I didn't mean to say there werent private owners who invest money into it but Malaga clearly doesn't nearly do it to the extent of clubs like Chelsea and city.

Well, lack of entrepreneurship is ruining almost all spanish clubs in a slightly different way than private investments are in England, I think both leagues are comparable when it comes to blown up salaries and debts. Chelsea or Manchester City are of course very extreme examples of a general trend. On August 30 2011 04:54 haitike wrote: I like Cesc Fabregas in Barcelona. He plays more forward that in MU and he is scoring almost all games. You mean at Arsenal I guess? ![]()

I miss the old times when Valencia won the league (in 2001) and went to two champions league finals in a row. La liga now sucks, only barsa-madrid.

Only Real, Barca, United and City have players earning in excess of 200 000 a week. "Writing off" the debt is the problem. I don't mind a club going into debt if they have to pay it back (well, it's annoying as a supporter of such a club, because it means lean years ahead in the transfer market). But if a club can just take in hundreds of millions in cash injections without ever having to pay it back, that makes it incredibly difficult for the other clubs who have to be run like a business and try to break even/make a profit in the long run. I think Lampard and Terry both earn above the 200,000 a week mark. United's average weekly salaries are 3rd in the EPL behind Chelsea and City.

http://www.zonalmarking.net/2011/08/29/barcelona-5-0-villarreal-tactics/ That's a pretty scary system Barca is now capable of deploying. With their possession (75% in this game), they don't really need a bunch of true defenders... imagine this group with Villa in for Pedro and Xavi for Alcantara.

That's a really really cool system - the number of 'triangles' in that system is pretty ridiculous. I didn't watch the game, but I heard that Barcelona were incredibly fluid during that game. Like one of the commentators on Zonal Marking said, it is extremely effective against teams that play two forwards up top as Villarreal did. Barcelona would probably have to return to four at the back against teams who choose not to play that fashion. The formation does seem slightly susceptible against teams that are committed to defending deep and launching counter attacks over the top since Busquets and Mascherano are not as aerially adept as natural center-backs. From a tactical standpoint, I'd love to see where Guardiola goes with this formation. But from a personal fan standpoint, I don't want to see any more innovation from Barcelona!

It is in fact a reasonable choice against classic 2 striker teams, but the majority of the teams, especially in Champions League, play some 4-5-1ish system which will force barca to play a back 4 again. And I see some vulnerability to a team playing real wingers, the presence in the outer parts of the pitch is not the best. Ajax played this system in national competition for a while, but they didn't have the player material to bring it to perfection. But it's lovely to see a coach like guardiola successfully trying to utilize his improved tactical knowledge he gained in his late career years in Italy. And he is using to many Guardiola'esque players on the field, its absurd ![]()

Chelsea's is so high because we have a lot more in 70 to 90 bracket.
