Please be advised:
We will be closing this General thread in 24 hours. It will remain searchable.
After that we will require new threads to discuss topics.
Questions should go in the stickied Q&A thread, screenshots and PotG will go in the PotG sticky, QQ/Rage/Complaints should go in the QQ/Rage thread. If you want to talk about maps or strategies open a new thread.
Any comments or concerns will be logged please forward them to ZeromuS. This new forum is still fluid so we will try this out. General TL rules will still apply to new threads. |

The only reason I bring it up now is because I want to address the culture of gen threads in our subforums in general and the longer it lives the harder it is to kill.

In general news, I can confirm that playing with 5 friends makes this shit a hell of lot more interesting.

Same issue here.
And when I try to visit this thread via my subscribed threads on liquiddota I get a "404 not found".

Agreed, I actually dont enjoy playing the game much solo, because it is SUCH a team oriented game. Like individual skill is nothing compared to cooperation and coordinated attacks/ultimates.
I love the game when i have 2-3 friends on, but wont be spending much time playing it solo.
I would rather play League of Legends solo than this... i feel like this game cooperation is just infinitely stronger than team that doesnt communicate.

Tanking with no healing for idiots who enjoy repeatedly becoming bastion's gatling fodder, then said idiots telling me off "they don't need no tank". We lost in less than a minute gee I wonder why

Well, I can confirm game is WAY more enjoyable when you get a team that knows what they're doing. I might actually buy the game now if I can get some friends in on this.

the amount i rage is worse than it was in league, i might have to skip this game lol

It goes in every direction at random and it's fine. If you want to organize the conversation into threads instead of having this anarchic but not unpleasant flow, make threads and the general convo will naturally flow to the more targeted topics, leaving a slower general thread for random comments and thoughts. It may be alright to have a slower gen thread, I just wonder how to encourage people to actually push conversations into community driven OPs instead of just a slowly growing gen thread? I do see the point to wanting somewhere to collect random comments and thoughts though, so thats a good point zapz
Not sure about the "how". The CS:GO general thread has a sticky that encourage people to create threads about standalone discussion, but it's been pretty stale for some time now. Usually there's a rotation of threads (the QQ one, the Ranking Up and Down, the Q&A, the general thread) and the LR threads. Sometimes a few extra threads pop up but it's rare. As Djzapz said, the general thread is just random comments that wouldn't warrant a thread, so I also think that keeping the general isn't bad, as long as the real discussions don't really happen there, more like a sort of lounge thread.
Depends on how many people interact in the subforum as well.
EDIT: Oh, I forgot also, the first post of general has been reworked and it points out to different threads now. Might help. :3

I really like this game until I play against some smart placement of turrets and trap filled rooms. Its so frustrating

I think the AFK-kicking-timer has some real issues. It's not only ridiculously low (i'm even afraid to scratch my nose during a match, because i fear getting kicked for AFKing), i also encountered a couple of guys staying AFK in spawn for the whole match without anything happening.
Leaver Penalty is also way over the top for a casual game mode.

Its so frustrating Cracking reasonably competently setup defense is a brutal task when you're solo-queuing -- particularly when you have a Widowmaker and Hanzo on your team. But even assuming that you have a well-composed team, the level of coordination required to bust a defense is beyond the capacity of your average pub comp. I usually play Genji on offense, and I spend a lot of time harassing the enemy flanks, waiting for an opportunity to go all in with Dragonblade. What usually happens is that this opportunity never comes because my team is busy mindlessly running into the meatgrinder. And because I'm on the flank, I get a front row seat to the stupidity.

Breaking small rooms is actually super easy with winston.
Symettra nests in particular stand zero chance against winston's tesla cannon since it does aoe, and auto acquires targets and has high damage vs the low hp of her sentry turrets.
If symettra is camping the spot then dva is also very good since she can bost in, kill a few turrets or run past them to kill sym then boost out. Both together is even better. You'll never have to worry about rooms with traps ever again. Even torb turrets melt to this combo if the torb is holding a small space.
Dva and winston are both very very good against static defense.

I really like playing this game but playing solo is really frustrating some times if you are playing against an organized team. And hardly anyone uses their mics/matches are too short to build any rapport. Agh
Matchmaker too frequently puts me into matches that are ending in 30 seconds too.

Make a few friends and queue in groups of 2 or 3+ and it gets a lot better.
Pure solo is horrible because inevitably you will be replacing a ragequitter, and inevitably you will have no one to talk to. Even just one person talking with you in team chat helps a lot.

I'm so happy there's an Overwatch subforum now

Playing this solo with random people is the closest thing to torture/wasting your time you can actually get to, maybe aside from watching paint dry. This is worse than dota solo. Never have I felt so powerless when having retards on my team.
I have half a mind to demand a refund solely based on solo queue and how punishing it is. =/

I haven't played the competitive mode but I suspect that if you give it some time it'll become a bit like casual vs competitive in CS. Casual is a slugfest and it's dumb, competitive matchmaking is... well... mostly dumb, you can get a semblance of teamwork because it's people who minimally understand the general principles of the game, especially at higher ranks which you will reach naturally if you're decent.
