Did you talk to the crestfallen warrior in firelink shrine ? He pretty much tells you your first two objectives. I'm gonna spoil it below. + Show Spoiler + He tells you that you have to ring two bells. One is up in the undead church ( where the gargoyles are ) and the other is in Blighttown. So your next step is killing the gargoyles and ring the first bell ![]()

+ Show Spoiler + Defeating the gargoyles would be your 'next objective' now, you don't really have any business beyond the spear wielding statue yet, you can go there nonetheless though that's the great thing about dark souls. Save yourself a ton of trouble and don't go down the skele path, that's endgame area.

Help if you really want it: + Show Spoiler + The "correct" route is the gargoyles. The titanite demon (headless spear statue) and the skelly route are both a bit later, typically. As far as the game guiding you, the best thing I can recommend is to talk to the snarky warrior that sits next to the Firelink bonfire and listen carefully (because you can only see dialogue once) after you finish the first few major bosses. If you don't care much about help/spoilers, then go beat the gargoyles and come back to this thread!

+ Show Spoiler + first half of the skele path isn't endgame, I'd say after blighttown is a good time to do it because of what the boss gives when killed. It's a pain to do the first time though...

Rite of kindling isn't that important imo (if that's what you're talking about), after blighttown I don't think you'd really need it anymore. I never used it atleast.

+ Show Spoiler + I killed Queelag, rang the second bell, went downstairs and found a hidden bonfire. There was also a stonewall which is probably a huge door/gate but I wasn´t able to open it. I went further and reached a huge firedemon.I killed him by cutting off his "hand" he fell down and died. Now I´m not sure where to go, but this fire area is probably wrong. To the left there are like ten of these giant taurus demons and to the right about six capra demons. So I went back to the darkroot garden and killed the butterfly. Which was a weird boss fight^^ So where should I go next? And someone told me that you find your first elemental weapon after queelag, well I did not ![]()

it's not that important, I agree. I actually never did it the way I said on any playthrough. But for the first one I did, with no summons whatsoever, I really wish I knew about the rite for smough and ornstein... These bitches... It's also good as a preparation for ng+, kindling everything to the max makes it easier. @joecool + Show Spoiler + after you rang both bells, go back to the smith near the church. Something has changed ;-) As for the elemental weapon, you can make one with queelag's soul, maybe that's what you heard about. Don't know about any other around this time.

Sen's Fortress (aka the place right behind the first smithy which had a huge locked gate) is a pretty steep jump in difficulty if you don't know what you're doing and just rushing into it. I actually recommend exploring like you did, get some levels, grab some good gear, and then move through Sens' Fortress slowly.

Yeah, the area is pretty though early on but personally I usually go there immediately after I get the ability to make divine weapons, the boss there is one of the easiest in the game and as you said, + Show Spoiler + you get the rite of kindling, and also find the smith needed for fire element

Maybe I'm too high level for NG. I'm in the warrior of sunlight covenant and would like to earn sunlight medals (I know I can farm the spider-like monster but it's not as fun).

You get the game + poster + artbook + soundtrack + 5 postcards and a making-of-dvd. Whether you use it or not... it´s a lot.

![]() Killed O&S, and just wanted to upgrade my pyromancy a bit further with those souls, ran through to the lady in the swamp, bought stuff from her. Then some giants and flies appeared, a fight started, and she must have died throughout it since she is no longer there. Now i am stuck with Pyromancy 15 (I assume there is no way to salvage this?). I am really questioning whether it is worth it to continue now, or just restart the whole thing and be way more careful around her.

Rule of thumb for late game, either you use good scaling on weapon (A or S) and pump the stat to death, or you go elemental to get rid of scaling altogether.

It takes forever to kill an enemy... that´s not fun :-/ uhh... it shouldn't do that little, it should be doing four times as much at least. Is it really close to breaking? When the durability is low a debuff symbol shows up on the hud and the damage takes a nosedive. It doesn't have to be at 0 durability, it will lose damage as soon as it gets to 30% durability. It can be repaired at a smith, or if you have bought a repairbox(very useful) from one it can be repaired at any bonfire, or with repair powder. The generally considered best straight sword (balder side sword) does the same base damage as the long sword, just with better dex scaling, but since you are low level you wouldn't have stats to add scaling anyway, so the long sword would be about the same damage. The weapons are pretty balanced overall, it's more about preference of moveset/style of weapon.
