Such an emotional experience to hear Frank talk about how they lost the final in 2008 shortly after his mother passing away. So much was against us on that day and throughout the tournament. I don't think a fan can be any prouder of his club than I am of Chelsea right now. Facing that 3-1 in Napoli, the 10 men no defenders 2-1 in Barcelona, the 83rd minute goal, the extra time penalty and the first penalty in the shootout blocked against Bayern. 3 remarkable comeback games, to be honest the whole run of Chelsea is just the most astonishing thing I have experienced in football. I might even go so far as to say that the sum total of those three results (napoli barca bayern) might even surpass the unbelievable comeback of liverpool v ac milan. Still though, that one was insane. 3 goals behind at half time against arguably the best team in Europe at that moment and you come back and win??? Fuck, something about English clubs in the Champions League is just epic as hell, so much grit and determination. I'm sure the intensity of the support must be part of it. The fans of every team in the prem are just insanely zealous and many put everything they have into their club. Guess this sums it up lol + Show Spoiler + ![]() Now if only our national team could show some of the grit that English clubs show regularly, we might be getting somewhere. exactly that religious mentality towards their clubs makes it impossible to work together in the national team...

He is underrated but he isn't world class imo, he consistently gave the ball away whenever he was on the pitch in the league even if he is good at defending. Basically, most dangerous players in Chelsea for giving away possession are Mikel, Meireles, Ramires, Luiz. Mostly because of suspect passing, and Meireles because he shoots all the time with about a 1% chance of scoring. I think Ramires and Luiz balance out their failures with other aspects (though I think Luiz would be better at Barca). I would never be able to put Mikel or Meireles on the same level as Makelele or even prime Essien. As much as Meireles has been good playing his role in the team, there are many players we could bring in who could do the same but not take so many god damned potshots. Mikel is a nice backup though .At one stage, mikel had the highest passing success rate in the premier league... for the past 5 years. The guy does not give the ball away easily, only when he gets a suicide pass when surrounded by 3 players, and even then he 50% of the time retains and moves it on, that is when he gets criticized for 'slowing play down' and 'only passing sideways'. The guy is immense.

Refusing to get off the pitch immediately after the sending off. Being sent off for what - the third time in a season? Which warrants a further penalty. The guy is a fucking idiot.

The guy is immense. Well maybe it's because half the time when he dribbles he knocks the ball to opponents accidentally. Might not be his passing but I do remember him being a black hole of possession this season! Good at defending though. I should add a caveat that I haven't paid much close attention to him, being worrying more about other players. If only you Germans knew what 'ultra' sounded like to an English person. It basically sounds like what a 7 year old kid would call himself to sound badass. It reminds me of a guy from Germany who refers to himself on facebook as 'surfdude chiller'. I'm sure if I said that to a group of ultras I would get raped though lol.

What you mean pitch invasions and flairs? Not nearly as much as in the 80's lol. Those were some crazy times. Football was more about violence and working class angst in those days. Then again you do still get pitch invasions as seen by the last game of the season in manchester ![]() + Show Spoiler + ![]() The police do get quite heavily involved in conspicuous football violence and the use of flares etc. Some football violence occurs quite separately from the matches in organised meet-ups but from what I gather this is a dying element. Also if you are just talking about fans who go to every away game and support football as their life, well there are hundreds of thousands of them in this country.

Not no more no, if you rewind back to the 70s this is where the hardcore football fans lived and caused lots and lots and lots of trouble just like your Ultras. Still today if you google Milwall football club you will find out all you need to know about the "Ultras" of England. Chelsea can still be pretty bad if you prevoke them in the wrong area and will go headhunting ![]()

i mean like organised support, flags, banners of fanclubs, choreographies against rivals and stuff like that. i never see flags waving or huge crowds singing when i watch PL. violence has no place in football if you ask me... organised meet-ups and fight has nothing to do with Ultras. thats hooliganism and this is not what ultra stands for.

In that case yeah there is that with every club. Lots of fans meet up in bars and areas before matches. Singing songs getting drunk and having a good time. Did you see any of the pictures of the Chelsea fans in munich with there flags banners? Singing songs in your beer gardens and having a good time? Many of the fans i spoke and read from say the Munich fans were great and had good times with the Chelsea fans and was never any trouble.

Oh...what?? English fans are extremely loud singers, they have millions of chants, they all have kits and some teams have lots of flags. England is possibly the greatest nation at supporting its football in the world (that's combined throughout the nation- there are a few clubs who have insane support for example some of the turkish clubs). I have no idea what games you have been watching, whenever I watch Bundesliga or Serie A games or even many BBVA games the chanting seems fairly subdued to be honest, though it might be to do with the microphones used to record the event. Stoke City has been measured as having the loudest fans as well ![]() Here is a pretty good compilation:

The European league's development of football towards clean and neat family entertainment is what the Ultra-culture in other countries are fighting. Chants, flares, etc are their tools, and not what defines them. And this culture just doesn't exist in England, which resolved much of the dispute over how the league should feel in the 90ies. That doesn't mean that England doesn't have great fans, who would deny that.
