Back to the topic of LA, there was some stat out there after the first few games stating that LA outshot Phoenix by 28-7, even-strength, when Kopitar was on the ice. That's just insane.
|
I think it was on another forum, but someone was saying how Kopitar is vastly underrated, and is similar to Datsyuk in his ability to create offense anywhere, and dominate in all three zones. He is really, really good. So is Richards, Brown, etc.
Which makes it even more baffling how this team only got to the 8 seed, and had such a shitty offense.

playoffs are a totally different game. 1 quick comparison off the top of my head...Claude Lemieux and Alex Yashin. 2 totally different players in the playoffs than in the regular season.
but, all you'd have to do is watch 1 playoff game with Lemieux and Yashin to see the difference.

Claude was always a solid regular season guy too. I don't know why that gets tossed around so much. And Yashin, the few times he made it, he was still every bit as floaty and enigmatic as he was in the regular season.
Furthermore, while I can see the playoff warrior arguemnt for a single player, we're talking about a whole team here.

do you know how many NHL players have more than 80 career playoff goals ? 8. half the guys who scored more than Lemieux were on the 80s Oilers teams. Lemieux played on defense-first "goalie teams". the year he won the conn smythe he scored 6 goals in 45 games and had 86 penalty minutes.
i've watched Lemieux play in 5 playoffs games and in more than 30 regular season games and he is a completely different hockey player in the playoffs... he doesnt even look like the same guy.
in the 17 years i've been going to nhl playoff games Claude Lemieux is flat-out far and away the best god damn mother fucking NHL playoff goal scorer on the face of god's green earth.
again .. off the top of my head... 1995 Devils v. Detroit... Detroit won the president's trophy while 10 teams won as many or more games than the Devils. the devils devoured detroit 4-0
2001 leafs v. senators the leafs limp into the playoffs and 4-0 the senators while no ottawa forward comes within 6 feet of the slot.

Tom Renney wll not be back next season with the Oilers. Im kinda shocked acctually because I though he was doing the right things. I figured this is the only NHL city right now where a coach could finish last 2 years in a row and keep his job. Guess I was wrong

Canucks still only team to beat LA in the playoffs~ (Silver lining etc)

I've only been able to listen to a few minutes of the last two PHX vs. LAK games on Phoenix radio, seen a few youtube clips, and heard a few interview clips. From what I've heard, the officiating has favored the Kings pretty strongly, but I guess you have to expect from the Phoenix media. Anyways, I'd like to know what some people who are neither PHX fans nor LAK fans think about the officiating for the series. I'd be really bummed if they've been claiming bad/biased officiating just because the 'yotes have been sucking.

It's a pleasure to watch our best hockey player from Slovenia leading Kings in one of the best franchise season they had. Proud of our Kopi! Hope Kings win it all. Would be great for them and us

That was one of the most one sided 2-1 games i've ever seen. LA chewed em up and spit em out. Did Phoenix ever control the puck in the last 2 minutes of this game?
The Kings are a better hockey team than the Coyotes. The Kings are winning almost every battle every where on the ice. And the Coyotes are getting frustrated by this. Smith is playing well in net.
The Coyotes had a much easier route to this round than the Kings did. The Kings went 8-1 against the #1 and #2 seed in the Western Conference so this 3-0 result should not be a surprise.
an 11-1 playoff run is not exactly a common occurrence.
It is a long way to go at this point, but if the Kings go 16-1 then this will be regarded as the greatest stanley cup playoff run in the history of the NHL.
If you want much deeper insight into how this series is being viewed then download the May 18 edition of "Hockey Central" when it becomes available.

Lol @ the trending topic #BoobsBehindTippet The woman is really friggin hot though

lmao
Quick honestly hasn't looked as good this series. Not just saying this because they took their first loss to the Yotes either. He's looked very human this series!

Going to the Rangers game tonight!!!!!!

Apparently the Rangers only show up on odd numbered games

Good game phoenix. hopefully the whole crisis on whether or not they move gets settle. I don't mind them staying in phoenix or moving, as long as we don't have to spend the next year with the question ''are they gonna move''

After watching the last 10 mins made me want the kings to lose. Doughty throwing tantrums and the brownbknee on knee. Just mt impression from watching this half game since i never watch the kings.

If he doesn't get suspended for that, either I have no idea about officiating (plausible), or the league is incredibly inconsistent. Only reason for a knee on knee hit is to injure, so I think they'd at least suspend him for one game. Eh, bad taste in my mouth from the last moments of that game. Also, I have no idea what Brown's history is like. Judging by the state of his teeth though, I'd geuss he's a bit ... physical. Edit: After watching the play a few more times, he seems to plan it out by having his leg in a weird position. I don't see any reason for his leg to be off the ice pointing straight forward for a full body hit. And bitching at the refs and coyotes after the play doesn't really clear his name (no remorse, no surprise). IDK, seems quite dirty.

The coyotes were very vicious and blunt in their opinions about the refs in the post game interviews.
"Its a crime scene. Its something out there. Its unfortunate, for us ecspecially. They(the refs) know we don't have an owner. They know we don't have anyone to back us up. And for them I don't know if its an easy way to just not make calls, not show up. I know they wear the same color jerseys as them but they didn't have to play for them tonight" -Keith Yandel

Dont you realize that a LA vs Metro New York final was pre-destined once the Kings smashed the Canucks? Nothing will stop Garry. NOTHING!
