The first time i did that i was like WHY THE FUCK IS THAT GUY CCING ALREADY HE'S GOING TO ooooooooooh lol what a jokle I remember the exact moment I did that: first run of Heroic Grim Batol right after Cata launch. I flipped out when someone cc'd a trash mob while the healer was drinking, only to realize it didn't pull...

There really is not a whole lot of other ways to find a guild.

Your other option (and IMO the best) would be to reroll on an RP server. They actually still have mature and respectable communities and you could very easily find a guild on one (at least the US RP servers). Realm forums tend to have recruitment posts where he might find what he is looking for. I agree interaction with the forums is something most people want to keep to a minimum :p

I wasn't really in a guild during vanilla or the beginning of TBC; I pretty much PvPed all the time, so I had every other decent PvPer on the server on my friends list, plus most of the ones from the other faction on an alt account. We all used to sit in Teamspeak and give each other advice on where groups of players were to gank and whatnot. This still exists for PvP in both US and EU, since all of the tournament guys and multi-R1's who still play are such a small community that everyone has known each other for years. Contrary to popular opinion, which conflates game balance with skill-cap, it takes a long ass time to reach a high level in 3v3 arena (there are obvious exceptions -- seasons where balance was so lopsided that any random gladiator could have won an MLG playing with decent players...not taking shots at anyone in particular, just saying...). Therefore, the amount of new blood in the scene is also pretty non-existent, since there is no real incentive to grind out thousands of arena games if there is no money (reputable tournaments) behind it. Edit: seems like Holinka is trying to 'revitalize' PvP for WoD...but as long as the viewer client remains an unintelligible mess, there is no hope for PvP as an eSport.

You know, I wouldn't have a problem with it not being an e-sport if it were just more fun. CC is worse nowadays than it ever has been, and it just comes down to layering CC all day every day. Used to be each class had like 1-2 ccs (except rogues, who had billions all on 2 DRs) and they were often on DRs with each other, now with talents, everyone's got tons. Hopefully WoD will help out with that, I know they were talking about nerfing CC, but I don't recall exactly what they were planning to do. All that and my favorite class for PvP (Warlock) was nerfed out of competitiveness back in Wrath and I'm still bitter about it.

I havnt kept up with the PvP changes but I think a fair few cc's were just strait up cut so hopefully that will help.

For example, fear, which has been OP as fuck since inception and has been one of the main reasons Warlocks and Priests have won or came close to winning so many tournaments (and the reason Shaman has won so many as well, since they're the anti-fear class), has been shortened from 8 seconds to 6 seconds. I still get mini panic attacks whenever I get feared in arena and I start running into a wall and along the edges... Too many times have I fallen beneath the world or won an arena match that way. One game lasted 2hours one time cause of that and it became a 1v1 with 2 healers.

Funny, on the flip side, I can't count the number of times I wanted to rage when I (shadowpriest) desperately needed that fear to send that rogue/warr/DK/ret as far away from me as possible and he just runs the same direction I was going, or gets sent directly over to my partner. Or even worse, when you're trying to get them in position to set up some burst and the fear sends him straight around the nearest pillar...god... I actually can't remember ever glitching someone out with fear, but that would be pretty dirty : P

Lost so many matches to that crap. As one who played Warlock 2s waaaaaay too much in TBC, I can say this is exaggerated, but true. It was more like about 5% of our matches where that actually worked out. We played Afflock/Spriest for S1-2 and got Duelist both times (1 below the cut for Gladiator S1), then swapped to SL/SL + Disc and never really found traction in S3 (mostly because I was just waaay too impatient and he was too aggressive) and swapped back towards the end to climb to Duelist again. Then Wrath came out and DKs just ruined everything.
