Yes. its a great game and it have replay value, up to a certain point. Thats was my frist point. By making so long betas, and even call the release "open beta" they throw out their content so early that most people are done with the game already at release. And the closed beta was not closed in any means...
I'm not sure the value of beta keys currently, but I figure I'll try anyways. I'm looking for a couple keys for my two friends who I really want to get into the game, any help is appreciated, love you guys
I've been playing this game non-stop for the past week. I've experimented with all of the characters and the game is quite amazing. I'm getting ready to settle down and really get into character progression once I have some buddies to play through with.
edit: also, almost forgot, it's my birthday if that helps

Happy birthday. Sadly i have non left to give away. Open beta is very soon so dont buy any key ! Because of the full reset and the new act i would wait until open beta anyways, because you all can start at the same point (no stash).
The gameplay and character control is so terrible in comparison that i cant get myself to play more than a few levels in Seems to me the only way avoid those flaws is to use spells that dont require any clicking on enemies like sweep or some totems.

I played D3 but I also played D2
PoE has a very similar feel to D2, so I'm not bothered by PoE not having animation canceling
I also played a Splinter PD WD when D3 was first released, and there was no animation canceling with Splinter so I guess I'm just used to it

Zzz...
I will enjoy listening to him more if PoE is proven to be popular and successful.

That's what I mentioned many months ago lol. All the hardcore players who really likes the game are probably getting fatigue from it.

Uh, what do popularity and sales figures have to do with game quality? Why don't you, you know, use your brain to consider the man's points rather than deferring thought until the masses have made your decision for you?

Yeah I didn't really get that response either.
I've avoided playing as much as possible until Open Beta hits, partly because I knew I would get burned out on two acts and temporary characters if I played PoE as much as I played D2 back in the day. Once the reset happens, I'll be good to go, and relatively fresh because I never leveled a character past level 35 or so yet.
And I have to agree with GGG in that video...feeling the impact of items and abilities is one of the best features of PoE and is what made D2 last so long and be so successful. A pre-Windforce and post-Windforce Bow Amazon in D2 were two completely different animals, and at least pre-LoD you could get a similar experience from finding well modded rares. There is nothing quite like getting lucky and finding a good rare.
I played a lot of WoW too, and it definitely didn't have that kind of itemization, outside of most legendaries/some epic weapons and a variety of trinkets, but even unique trinkets started to disappear after Vanilla.
He was also spot on about "abuse" of in-game features not really being a problem in a PvE setting. Obviously if something is inherently broken it may have a negative impact on race events and PvP, but they seem to believe that people who go the extra mile to design an interesting character that bends some of the game mechanics should be rewarded for their creativity, and that makes sense to me.
PoE's biggest weakness right now is obviously the mechanical issues with desync and whatnot. Hopefully they can get that fixed, because the core of the game is immensely strong.

There comes a point where characters are just obscenely way too good though. CI for instance was way too effective, as was dual totem builds, and alot of other random shit (Chain + LMP + LA was way too good, you could just clear entire high level maps insanely fast). GGG has done a pretty good job at stopping most of it, but it's still an issue.

The alpha servers are alot better but that's because of lack of players. GGG will likely have desyncing issues just because of the massive number of players coming in.

yay even more desync when OB hits..
It's really not their fault; they hardly expected more than a few hundred players to be on because of the hardcore nature of the game. They have a very limited budget, which is to be expected when the guys literally work 24/7 except on holidays. It's a very niche and hardcore game that doesn't have alot of public appeal. They didn't expect so many to people to start playing, especially after Kripparian started playing.
