People got used to leagues having many extra mobs, and it doesn't take much to tip the scale.
Assuming the default is a small deficit, say getting only 0.9 map on average, +20% mobs make the average go from a deficit to a juicy profit where mid-tier maps can be easily bought in bulk. Throw sextant nerf in there for maximum scarcity.
Either GGG fucked up in their simulation of how much Beasts would be contibuting, or they held back a common recipe like "create a rare map". Mirroring and creating 8 mod or unique maps seem almost as rare as beasts for dupes, and the 8mod beasts are used for creating 6L rares as well...
unique map recipe also uses a beast for "add a suffix, remove a prefix". which is too valuable an effect to waste on a map
this ties into one of my biggest gripes about Bestiary. They made it so some beasts that are useful for very valuable things can be wasted on relatively useless crap. For example, Mirroring a Map (a very powerful recipe) requires 2 Farric Goliaths. However Farric Goliaths can also be used on create a Unique Sceptre, which is far less useful on average.
If you don't know all the recipes already or have a spreadsheet handy, you can end up wasting them. I was pretty annoyed how after a week of play I realized I had wasted tons of beasts on random crap, because I didn't spend the time compiling information from datamines and making a spreadsheet.
I guess it rewards players who do research and put in the time, but it doesn't feel fun to have to restrict myself from freely using the leagues mechanics unless I do a bunch of homework.
I'm actually kinda paralyzed on ever using any beastcrafts because the recipe system is so opaque and I don't want to use up beasts that I need for the tiny fraction of actual good recipes out there.
Doesn't really help that i've not found any actual good beasts (0 for the boss fights, only corrupt to 30% for good recipes, etc)
exactly sn0. I actually wasted one of the beast portal guys =/ they don't have a particularly stand out name. The important part is usually their named portion (Saqawine Rhex), but the part that is highlighted and in red is their affix (Tiger Prey, Crushing Claws, etc)

That's probably it for me, might do something random for 24 challenges at most.
RIP
what got you?
Core malachai slam with damage mods. Overestimated my mitigation, or maybe I didn't have everything up at the time. Stupid either way.
Unrelated question: How best to scale lightpoacher damage? Generic increased damage and generic flat damage?
It's physical spell projectile damage right so same as EK etc afaik
E: hmmm wiki doesn't actually say its a spell. I could test with the one i have in standard somewhere I guess in a few hours if still not sure, but I thought it worked with spell stuff. Regardless, it certainly works with projectile and physical stuff.
It also doesn't help that you can't "flag" recipes you actually care about, so once you discover a good recipe bar memorizing which beasts (of the hundreds? thousands? of possible combinations) enable it is the only way to know "hey, now I can make another unique map."
And then you can catch too many beasts and overwrite them...
It's remembering which essences upgrade into super essences x 1000

Basically made a list of beasts that are useful in valuable recipes, and which recipes you should avoid. Should help in deciding what beasts to buy and sell.
The thing that I'm not sure about is whether or not rolling rares will be good with the upcoming change. It'll sorta be like chaos rolling, slower but with some guaranteed mods. Might be worth keeping certain mobs for that.

For a league that feels in parts inspired by Monster Hunter World not having such a feature is really annoying. Mark a couple recipes you want as important, highlight Beasts that you need for them on your minimap, solved.
Idk why people are having problems tbh I had no difficulty making money :\
i think the currency / drops is a tad lass than previous leagues due to the reasons everyone has been parroting (no loot pinata league mechanic), but it's not that significant.
if you play a lot in with any strategy (higher tier mapping, lab, bossing, MFing) you will make money. if it's a bit worse than before you should still be making money unless there is a lot of mistakes happening
people posting that they have 157/157 atlas and can't sustain, or losing 300c after days of mapping is hyperbole IMO
That's his fault for sucking tbh, should have gone bones of ullr and got better rolls on gear. This is a fight where vanguards might not be as good, if only because of the add phase.
anyone done a Trypanon + Marylene's Fallacy build before? is it any good?
Kinda want to do a build with a league specific unique (since they're fairly common atm), it looks like it might have potential with abyss jewels and such
