The only time you HAVE to be human is when you kindle a bonfire, so I suggest finding a way to kill yourself, or run through the level and when someone invades, find a safe spot to wait and fight them, and if you die just stay hollow.

You can be invaded by anyone in a certain soul level range, I don't remember exactly what. You don't have to build pvp to enjoy the pvp in this game. It's part of the lore and the environment. Just like helping someone you can kill someone. It's really not that big of a deal. Yeah, i am already dead all the time because i find it just annoying and don't see any point in it. I just don't understand why i have to have some asshole killing me each time i kindle a bonfire. It adds nothing to the game. And suiciding afterwards feels even more stupid. I don't want to have to suicide just so no asshole can kill me. And lets face it, if someone invades me, i die. Each time. Those guys PvP all the time, and are prepared for PvP. I PvP never, and am prepared to deal with monsters. Most likely i am also currently fighting something when they invade me. It is just an annoying thing that i don't see why it is in my PvE game. I know it happens only when i am alive, but i have to be alive to kindle bonfires.

Just like how you can help other people you can kill them. I know it's annoying as fuck to you and you'd rather play without it but it's a base part of what makes the game what it is. It'd be very strange to have messages and allow friendly invasions but not only hostile ones. Or to only allow messages but no invasions.

that, or make pvp a opt-in experience like every other game.

If the game loses connection it restarts itself (on PC at least) into offline mode and you can play that invader free. This works on the consoles too (though it's probably easier since you can just unplug the ethernet).

I´ve already died like 50 times and did not even get beyond the first bonfire. I already started to run through and leave the monsters aside since I see no point in fighing them. Most of the time it´s just wasting flasks and dying to poison or falling from an edge. Now it has become trial & error... I mean it´s okay that this game is challenging but this is just too much. :-/ Thou who art trying shall be rewarded !

I feel like either my weapon is too weak or I should put more points into str/dex. It takes forever to kill a monster :-/ currently I use my longsword +4 but I found this katana-like sword. Iaito I believe... 1. Get out of that tree, you're going the "wrong" way. 2. All weapons in Dark Souls are balanced. A huge ass weapon does more damage per hit than your longsword, but on the other hand, you can't attack as fast with it and it takes more stamina to use. The iaito is a good weapon, but don't start using it expecting it to be a better weapon than your longsword, it's all about the moveset. 3. Putting in str/dex won't change your damage to any noticeable degree, that only happens on weapons which scale well, and they only scale well when upgraded to high levels (+10 at least). So basically, upgrade your longsword to +5 and go the "right" way (you should be fighting queelag), and you'll be fine. You can find your first elemental weapon in sens fortress after queelag which will boost your damage a lot.

You have two choices, which i will now put into the spoiler. + Show Spoiler + Go out of that tree, that is not a choice. The whole tree area is optional, and quite a bit harder. There is also not that much interesting stuff in there, either, and you could get cursed which is a pain to get rid off. Then get the bonfire in the swamp. From here on, either go kill Quelaag with your +4 sword, which might or might not work. It could be pretty hard. Go to the wheel, up the wheel, up on the left. Up, up, up, until you reach the valley of drakes. There is a direct way from here to firelink shrine. If you missed the large ember in the depth, go get it in the kitchen behind the first butcher. Upgrade your weapon as high as you can. Remember that you can buy titanite shards at the Blacksmiths, so there is no reason to have any weapon below +5 at this point, or any armor below +3. If you want to, experiment a bit with which weapons you like before spending your large shards, since at this point they are not that easy to replenish. You can buy them for souls later, too, but they are a bit expensive. There are weapons with different qualities. I think the longsword is not that bad overall, though. But maybe you like something else more.
