Guy above me answered it good enough, but if you're also wondering why it exists in the first place: Earlier in cs:go people tended to queue up in groups of 4, and kick the last player "for lulz" right before the game ended, depriving him of the victory.

Funny unrelated anecdote. First round. Everyone says hi. Then... "russkii?" "russkii?". One other guy perks up they they start conversing, then arguing with each other over something in Russian. This irritated Swedish guy say "English only please". Silence. Then the Russian guys continues in Russian then says "hahaha I am only joking guys, I can speak English" in an American accent and the game proceeds as normal. What just happened here?

It seems like the kind of thing someone did once and everyone else copied for no reason. I remember back in the day at LAN parties desk space was limited so some people angled their shit. But now all these 17 year olds are doing this and it makes no sense. It's not comfortable at all. Olof is literally playing at a 90 degree angle.

Olof is literally playing at a 90 degree angle. Space is one reason. You can't always know that you'll be playing on huge desks. And remember, these guys have been playing for-absolutely-ever. So they continue doing what they started out with. Also, equally important, it means you can have a bigger mouse mat and incidentally a bigger area to use it on. Considering the ridiculous low sensitivity some of these guys play on to get that pixel perfect shot, having a big space for your mouse is required if you want to actually look around quickly. And it's not uncomfortable at all. You only need access to 9 buttons to play csgo after all. There's no rule that states that "w" has to be the most upward button. I remember back in the day some quake pros used to have all the movement buttons in a line, like "fghj".

On the other hand playing with it completely straight feels somewhat bad. I dunno, maybe a case of getting used to it but dunu.

But when you're sitting at a desk normally, your arms are like this | | If your keyboard is at a 90 degree angle then don't you have to play with one wrist straight and one at a 90 degree angle? I find that extremely uncomfortable :/ I mean, my desk is not HUGE and i play with 1.5 sensitivity at 800 dpi and still i have more than enough space.

Well, i think i have my right hand in somewhat of an angle as well. My keyboard is maybe in a 70 degree angle i dunno. It just feels somewhat more comfortable.

Your arms aren't necessarily straight on the desk. If I just look at mine right now when I use a keyboard, they both are slightly angled inwards, i.e. / \, and when I play, my keyboard is slightly angled. But all in all, it pretty much depends of the habits people got when they started playing. I remember a friend of mine from Starcraft that used to play in such a weird way, where his right arm was doing a 90° and was holding the mouse just in front of the keyboard, with his bust leaning quite a lot forward. And yeah, just because it may not be comfortable for you doesn't mean it won't be for everyone. Now I can see why some people would actually play like that "just because they've seen some pros doing it", and why this is kinda funny.

Most of the anlging is because people need support on desks thats dont necessarily cover the entire arm. If you want to get closer to the screen (and normally desk space is limited) you end up moving everything in which means you HAVE to turn the keyboard at an angle to have your arm properly extended regardless of big your desk is. Ofcourse having a big desk is nicer but if you setup incorreclty you will develop a terrible posture also. So its not just about limited desk space. Personally I have about a 45-60 incline when playing.

I mean if you visualise it unless you have atleast partial support on the arm you are going to start hurting within hours (or in my old ass case 10 mins). Its instant recipe for wrist problems. And these guys spend hours playing.

https://www.razerzone.com/gaming-keyboards-keypads/razer-orbweaver-chroma Seems like that takes way less desk space and you could push it as far back as you want to rest your arm.
