Yeah im going jew mode not going to lie, got level 3 inn on 2 of my 3 100s so i just get a free treasure hunter follower every week too 100 as i dont need more than 1-2 scavanger followers anymore as i have like 5+ on my 100s. So i too am making nice gold per day on my characters. Have 3 treasure hunters on 2 chars and 1 on the other.
But as someone said if you raid weekly there isn't much to spend gold out once you're midway through a tier. It costs me like 1000g a month in flasks and potions if that everything else in terms of repairs is done via guild so unless i really want to gear up an alt fast i have no other reason to spend gold during a raid tier.
Other than that you have gems/enchants when you upgrade gear and next raid tiers you have BOEs that drop that might be good upgrade for you. But they aren't that important BOEs unless they are in your BIS list which they rarely are now
So that's where I'm hoping that in a month's time of 3 garrisons churning out treasure hunting, I could actually buy the game time with gold. Because there is no real point to having gold now, unless you're stalking some priced item off the Black Market.
Yeah and like others say a weekly 5k from farming Cata HC Raids and putting a bit of effort into keeping a level 3 barn "active" you should be making 10k + a week from that, 30k on game time, 10k in the bank.

Exceeding 1k per day will eventually be the norm, but you'll need a full suite of Treasure Hunters including a few at 675 for missions like Green Fel. That'll take time and patience.
Realistically speaking it will be hard for people with just one garrison to keep it up unless they supplement their garrison income via the AH, Cataclysm 25s, or other means. However, with just 2-3 garrisons it'll be trivial to have enough for 30k WoW Tokens and still have gold for raids/PvP/whatever.

It's complicated.
First, it depends on what the buyer uses the gold for. If they blow it on the BMAH or other gold sinks then the purchased gold doesn't enter the market.
Second, it depends on the seller as well. If the gold is essentially savings then it may enter the market in the hands of the buyer (or not, see above). If it wasn't savings then it's simply changing hands, and may actually leave the market (again, see above).
How everything balances out depends on what buyers spend their gold on, and where seller gold comes from. I'm not sage enough to be able to answer that question.

It should be trivial with 3 garrisons. Just set each one up like so:
Level 3 Barracks
Level 3 War Mill
Level 3 Inn
Level 3 Salvage
(optional) Level 3 Trading Post
Recruit a Treasure Hunter every week, and use any excess Garrison Resources to buy trait rerolls (I keep 5000 on hand just in case). The MasterPlan addon or something similar is basically mandatory.
Then just run your missions twice or more daily. Try to save your gold missions for Treasure Hunters as much as possible, and try to keep your War Mills churning out follower upgrades (they're really important), and grab the daily whenever you can.

It doesn't really make gold. player A buys a token for real money and puts it on the AH, he gets X gold when it sells. Player B buys a token on the AH for X gold.
It doesn't make gold, but now that there's additional incentive to spend, the market's active gold supply necessarily increases and inflation sets in. This presumes a minimal level of gold exchange via the auction house though, which I suppose might not be the case on all servers.

It spiked from 30k to 31.2k and then went into free fall, now 27.5k and going down about a thousand gold an hour. We'll see where it is in a couple days, weeks and months (:
edit: 26k and falling ~400-750g an hour
Different regions are seperate economies though - and due to various forms of fuckery, i wouldn't be surprised to see one region paying 1.2 - 1.5x as much gold as the other
Ding 100 after ~120 hours playing since patch 6.1 :D
overall i'd say it was fun, but time to kill is WAY too low through the entire leveling process. Around level 45-59 it took longer, then i got chimaera shot and DPS increased by >2x instantly. At level 90 it suddenly slowed down again, but the very cheap i630 weapons (~150g-5k or so depending on the weapon) instantly fixes the problem.
I slowed down hugely when going from mobs 4 levels below me to Nagrand - but then i dinged 100, got lone wolf and at i600 (literally) i'm doing this again:
I'm completely ungeared. In first tier gear, my damage will increase by a factor of four. In third tier, probably by a factor of 15. This just isn't how the game played from patch 1.0 to 4.2, even if time to kill dropped in wrath a lot. Bring back mobs with actual hp that drop stuff that's actually needed for meaningful character progression and generates actual economy movement to allow for farming! :D
Also if anyone is interested, 90-100 generated about 14k gold without touching the auction house, almost entirely from quests, treasures and vendoring huge quantities of junk. Dungeon spam with actual good DPS seemed substantially faster than questing unless you are literally hitler and do every zone to 30% completion and then abandon all of your quests and leave. Having good weapon will speed up your dungeons by a bigger factor than it speeds up your quests, because you can go start to finish much faster and get those huge exp jumps when you kill the final boss

It might tick upwards a bit come the weekend, but otherwise I think 20-30k is where it's going to be.
Given that $20 for 30k gold was the going rate from gold sellers at launch it's not too surprising that it stayed around that value. A lot of the doomsayers weren't really considering how many of the factors they were worried about were already rolled into the existing market.
What wild speculation wasn't relating to the price was generally focused on AH inflation, so it'll be interesting to see if that becomes a factor at all.
Must admit im amazed the price is actually dropping. Well shouldn't complain I guess. I like it that other people are going to be paying for my subscription.

LOL wow xD Yeah this is getting stupid Blizzard said they would monitor the prices and change them if they were getting sold to quickly or not quick enough. This seems a massive bug in the system so i will also be buying myself some game time tonight via gold haha. 3 Months game time for 69k err yes please.

Blizzard is kinda happy with it tho. Every token sold makes them 5 bucks (15 or less for a month of sub and 20 for a token).
