If not for the EU suffering from a mass failure of garrisons this launch was be decent. However Garrisons are utterly crucial to leveling. Every 2 levels you need to go there to pick up the quest for the next zone and without it you cant even unlock the chains. This design choice means that everything is now fucked. No garrisons means no quests means no content, Add in the gutting of dungeon xp and the only real viable alternative is no longer viable.
The US might be fine but the EU is having one of the worst expansion launches WoW has had and thats quite the achievement.

I only had been at TBC and Cataclysm. This is by far the worst in my opinion, but i could be wrong.
Hell, even AQ's event was more playable than this.

At least, that'd be my guess. The garrison issue was there on the beta aswell. More notably on the lowest population pvp realms. I'm not convinced this is a hardware issue, the lag in other zones sure is no, doubt about it but not the Garrisons.

Yeah the bottleneck just absolutely destroyed the entire launch. Everyone is stuck doing the same part, and it's only getting worse as we get to friday when a huge swell of new players will get off work and go online to play during the weekend. Everyone will be stuck in the same place and no one will get anywhere. Imo, the entire garrison part should have been instanced for soloplay, all the way up the point when you can head out to the other zones.

Managed to get 2 quests done on my alt (can't even get close to logging in on my mains servers) after my garrison loaded. Got myself back to garrison hoping it would get instanced while I was playing some Hearthstone:
tabbed back to this:

At the end of every zone you need to go back to your garrison to get the next zone quest because without it none of the quests will work.
other then that yes, the Garrison bottleneck has killed this launch.

Lol I'll have to take your word for it, I haven't even managed to get out of the mushroom cave yet. Outland is like a roller coaster of derp.
Honestly I wouldn't mind if the entire trip to 100 was instanced at this point. Questing is mostly a solo experience anyway.

And I thought SWTOR launch was terrible. Also, establishing fishing hut for horde is impossible, you need to kill 4 mobs, that happen to have 5 spawn points, long ass respawn timer and million players camping them...

Uh, if you take the Lumber Mill in Gorgrond, you get really fucked over. In beta I took the glad ring and it opened up 8-10 quest chains, the Lumber Mill opens up 4. You can't even level out of the zone if you pick it...someone didn't balance this at all.
On the Garrison issue, I logged in this morning and my garrison auto-completed, I didn't have to click shit. Guess they fixed it.

So I guess it's probably good that I decided not to come back just yet, lol. I'm now thinking maybe for the second raid tier.

I feel terrible for the EU folks. My NA experience so far has been smooth sailing... although the servers are low/medium pop. No queues and no garrison issues that I can tell, though they are doing an "[SERVER] instance reset" right now so that might not be totally true for everyone.
Edit: yeah I'm flying into my garrison (on accident) and a bunch of us are frozen on the flight path mid air, just bouncing on the griffon lol
Based on what folks are saying in general, people on High pop in US might be having the same issues
|
Well I guess the US can thank us for beta testing WoD like they do for raids usually for EU.
It's absurd though how some of these problems have been stated since beta long ago but nothing has been done.

Yeah that instance reset sent me into a 1k queue =/. Just what I wanted to do in the middle of killing Goc!

Just got thrown off server into a huge queue for like the 5'th time. I'm going to go sleep a bit - still going hard, but i have constant 3k ping right now and just got another 1.5 hour queue to get back in to server, i'm a masochist but it's just not playable through peak times right now.

Well, you'd probably end on the loading screen boss anyway and then either dc or character screen with a error twist.

Now my Garrison has like 10,000 dudes inside and there are no NPC's.
Great :D
