I do hope they put some system in place for uniques and currency that warns you if you're about to place something for much lower than market price to help prevent accidents like listing for the wrong currency type or missing a digit.

So if you sell 1000 chaos for 5 divine it will have a 5 times higher gold fee than selling 200 chaos for 1 divine. As gold can only be obteined playing and it is not tradeable, basically it means that if you play more you can make more trades. So it should limit bots, flippers, etc. It should be better that a totally free auction house, but I will wait to see, their idea can change from now until release. Well yeah, most auction houses have some sort of arbitrary fee... I don't see how it will limit bots. Bots can farm gold 24/7... I also don't like the idea that players who already don't play a lot have even more of a disadvantage. I suppose I just disagree with Josh's idea for how much a high end player should be able to get out of the game for a set amount of time (he says 1000 times the amount btw.) compared to your average player. If the gold amount will be at all relevant, this is just going to feed into this idea even further. The only thing it might limit is pure traders. I know you don't interact much, but it does serve as a reminder of the game being large and populated. Of course you don't interact with everyone you trade beyond greetings and thank yous. But occasionally you get a convo going or end up playing together and that's nice. Even just the small engagements are nice. I just enjoy this type of trading, be it PoE, D2 or GW.

I think the player perception is that the "average" player is someone easily farming non-juiced T16s since that's so easy to do as an experienced player. But, if the average player is people not even getting 4 voidstones before the league ends, it's not hard to imagine they're earning such a drastically lower amount, especially when you factor in people doing ultra juiced maps, especially when abusing party play with max quant/rarity in every slot. You need only look at the amount of currency Empyrean's group pulls in during just the first few days (which factors in all the time spent leveling, doing atlas, etc) to see the massive discrepancy between top players and people struggling in red maps.

Yeah agreed, even seeing people in isolation can feel like an interaction, seeing their specter build or CI assassin or whatever. I think I'd wish for some kind of "Shop" physically in your hideout so people buying from you still have to actually go to your hideout and interact with your shop to buy your stuff(searching still being external to that ofc). Would give some level of interaction still without just a popup of "so-and-so bought your blablabla for x price". As for trade and gold being a component of trade - it does sound like there are a lot of wrong ways to balance it. I guess the most sensible is to tie the gold cost of buying it to the purchase price, and have gold just scale with existing currency rarity. I'm curious how they'll work it out, and I do expect them to do it something like how Sulphite is distributed where it's a step more complicated than gold just dropping on the ground.

The other really big benefit is all the content that's normally problematic to run because you can't leave early, e.g. delve, heist, bossing. In POE2 bossing is expected a way more common and involved process where you're spending 1/3 of every map fighting the boss. That would invariably lead to a lot of needing to pause the encounter, ask the person to wait possibly several minutes, remember where you left off in the fight, follow up after, etc. It would just be a lot of extra jank compared to the already janky system we have.

There are already a number of global channels that are relatively active without being overly toxic, plus guilds people can join for chitchatting if they want a more social experience in POE. Trade doesn't need to be hamstrung just for the possibility of that one in a thousand conversation. Second paragraph is an extremely solid point. Doing Lab runs always annoyed me because you basically just lose trade opportunities while labbing. Part of this is already mitigated in the new system as it seems like having dozens of rares listed will require dozens of trade slots, so you're less likely to even bother listing niche rares, but still not having to stop what you're doing to process a trade sounds awesome. First paragraph - I guess it depends how much you value parasocial interaction. I guess it's kinda like Twitch, only 20% of any given channel is actually chatting and participating, the rest are just passively engaged. I see PoE the same, and that 'passive engagement' is seeing other people's hideouts / cosmetics / builds outside of your actual friend group and clan. You're right that it isn't worth handicapping trade for, but on some level it feels like PART of trade - the difference between buying something from a stall at a farmer's market vs buying it from a vending machine.

In an ideal world I'd want to just be able to take some of my premium tabs and mark them as reserved for trade, making them unusable but count toward extra slots, since the main reason I bought them in the first place was for trading. GGG will refund basically anything to buy a different stash tab if you ask support so this isn't really an issue.

Similarly, I wouldn't be too surprised if a premium tab in PoE1 is what it currently is, but a premium tab in PoE2 is 12 slots available for the auction house (or similar). It really depends on how different the games are, and I expect that tabs won't be 1-to-1 comparable so much as equivalently valuable tabs for their respective game.

little summary Started again with a Deadeye - Lightning arrow: Really smooth, really good, easely got to red map and more with it. S tier starter for me. Tried to redo a VV/VD (CoC) Elementalist: Was ok but not really great, didn't last long but could still do red map ok. Did a Pathfinder Flicker Strike: I'm not a fan of the Pathfind variant but since I already had a lvl 95 ranger, I tried it and it was good. but I moved on too. Slayer Flicker Strike with Voidforge: Now we are talking. Had lots of find with it, he had lots of dmg but a bit to weak on the defence. Was nice. Last build, Elementalist Arc ignite: God dam this is good. I pushed all my currency into that build and it's really really good. Damage is great and it's really tanky. I did lots of bossing, invitation, Delve (stopped at 800), 100% deli map, etc. I think it's overall the best build I played so far in PoE. A+ Season overall, time to move on. Will comeback if there is a cool end of season event.

Will comeback if there is a cool end of season event. How was delving around 800? Do you remember how many of the four-socket resonators you found / how common bosses were? This has been one of my favourite seasons as well - trying to get to 38 challenges in SSF on a Penance Brand Inquisitor; currently sitting at around 33 after grinding out the Ultimatum ones this weekend (found Trialmaster after about 40 scarabs, unspecced the "chance to find Trialmaster" nodes" then immediately found him twice more while trying to get the last few Inscribed Ultimatums for the run 10 + 5-1 vendor challenges, lol) and two being formalities (have crafting mats for Lavish Luxuries but saving the sacred lifeforce for when I have the will to live to roll a +1 all spells sceptre; need 12 more guardians/elderslayers but waiting for a few more invitations to drop for efficiency). Still missing the "get all atlas points one" as I've still not found a Twisted Distant Memory (found 17 Altered/Augmented/Rewritten Memories and 3 Cortexes, have run all my Elderslayers for the div card - trying out Ritual/Tujen and will eventually spam all my Kirac missions to refresh his shop). Grinding out the last ~130 Eldritch Gaze Eater altars and ~200 scarab tiers, then will try to find a no-golden door uber lab day to grind out the keys (quite nice how there's the "trade a gem for keys" divine font option, have been able to open all 10 chests a few times). Have only had two Atlas memories drop so that one's out; haven't tried running any Ubers yet but waiting til I hit L98 and craft a better weapon to try them out (bit dicey with my potato computer - I die every ten maps or so when my computer freezes for ten seconds when influenced mobs spawn / there's a immortality totem or rare monster mob / beyond demons spawn).

affliction league is going to "last longer than usual". though this is more of a running trend, seeing as they extended the last few leagues too
