Same as if they were called 'supers', 'megas', 'cool-guys', 'toughboys', 'beatupguys', 'louders', and such. Hard to explain but it's just a really really lame word to describe that type of fan when said in English!
You just think that word is "lame" because you are not used to it, that's all. In the end it doesn't matter how you call these guys or how they call themselves, that's not what it is about.
Hmm how can I explain this. I don't know any german. Imagine if a group of people called themselves 'Geilmensch'??
I should also say that I'm NOT trying to insult anyone who is an ultra, or the culture in general, I just think the word doesn't really work in English because of its lameness.
Alright we get it, this isnt interesting anymore. Nor was it particularly debatable or ambiguous. And even all that considered it really seems like no one gives a shit about how loud English fans are or how organized German fans are, or whether the word Ultra sounds contextually lame. Well except Germans and Englishmen.
O and I think the world Ultra sounds cool, and so does a slew of other English speakers. Deal with it. However the use of the term 'Arse', is hilariously lame ... Everytime I hear someone say it, it sounds like they have something up their.. well Arse.. huehuehuehue .
But but dont get me wrong, Im not trying to insult anyone whose trying to use the word Arse, just that in English spoken in the rest of the world it doesnt work because of its lameness.
troll troll troll. Seriously this nonsense has actually driven people who actually have useful things to say from this thread.
Really Rebs? You've had some of the most pointless and ridiculously drawn out arguments/discussions in the last ~50 or so pages of this thread. Just because one doesn't interest you, don't jump on it
In England, there really are no Ultras. People have tried over the last few years, and most are shut down fairly quickly due to ground regulations or police interference (From first-hand experiences). Football over here is way way too family orientated now to accommodate that side of supporting a team. Sadly.
Yea sure point them out. And tell me which one equates to Ultras = lame english word on the pointless scale. I dont care if the discussion is long or drawn out, but if its boiling down to a dick measuring contest over how awesome fans are then theres not much left to add is there.
I'm not searching back through the pages, I just know they're there. It's a reasonably quiet time in between seasons and before the Euros, let people talk about what they want to talk about!

Yea Im no moderator people can talk about what they want. Doesnt mean I cant dump on stupid comments.
England has fantastic fans, who have somewhat of an unfairly bad rep abroad. England has no ultra culture. Doesnt mean Ultra culture is lame, and it doesn mean English fans are inferior to Ultra's.

Quite shocking to hear there is still racism problems. I'm a regular visitor of my own club and we have some terrible people in our midst, but I have NEVER witnessed racism. Though the fact that our biggest rivals call themselves "jews" makes for some really awkward songs sometimes lol

I've actually heard very little about Lucas Moura ( I've had my head in the sand for the last year ), what's he like?
Lucas Moura from what I have been hearing is similar to Rivaldo. He is really quick and has great vision and passing skills. He plays either behind the strikers or as a wing (which is his usual position). I am really hoping Inter would get him someday, since he stated in one of his interviews that playing at Inter is his dream. But I say the closest to signing him right now are Madrid.

That's more against the supporters of Ajax though and not the race. There is plenty of racism though just not to the same extreme extent as in Poland. In Italy it can be quite bad too I heard.

Certificate of Participation
Hereby we approve the participation of the football club "FC Bayern" in the following competitions and congratulate to the 2nd place.

Michel Platini (UEFA president) Juergen Klopp (a cool dude)
Something in those lines ... jokes may be lost in translation ^^
A "Teilnehmerurkunde" is what german kids get at junior sports events if they fail to deliver even mediocre results. This thing basically taunts Bayern for getting three second places despite their self-claimed superiority to any other german club.
lol ok, 3 pages back i just asked if there is an Ultra scene in England. Someone answered it, thanks.
To everyone else, i recommend research the Ultra Culture because i think most of you who commented have no clue what its about.
And to counter a Video of Liverpool fans singing their one Song in a CL Final:
Frankfurt 2010 in Bochum, Stadium is empty, was 1 1/2 hours after the game. Still Supporting. Nuff Said
And now please Stop discussion about who sings louder or whatnot. Football is awesome, therefore everyone who loves it and is supporting his team is the best. period.
He's confirmed as having flown to the US to discuss terms, and I think he will probably go for it. I really hope it's not a move too soon for him, Martinez is one of the better and more exciting young managers in football. Rodgers was sensible and turned down the chance of the job, I hope Martinez doesn't end up regretting his decision.
Was on the Chelsea forum, one of our posters is like the paperazzi i swear lol. Also had a recent pic of Hulk hugging Luiz at Brazil training camp pre a freindly (like 1day old?) igniting more rumours he has just signed for Chelsea.
