For the upcoming finals, which strategy would you play, ie what gives Snow/Protoss the best chance to take the win on Roaring Currents? For me, it's still carrier, if possible with HTs or DAs added in the mix.

Feel free to elaborate.

Don't know Roaring Currents much...would be more interested to see what their overall gameplan is for the finals 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️

Protoss can definitely play standard vs. Terran, but it seems they are most effective (or maybe its just more fun to watch) when they keep the Terran off balance with a variety of builds/strategies...especially in a long series 💯💯

Roaring Currents is peculiar as it seems almost a certain win for Z.

I have too little time to watch to figure out what works reasonably well on this map, but I voted reaver simply because we're talking about Snow here and the rush distance is long.

I fear that reaver harass will end with burrow snipe and that will lead to a slow certain death

I think two gate zealot rushing is Sn0w's best shot of taking the set on Roaring Currents. Both Best and Bisu defeated Soma soundly using the two gate zealot rush, and zerg's macro game is way too strong on Roaring Currents, so it is best to win quickly. TBH, I think Sn0w should just two gate zealot rush every game, until Soma shows a strong response to the build.

Edit: Soma has been the villian of this ASL, his treacherous acts against Best and Bisu must be avenged. I respect Sn0w, if anybody could defeat Soma, using the exact same opener every set, it'd be Sn0w. Soma is weak to early pressure.

If Sn0w is somehow reading this, you must avenge Best and Bisu, as you've already avenged Mini.

I want to see Brood War history being made. The newest player on a tear, taken down by the oldest trick in the book...

If you're reading this, please Sn0w, listen to Frenzy Moon, from the Dynasty Warriors 7 OST to pump yourself up.

I also think that 2 gate opening is an option. The issue are the distances and the fact it is likely to be scouted. But yes, rather that than any standard game.

Corsair reaver, switch into goon production behind it, 2 base timing with reavers and rallying zealots to reinforce the army.

Trying to go late game on this map is a mistake.

Edit: there are plenty of maps to two gate but the rush distance here is insane

Yeah, longest rush distance in the pool, that might be why it could work though, I suspect Soma will try doing a very greedy opener, as he does. Maybe if you proxy one of the two gates, it could function.

I think carrier, simply because I don't know if ANYONE can out-efficiency SnOw when the chips are down, and carriers are so often about efficiency.

snOw will take 4 land bases, then timing push with fake air units and real Dragoon, Zealot, HT combo. If he is a smart player.

I doubt it. I think he'll simply get stuck on the bridge...

Sair/reaver into scout. Usually the battle is about air/island dominance, it makes no sense to get carriers. Scouts can snipe devourers much faster and trade vs. mass Zerg air. They can also attack ground in a pinch like in a drop scenario 11 scouts can clean up 8 hydras no sweat. Especially good combined with dweb.

Pure scout doesn't work because of ensnare. You need corsair to provide some splash.

The finals are today. Have fun everybody.
+ Show Spoiler +
I think Roaring Currents will not determine today's finals because Snow has a particular style of play that encompasses all his games in a late macro style. Soma knows this.
Roaring Currents, on the other hand, is a greed oriented map with scoutless mains and blocked crosspawn and nearspawn pathways leading to all games starting from bad farspawn scout delay ending up with opening advantage to both players. Therefore there is undue delay in an early game aggression openers unless we are facing an incredible 4-5 pool all-ins which will be impossible to hide, due to said map layout.
I think if Snow can look past current meta blindness of too early nexuses sacrificing early game defence, I think he can rapidly take ground control of the map since the map is a huge tower defence layout and he can easily choke out incoming zerg units. The question is if he can resist the urge to expand too early without a defence versus a 2 gate, or 1 gateway 2 stargate.
It can be tempting to play zerg with an expensive air opening, however that is how you lose games. I think Soma can sit back in similar Larva fashion and slowly build up his base count which Snow should do as well. In a base race protoss will have the upperhand - unless protoss does a late game air challenge like bisu. That is outside the window of opportunity for a base race.

What did I tell you guys? Old players are deprecated. Remember Snow had a higher chance versus Soulkey. From this day on it is between true, larva, rich, speed and of course soma.
