Didn't do shit for me aside from fuck up my resolution but maybe you'll have better luck. Did you disable anti-aliasing and that-other-thing-which-name-eludes-me in the options menu? That's the mistake I made with dsfix, worked perfectly afterwards.
Nope, will definitely give it a try though thanks.

There is a bonfire at the bottom of Blighttown. You don't have to go through the whole area each time you try Quelaag. Yeah, I looked up every single bonfire location in guides as I was going through the game because i quickly realized how key they are to not frustrate you into oblivion and some of them are really hard to find (sen fortress one, the one down in the catacombs as well).

I couldnt imagine playing this game spoiler free tbh, I would be able to do it if they wernt dicks about bonfire placement....

well you have to admit you only miss the blighttown bonfire if you didnt bother checking out the swamp before going to queelag

No its the ones hidden behind fake walls and stuff that bother me

^idc its one thing to put a treasure chest behind a fake wall, but when your putting the motherfucking SAVEPOINT behind a fake wall then you and I have a problem :p
I usually avoid playing this game online because I have awful memories of playing the prequel online.

I did check out the swamp. Every single place in that swamp. Except for the one edge where the bonfire is. The loot thingies in the dark do a very good job in directing you around it. So i went left, found the stuff there, even the secret stuff. Then i went right, killed the giants, and went up the wheel. During all of this i died a few times, and had to kill millions of annoying flies which don't get hit half the time because you can't aim up. I always assumed that a bonfire MUST be around the next corner, so i kept on pressing forward up the wheel.
At that point i was getting more and more frustrated and basically quit the game for two weeks because it was no fun doing the same thing over and over again only to die 5m next to where you last were, and periodically losing all your souls because from time to time you fall down somewhere in blighttown. Note that i also hadn't found the stairs in firelink and thus could not upgrade my estus flask and did not have the ritual of kindling, so i was left with 10 level one charges which were usually empty at some point in the swamp.
In my opinion, not looking up the places the bonfires are at is simply not worth the possible frustration if you miss one, which you will if you don't look them up.

I found the bonfire in Blighttown easily, but if I had not looked up the one up in Sen Fortress, I would have probably killed myself out of frustration. I died probably 4 times on that fucking roof without knowing there was a bonfire. Then I googled it.
Now I look it up before going to a new area.

How can you miss the bonfire at the bottom of Blighttown ? ( I'm not talking about the one behind the invisible wall, but the one right in the middle of the swamp ). The only way I can see someone miss that bonfire is if he used to shortcut through the drake valley
|
Well, it is pretty simple. I went down the stairs, then forward since there was blinking loot there, then left for the blinking loot, then i backtracked and went right on the back side of the swamp, following the blinking loot trail conveniently laid out to make you miss the bonfire (Seriously, just look at the map of that place. I am pretty sure that loot trail is set up that way exactly to make you miss the bonfire)
This lead me exactly around that bonfire towards quelaag and the wheel thing. After that i just followed the trail i had already taken, since i knew that one, and the swamp was full of fucking annoying flies each time. I assumed that the bonfire would be somewhere up the wheel, always one step further then where i got last time.

The only way I can see someone miss that bonfire is if he used to shortcut through the drake valley I think it's quite easy to miss actually. The swamp is very inhospitable because of the poison, so I would reckon most people try to run through it, and the spot is obviously not immediately visible, you specifically have to look into the tunnel or you might miss it. I remember the first time I got there, took me quite a while to find it when I got down there.

I tried to do a completely spoiler-free run when the game first came out. Fuck that. How are you expected to know "well there are boulders raining down on my face, so let me go to the edge of this rooftop and look down and see if I find anything interesting"??
And not only that, but the first few times through Shen's Fortress are absolutely BRUTAL. Even now I breathe a sigh of relief when I get past the last set of guillotines and can make it to the bonfire.

There was a bonfire in sen's fortress? I beat the game a few times and never found it. I was going to comment that I don't remember that many bonfire's behind hidden walls and stuff (only 1 of the top of my head in the forest - unless you count the ones behind the hidden door in the great hollow), but maybe I just don't know about them lol.

Yeah, the rooftop where you first see boulders being thrown at you, if you go to the edge on the right, and slowly walk off, you'll land at a bonfire. It puts you past the last set of swinging guillotines right before stepping outside.

I'll be damned, I always just started from the UD parish bonfire and went straight for the shortcut lol.

The bonfires were a little iffy...not to mention on how to get some of the weapons. A lot of shit is just very cryptic which can be frustrating. Even though I haven't beaten the game yet I have still read the wiki and the Dark Souls reddit for story tidbits. Pretty much the only way you will know about some of the stuff, the game is not gonna tell you (unless you count a couple lines in item descriptions...I find the lore pretty interesting but it's just not out there in the game for you to read).
As for me, I went ahead and got a Lightning Uchi and the Furysword. Should be enough to get me through the rest of the game. Actually got pretty close to beating O&S the first few times...just once I kill one and I get caught in that huge attack. Hate one-hit kills. I just summoned another sunbro and we took them down. I guess not as satisfying as it could've been but oh well.

That's the fun in the game. First play through of both dark souls and demons souls I did without reading anything. THen I looked up stuff to find extras after.

I looked up everything before I even beat Sen's Fortress the first time. Didn't hurt my ability to enjoy the game at all.

Can someone explain to me how invasions work?
I thought you could only invade someone of higher soul level, however now i an currently doing a soul level 1 run, and i still keep on being invaded whenever i am alive. By people who almost certainly are NOT soul level 1. I don't really see anyone going "hey, lets invade someone in the depths at level 1, that will be fun!"
Honestly, i find the whole thing to just be an incredibly annoying nuisance. I am playing a singleplayer game. I have no interest in your bad PvP. My character is not built for PvP. Why do you insist on sending some asshole to kill me whenever i kindle a bonfire? And even if i beat that guy who has build for PvP and equipped himself for PvP, and probably also has experience with PvP since apparently he is one of the guys doing PvP since he is invading me, you are going to keep on sending more and more of them until i finally die to one. Should i really just suicide after i do that just so i get rid of being alive and don't risk dying to some stupid spirit in a place where retrieving my soul is harder?
Why would you even make such a system which is obviously based on having people who want to do PvP and build for PvP preying on people who just want to do their PvE in peace. There is really no point in having this system in place since it is really only there to benefit those few people who like annoying other people and generally being assholes.
