1? That 2v2 was a blast to play, haha. It was crazy how I had to dodge the enemy general with mine, then try to go in for a hit before he flew off. Though, nice to see that Teamliquid has at least some interest in the MP of TW. Total War's multiplayer has always been #1 in my heart, and it's what allowed me to discover StarCraft 2 in 2011 (and I still play SC2 to this day, only diamond though sadly, but I really want master lol).

The problem with team games is the potential lag and I believe the maps don't scale for team games (previously, in Shogun 2, the more players were in a game, the bigger the map would get, but that doesn't happen since then I believe, could be wrong though). Anyway, lag is the biggest issue. And player pool isn't big either.

I've reinstalled the game and stuff but no dice. Not worried about losing it, just curious. Was thinking maybe a mod issue but then would have thought that would screw up all my games.

I damn near bankrupted myself building one doomstack with tanks and demigryphs (and one mortar because the game won't let me attack fortified settlements without sieging with just tanks), and then lashed out at the various Vanpire factions to get some quick cash from sacking settlements. I then pushed hard west into Mousillion and took most of the Bretonnian provinces from them. Then the Chaos and norscan factions arrived at my doorstep, so I decided to make peace with everyone and just hunker down until Chaos was defeated. I basically was on my own with the defense. The Dwarves were busy with the Greenskins, and the Vampire factions couldn't be bothered to do anything useful to help. The first doom wave damn near broke me when 3 Skaeling and 4 Chaos stacks showed up at the same time. I only had three stacks, one of which (my weaker stack) was crushed. Grunsberg was razed as was L'Arguile. The second doom wave was even worse. Another 3 Skaeling stacks went for Marienburg while 6 Chaos stacks pushed Altdorf. This time, I was better situated for the defense. I had Franz with tank/demigryph doomstack and my weaker stack at Altdorf, and my second demigryph/tank doomstack was at Marienburg. The second stack crushed two full Skaeling stacks sieging Marienburg on one turn, and my other two stacks broke three Chaos stacks that attacked Altdorf on Chaos's turn. On my text turn, I was able to collapse with all of my forces on five Chaos stacks north of Altdorf and destroy them in detail. It's now about turn 180. I'm not sure whether another Chaos doom wave is coming, but I think that I'm in really good shape to start pushing out and wiping out the Vampire factions. Honestly, the hardest part about playing Empire is having to constantly soak waves of Skaeling stacks at Marienburg. I think the devs need to retool them a bit. It also doesn't help that you're forced into building super-expensive stacks to be competitive against Chaos.

And it gives you a campaign with events, opening scene and quest battles? I mean yes, day 1 dlc around a race that's in the game anyways. Prolly gonna happen for Bretonia as well and at least chaos should be part of the game anyways as a major faction. But content and price wise I can't really moan. And I can't really moan for blood covered skins of units for 2,50€ either.

Beastmen and Wood Elves are pretty much what I was hoping for from the beginning since they would be the easiest to put on the current map. ![]() TK should add lands to the south. CD and OK to the east (without Kathay). EXP1 everything to the west.

The gory expansion is a couple of euros now.
